lol I filled up yesterday next to an Abarth 500. Fuck those things are loud.
I got pulled over by bike cop when I had mine back in 2014 around the post office by Georgia st / Stadium.
Cop was annoyed it was burble, cracking and popping.
Bike cop looked under, said my muffler was missing, told the guy it was stock and showed him google image. The guy Let me go and told me to drive safe.

Seriously old age has hit me and I can care less about loud exhausts.
lol, one step at a time for me. I finally decided to get rid of my crackle and pop tune after running it for the past 5 years.
I changed my turbo and downpipe this summer and I enjoy the new power, but my car kind of drones now when I'm on full boost. I bought some Noico sound deadender and going to see if I can quiet this down. ugh..

Well, I should reiterate that I don't hate louder than stock exhaust but I really dislike the obnoxiously loud ones. Like those Armytrix/Akrapovic (I assume) or whatever the hell it is that people install on their M2 (There's also 1 in neighboring building with that exhaust) that sounds like the the car is about to break down when it crackles on sport mode.

Drone at full boost would be okay by me. Drone at cruise would be a problem.
there's a difference between having a loud car, and being a dick imo
my car is pretty freakin loud if I want it to be, and i'll be the first to admit it. however, i don't drive like a dick and bang each gear everywhere i go, so it sounds pretty mild.
i've even checked in with my neighbours to ask if I annoy them and they never really notice me (living in a townhome complex). Same with a dood in my complex that has a badass white evo, i can tell it's loud but i barely notice him, just a grumble in and out of the complex.
on the other hand... there are lots of dick heads that bang their shitty 4 bangers up and down the road, and mustangs peeling out of a stop sign....
my point, have a dope ass ride, put whatever exhaust you want, just don't be a dick and ruin it for the rest of us.
Back in the day, having a loud exhaust also meant being respectful in your neighborhood/complex. These days that's so nonexistant. It's like a penis enlargement to show how small ones penis is by making sure one's exhaust is fucking loud. Maybe there's just a bunch of dickheads in my area

It's for the Tiktok now. #annoyyourneighborschallenge #loudchallenge
I'm finding really ironic or perhaps true to thread that I started this thread, yet on some minor level I'm hoping Delta PD steps up loud car enforcement in my area.
Always got some asshole in a straight piped viper blasting it through my residential area and up the highway. Highway noise never bothered me, but some asshole who rips up and down it does. If not that guy, a shitty r18 civic with a muffler delete, a mk4 golf, list goes on with shitty ppl downshifting right past my house.
Must be cause my E36 M3 is parked outside

Straight piped or not a Viper is probably gonna rattle your fillings.
The problem with VPD was they weren't just picking on loud exhausts, they were picking on a wild variety of other mods, some more/less deserved than others.
I'm getting old, I wish my M3 was quieter sometimes.
Vipers actually kinda sound like shit... I wish I was joking, but I'm not... even with aftermarket exhausts they sound terrible especially given it's a V10
I think the issue is that basically any car after 2005 started sounding like ass, with all the turbo charging, emissions etc. It wasn't like the good old days with the spoon n1 or vqs. All of the newer turbo cars just sound like an old man blowing through a straw but with farts. I think this started with the gtis with dsg.
Even new performance cars, M AMG sounded like shit once they turboed it. I think the only good sounding turbo car is the Gtr or STI but then that's like a 20 year old motor
Just compare the Na C63, current Mustang 5.0, Maserati Na V8, compared to the new turbo cars. The new Ferrari turbo Maserati, Alfa Romeo engines sounds like nothing. Even the urus, I was so disappointed when they put a V8 in a Lamborghini.
I think maybe if the car was supercharged it will still make decent sounds like the hell cat or jaguar V8 but turbo cars don't sound good even with exhausts. A45, type r
And at this point ev has already surpassed gas cars, any Tesla can easily out accelerate ice performance cars.
^^ that's if we have roads to drive it on. If you live in Van it sucks, you are in idling in stop and go bumper to bumper traffic all day. Then you have taxi, Uber drivers learning to drive, delivery vans think they own the road. If you are on a cruise somewhere yes, but you can't beat ev in city traffic.
DESIGNATED INSPECTION FACILITIES
Recommendation to Director of Police Services
Interpretation and application of Division 25 and the issuance of Notice and Orders
Recommendation
• Consideration should be given to review the practice of police directing motor vehicle operator’s attendance to specific Designated Inspection Facilities.
Spoiler!
Background
The OPCC received a number of complaints from the public, both regarding the specific conduct of police officers and of departmental policies and practices concerning the interpretation and application of the Motor Vehicle
Act Regulations (MVAR), specifically Division 25 and the issuance of Notice and Orders. The complaints received were related to the Vancouver Police Department traffic section.
Based on a review of concerns brought forward by the public, the Police Complaint Commissioner determined that there appeared to be a lack of clarity regarding the interpretation of Division 7.08 of the MVAR and whether police could direct the attendance to a specific Designated Inspection Facility. In addition, police practices relating to the noise testing of vehicles remained unclear and, that there appeared to be a need for greater training and policy
relating to that testing.
According to the complaints received by the public, the practice of the VPD has been to advise the driver that they must attend a specific Designated Inspection Facility, of the officer’s choice, when issuing the driver a Notice
and Order.
Division 7.08 of the MVAR appears to provide the authority for peace officers themselves to inspect and test a vehicle forthwith. The regulation does not appear to provide peace officers the legislated authority to direct a person to take their vehicle to a specific Designated Inspection Facility.
Upon review of Division 25, it also appears that a driver is to be afforded the opportunity to choose which Designated Inspection Facility they attend for the purposes of inspection and testing.
The OPCC was unable to locate any specific policy or formal training relative to roadside emission noise testing at the VPD. It appeared that any testing the VPD conducts is without the benefit of any legislative standards, and may
not adhere to industry standards. A Service and Policy complaint reviewed by the Vancouver Police Board yielded no resolution to the matter.
Making Change
Based on the complaints submitted to the OPCC and a review of the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, the OPCC determined that there has been a misapplication by the VPD Traffic Section of the authorities granted under the MVAR causing cost and considerable inconvenience to the public. As complaints to the Vancouver Police Board did not adequately address the matter, the Commissioner wrote to the Director of Police Services requesting that they review this practice by VPD to determine whether additional clarity is required to assist departments with the interpretation and application of this regulation.
Hahahahahs TLDR… just kidding everyone should read that.
I surprised they put that in writing they’re opening themselves up to a lot of lawsuits from people who had to spend thousands of dollars under the direction of some officers.

I still enjoy rowing through the first 2 gears and playing with the clutch in traffic rather than sit there in an auto. lol. Actually helps me get through mundane traffic.

At the very least, it shows that if enough people complain about it, they will acknowledge it.
I'm sure this will hold some value if you get a ticket for non-compliance for taking it to a non-dealership inspection centre and dispute it.

This part specifically. The people who passed their inspection and got follow up tickets (Failure to comply I think it was?) - given this i wonder if they can dispute these tickets or sue to get their money back.
