hmmmm

lets put up noise cameras to catch noisy cars/ bikes instead of surveillance cameras on intersections to monitor public safety.

interesting choices.

Mike Smyth show on cknw on this issue.
I feel like this MLA for ndp he interviewed was really reaching to make this a bigger problem than it is, and trying to make it an easy cash grab with the noise cameras

What a bunch of tards. I get what they are saying but the whole thing is so one sided. No one is driving around town reving their engines like that scene in F&F when Edwin was trying to impress Monica. :heckno:

It sounds like this NDP guy has no clue what he is talking about. FailFish

Not BC, but there's a motion to make loud cars to be ticketed at the provincial level in Ontario.

Has anyone seen this video yet regarding noise or they call it "Fart Cans" in Vancouver?

This rumour's been circulating for years. He's 100% not BCHP or IRSU. I've said this many times in this thread. Jurisdiction is a courtesy - it's an imaginary line. He can do whatever the hell he wants. BC legislation says Peace officers have jurisdiction across BC, federal (RCMP) is across Canada.

June is loud car month so watch out. Cain has emailed other jurisdictions if they want to do joint OPs so he can hand out VIs like candy. Nowhere is safe if the respective jurisdiction approve of said joint op.

Ummmmmmm excuse me?! Smoking? Does this guy think he's manning the slow sign at a construction site? That can not be acceptable, even by VPD standards. Does the guy have it on video?
Every single fucking walk I go on with my dog I see at least 1/5 dumb fucks at a stoplight on their phones. Why the actual fuck are they not doing blitzes on things that actually result in injuries and deaths instead of these wieners crying because the city hurts their ears because loud meanie cars.

I don’t understand how you’d be permitted to be maskless when you’re working with the general public on a regular basis.

Edit: classic case of a cop thinking that they’re above the law

100% x 500. This has been my biggest gripe about the whole situation.

I'm not sure why they focus on annoying behaviour (unless they are doing stupid shit), when just yesterday, I see 2 people in front of me go through a red while pedestrians are crossing. It boggles my mind as to what they consider necessary for enforcement or "blitz".
I get loud cars are annoying, but I'm pretty sure getting smoked by a driver that was on their phone or running a light or stop sign is far more annoying cuz you know... death and serious injury.

BABU 05-19-2021 03:12 PM

Will Office Cain write ticket or VI bicycle with loud speaker playing music at night ? Eat a dick VPD. Enforce traffic rules and educate the general public. If we go back to the 1800s it’s almost like you will VI screaming horse or cow you ride on. To Papa Spencer Chandra most of you shit comes from Big trucks air brake down knight street all the time about 90 dB. Nothing to complain about, I respect you want to enjoy ride/play your toy/music/pornhub video, just not early in the morning or late night out loud.

Maybe the RS oldies will remember but in the early 2000's the VPD would set up shop on Robson during the weekends and pull over anyone they felt was been anti-social. The biggest crime back then was blasting your 18" subwoofers.

I also remember when cops used to chill at meets with us. Only request was that we don't do stupid shit when arriving or leaving the meet. Other than, we were all cool with each other

Pretty sure they're comfortable bro - esp after 5+ years and defined benefit pension (thanks government!)

$100k+ OT after 4 years and that's just STARTING.

The way the police's defined benefit pension plan works is, they'd be entitled to earn a "full pension" -- ie. 70% of their salary based on the 5 highest earning years in their career -- after working for ~23 years.

Eons ago when I was in undergrad, police came on campus to hold recruitment drives. Had I knew about this golden pension back then, I would have applied there fresh out of ugrad.

Imagine being hired at 22, then work for 23 years, and then I can retire with a nice pension package at 45 to pursue whatever else I want... Damn, was I ever stupid to not consider that...

If I were a traffic cop, I'd actually go do something useful and Box 1 VI every single goddamn car that has bald tires, esp bald front tires and full tread rears. FailFish Those are the real rolling hazards out there, and I see them on parked cars all the time.

I also see a ton of drivers not turning on their driving lights in the evening, and I hate those with a vengeance as well.

westopher 05-20-2021 12:22 PM

We need an RS insider to infiltrate the traffic division.
XXR wheels? BOX 1
Crackle tune? BOX 1
Maxpeedingrod coil overs? BOX 1
Upsized wheels without lowering first? BOX 1

Nice te37s sir, you’re free to go.
KW coils? Enjoy your day sir.

These still do happen but not as regularly. There were points in time where officers would come on their personal time off to represent the local police (Richmond RCMP was one of them) and it was great because they kept the community safe and the amount of burnouts and monkey business was, for the most part, kept to a minimum. We just need to proactively include them as an interest group to ensure we all meet somewhere in the middle.

As for the police officers in question with the VPD, I don't know what their motive is so it's hard to put my finger on it. Otherwise, I personally like having police officers at meets. They keep the oddballs at bay and people safe.

Yeah, I know of someone like that. He's retired from RCMP after 25 years of service or something. Gets full pension and has another job now too so he's got like 2 salaries now but 1 job.

Euro7r 05-20-2021 01:42 PM

Not sure if it's just me. Whenever I read about VPD being slammed on the media about whatever stupid thing they did, it just brings a sense a joy in my day now. E.g. Arresting the black judge (mistaken identity). The attitude they give the public shows they don't seem to give a damn. Taking account into recent years (say the past 10 years, they probably have issued way more Vi tickets in the past 2 years). So were the VPD not doing their actual jobs before? And why is noise such a big hot issue within their traffic department suddenly? Was noise not existence before LOL.

It's professional revenge based on when things ramped up a couple of years ago. Remember the red S15 Silvia that put "FUCK VPD" in big letters on the windshield at a car show in Vancouver of all places?
