I had trouble passing Aircare with my 68 Mustang that has a mild cam on it... luckily they didn't pass/fail older cars on NOx so I was able to lean the carb out to the point the car was basically stalling at idle and squeak through that way, but kept getting me on hydrocarbons all the time.

It was annoying cuz I drove it like once every couple years but it had to go to Aircare every year.

trollface 05-07-2021 07:10 AM

Did you run it on Meth? My car was pretty much running like a Top Fuel Funny car when it rolled up to Aircare.

Yah I used to dump a can of methyl hydrate in too lol

I remember doing that on my first car.
I would retard the timing so that the car had absolutely now power and wouldn't rev.
Dumped in a bottle of meth to get the car to pass.
And then I get a Fail for having no cat even though the exhaust was stock.

MarkyMark 05-07-2021 10:35 AM

My 93 Prelude would pass as long as I went for a good rip beforehand and kept the engine revved up a bit in line. If I just let it idle and cool down it failed. I don't miss Aircare at all lol

does traffic have ghost cars? not counting unmarked f150s

Harvey Specter 05-07-2021 05:32 PM

Turns out he was pulled over for no front plate, no ticket because the car was 2 hours old and needed a bracket. He wasn't questioned about his exhaust.

JDMDreams 05-07-2021 06:14 PM

I wonder if it was really no front plate, if the cop was behind him how would he see? Or they found the no front plate once they pulled him over to make up an offense.

twitchyzero 05-07-2021 06:19 PM

they never make a turn to pull someone over

have you ever seen a police vehicle in the front of a traffic stop?

I always passed with muffler delete, but had a cat, they never gave me shit for it and boy it sounded sweet on their dyno.

Kind of unrelated but anyone see that accident at 4 and Westminster today? I live near there, didn’t take any photos but holy shit what a physics lesson in relation to old cars. A classic like 50’s car I didn’t recognize got t-boned by a Dodge Ram and I’m pretty sure the driver died, but besides the car being crumpled halfway in like the opposite side doors burst open and the fucking seats of the car blew right out of the car onto the road. Shit was unreal... big time lesson to those of us who drive old cars the crash standards are shit. Really shocking to see. Not sure who’s fault it was but gotta keep your head on a swivel when you’re in an older car for sure.

Harvey Specter 05-07-2021 09:02 PM

Scary thing is most old cars are rust buckets so any sort of impact and these cars fold like a tin can.

Btw...

I hate those posts.

Traffic is traffic, IHIT is IHIT, drugs is drugs... traffic guys aren't about to go investigate gang crimes, nor should they...

BlackV62K2 05-07-2021 09:22 PM

But funding and resources can also be redirected to more important issues.

68style 05-07-2021 11:08 PM

That's not how it works, but it's a nice idea.

Budgets are decided and allocated in April of every year which includes the salaries of police officers and how many they are able to afford for municipal as well as OT budgets. Like, they don't even talk or cross-communicate or work on each other's stuff -- the various sections of any given police force have almost nothing to do with one another.

Again, like I said, how does someone on traffic duties suddenly pivot into a gang task force member? That's months and months of specialized training.

Also, just because you see a VI checkpoint doesn't mean resources aren't being redistributed in other places, ie: White Rock's municipal drug section or gang task force might be seconded into Surrey to assist them IF Surrey requested it or was willing to pay for it... but that affects the traffic division of White Rock how exactly? It doesn't. You're just drawing false conclusions based on assumptions.

Did you mean this?

68style 05-08-2021 06:43 AM

^ Not really, I don’t think a Dodge Ram 1500 or a 1950’s car fit the narrative of a “typical Richmond driver”?

JDMDreams 05-08-2021 07:13 AM

Wasn't the DDE guy pulled over in fucking highway 17 in SURREY, by the VPD? Last time I checked you had to go through like 3 other cities to get from Vancouver to Surrey. And there's no traffic issues they have to deal with in Vancouver? That's like asking Burger king to make my big Mac for me.

68style 05-08-2021 07:49 AM

Stated above, VPD traffic is seconded to IRSU right now, you may even encounter them as far way as the lower portions of the Coquihalla.

Update to this:

Apparently that group needs to get their shit together. Lawyer hasn't been paid and has not been given any evidence/required information.

Does the group have sufficient evidence to provide?

Considering that we didn't here, I don't think they do either. For us, our problem was also lack of evidence and it was just hearsay. They likely have the same problem

Just put the stock exhaust back on my car. Can't deal with the BS a random roadside VI brings.

If that's the case then lawyer has nothing to do with the situation of no progress cuz what's there to pay for if you have nothing for them to review and build a case? I originally interpreted your post as the group admin is being lazy and withholding things from the lawyer.
