When you spend 7 years modding your “sports car”, go through multiple engines, finally rebuilding from the ground up what you think will be the ultimate. Then turbocharge the whole deal. Only to watch 2 completely stock cars street race and say “damn those things are fast”.
Social media had created a generation of brain dead morons... lets blatantly break a law, and film it for the world to see.
The quest for attention is mind boggling.
I'd say it all started with the Jackass stuff. Filming yourself doing stupid shit.
Riding a shopping cart off the roof of a house.
I mean who thinks eating a tide pod and snorting cinammon was a good idea.
It's all down hill from there.

Gotta do things for the Likes. Nothing else matters. Brb, retaking photos 100x times cause it needs to get max attention/likes. Our future generation is going to be messed up if not already.
The heavily modified grey FRS from a couple months back that got 2-3 VIs ended up selling their car and getting a Supra in that exact same colour. The said Instagram page for that FRS/Supra is now gone too. Wonder if it's the same guy.
I remember the first VI blitz happened when F&F was first released. Now these two douchebags are just gonna give VPD the justification to keep targeting cars for VI, even though those cars might be stock.
I remember when F&F came out, they were targeting modded cars cause "we mod the cars so we can race" which was stupid. Now they'll lump all modded cars into this racing category again and say they will amp up enforcement to get rid of 'racers' cause 'you wouldn't modify your car if you are not planning to race'.
I don't know about others, but when I modded my Civic, I didn't do it for racing. It was artistic expression and I took really good care of the car. I wasn't about to take it racing and risk damaging it.
Wow look at that, despite ambient noise still being a problem (at least they're in a parking lot not on the side of the road) he's at least somewhat doing the test properly at an angle and 6-8 feet away.
All anyone is asking of VPD is that they be fair like this.
I went to the voluntary noise test in Victoria with my ITR for kicks. They let everyone know ahead of time no tickets would be issued. You could find out if you would fail the test at idle and at 2-3k throttle. I easily passed but not at 7000 rpm 86 db.
At the end they said asked you to rev it where many cars are over the legal noise limit and you could get a ticket for excessive noise. They warned there was zero tolerance starting the next day. They openly said they had learned from the Vancouver VI mess and would not give out a VI unless they catch you a 3rd time. They will be giving out $109 excessive noise tickets and do not need to test your noise level. Officer discretion and subjective opinion.
Also they said that all police chiefs across BC have been asked to target loud exhausts.

Good to hear that VicPD is doing the right thing the right way. This is how good and successful policing is done.
I am 100% supportive of a police crack down on excessive noise. But when the rule says the max sound limit is 83 dB, I expect enforcement to only catch those who are exceeding the sound limit, not someone who has the capability to exceed the sound limit.
Why is this so difficult for the VPD to understand?
