While I don't mind him getting people for speeding, Vancouver has some weird speed zones. Like why is Victoria dr the same speed as Marine dr.

JDMDreams 01-14-2022 05:07 PM

^ why is East Hastings 30kmh, I don't see them enforcing the jay walkers :accepted:

!Aznboi128 01-14-2022 05:11 PM

East Hastings at 30km/h is really for the safety of the people in that neighbourhood. You're right no one is really enforcing jay-walkers in that area and I doubt that's going to change so 30km/h in that area is fine by me.

those old corollas can get over 100km/hr? how did it not disintegrate :troll:

I've always theorized that if you keep it at 50. Then VPD can legally hand out tickets easier. No loss if it's 50 and people may go faster. The cop can ignore it. But if they set it at 60, 65, or whatever, then that's a lot less cars you can ticket when you need to boost revenue.

Then it's always just easier to say everything in the entire city is 50 (or 30), rather than have it varying all over the place. The common driver gets confused very easily, and we really don't need to complicate things any further.

Lol, I have a base, dark red 2000 Honda Civic sedan and claim that it’s impossible to get a speeding ticket in that thing.

a) the people jaywalking in that area have no money and can't pay fines
b) the people jaywalking in that area have no idea where they even are let alone the fact they're walking across a street

Some of you with heavily modded cars mention that you avoid coming through Vancouver, I just can't think how you can possibly do that even if, presumably, you live in Richmond, Burnaby, or Coquitlam. Or you just don't drive the farting exhaust one and use the minivan whenever you need to do errands or go through Vancouver?

JDMDreams 01-15-2022 09:27 AM

^^ yes I don't go to Vancouver to spend money, I choose to spend in Surrey, BBY, Coquitlam or Richmond. :lawl: and I drive the "normal" car to Van if I had to.

SSM_DC5 01-15-2022 09:36 PM

Modded one stays home with no insurance for the road, while I daily the other car that is less likely to attract attention.

GIZZ 01-16-2022 06:03 PM

On my obnoxious car, I put an electronic valve on my exhaust. It made it too quiet, I had to mod it louder.

twitchyzero 01-16-2022 06:17 PM

you also dont have to pay 25c per cup in burnaby :troll:

Did you put it inline or to a cutout?

lol, I stay on the outskirts along Boundary and Marine Dr. when I'm going from Burnaby to Richmond.

Not sure what is considered heavily modded tough. I used to live and work in Vancouver and cops haven't bothered me in the 5 years I was there with my modified car.

Just dont get caught on the main streets. Take the side streets not the major routes. Seems like they're always on major routes. Theres a lot of ways in and around Vancouver without ever driving a main road. Sometimes even during high traffic I just follow bike routes. Saves tones of time and usually faster than main roads.

wait - that's only in city of vancouver? i thought it was province wide! time to get mcd's from burnaby location instead :awwyeah:

@whitev70r I’ve driven my RS into Vancouver *once* since this VI thing started. I’ve hated Vancouver for years so it was a very easy transition. The only annoyance I run into is needing to get onto the sea to sky. Instead of going from Richmond up boundary to hwy 1, I’ll just go new west brunette or wtv Ave and jump on the hwy there. Ads like 10 minutes, not a big deal

Yah, and I was able to buy a plastic shopping bag in Richmond/Burnaby. I've learned to cut down on plastic bags but once in a while, it is practical to have them as garbage pail liners or whatever.

They're also phasing them out, especially if corporate. Even in CoV, you were allowed to sell plastic bags past the stupid thing coming into effect as long as it was old stock.

On that note, I fucking hate paper bags with no handles.

Inline because I didn't want to rework the whole exhaust. I stuck it after the last muffler. When it closes it forces the exhaust out another smaller tailpipe I added to the muffler.

Technically it's a BC VI fail, but it's really quiet and the exhaust at least shouldn't draw attention to the car.

I kind of wish I had incorporated one of these when I built my exhaust. The fact it's illegal is really irrelevant as they will give you a VI whether or not your legal or not. May as well deflect as much attention away as possible.

Over 3 years and here we still are.....

On a side note, anyone know if they were harassing motorcycles as hard? The riding forum seems pretty dead these days :/
