There was some info, I'm sure Traum has a database full of stuff but I believe the spirit of that law is supposed to be to attack people who are revving their engine... which was one of the arguments you could use at a traffic stop to not give them anything to read with their decibel meter since they're basically asking you to break the law/incriminate yourself.

So you would probably be left with going to court to say that you weren't revving your motor and you'd have to get an inspection to show that your car is under the legal limit and hope for the best... but even if you win, you're still out inspection money and a lot of time. Depends how bad you want to prove your point I guess... but crappy thing is the ticket carries points.

Actually, I am not very well-versed in disputing tickets at all. A gentleman by the name of Wilkins Chung from the now-semi-defunct Automotive Alliance FB group is far, far better than me at having an organized strategy to dispute tickets and challenge VI's. But IIRC, even some of his old strategies and recommendations are likely no longer effective because the VPD has adapted their way with issuing tickets / VI's to get around the procedural weakness that we have exposed.

For example, IIRC, the police officers don't tend to use decibel meters to get a noise reading anymore because we have pressured the OPCC on how the VPD were conducting the noise measurements incorrectly.

I'm curious more about the number of that excessive noise ticket being handed out, are they now swapping VIs for the exhaust ticket.

Well would you look at that list :considered:

So much scandal surrounding this guy, including the previous one about the person committing suicide. Guy clearly is a real shit bag.

TypeRNammer 03-14-2023 07:01 AM

Officer getting dismissed? Highly doubt it. Probably just a pat on the head and being told not to do it again.

SSM_DC5 03-14-2023 09:36 AM

Title said dismissed, but article said maybe 30 days no pay.

320icar 03-14-2023 09:56 AM

Wasn’t there a piece in the news about the vi’s the other night too? Saw it on someone’s IG story

Yeah, I noticed that too -- the video also said the officers could be fired from their jobs as a result of the hearing, but the written article only says “up to, and including, a suspension from duty, without pay, for up to 30 days”, so that's a night-and-day difference.

If I am reading the news article correctly, the 4 main violations these police officers are being accused of are:

1) abuse of authority
2) unnecessary use of force
3) neglect of duty for failing to complete required notes and reports
4) uncooperative with the investigation as required by the Police Act

It baffles me that when a (police) incident is as serious as resulting in the death of a person, a police officer might still not lose his job despite facing these allegations with "sufficient evidence". This is precisely how public confidence is lost towards the police.

GLOW 03-14-2023 10:47 AM

they can also leave and get hired in another jurisdiction.

i recall one officer quite high up left 1 city for another after some scandal, and still got hired knowingly

I remember very well when that happened. I heard from a secondhand source that the officers that were injured were suffering from being pepper sprayed... and not from the naked guy they beat to death.

heres another article highlighting all the screwed up shit cain has done..

https://globalnews.ca/news/9551195/n...al-myles-gray/

Great article that finally exploits Cain for everything he has done so far.

from my count:
-Murder (myles gray)
-Sexually exploiting a co worker leading to her suicide (cst. chan)
-Officer involved shooting (daniel rintoul)
-4 to 5 years worth of OPCC complaints from the car community

this guy is a bigger predator/criminal than the ones they're supposed to be protecting the public from, shame on the VPD if they keep him employed.

kungfucop 03-15-2023 02:24 PM

I heard through a reputable source that Cain is on stress leave. The reason for his stress is that he is being spied on or investigated by the same force/dept. he is serving. Probably just a matter of time before he retires early and collects his full benefits.

Stress for what? Not receiving praise for having the blood of three people on his hands?

Every time one of these cases pops up on reddit I am glad someone mentions his name and reminds us all that he's connected to. The general public will know his name.

This thread is quite amazing, and big props to guys like BIC and Traum who ran with the whole issue to the fullest. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is, as opposed to simply complaining online.

What's more fascinating is how illuminating this is in terms of the rampant abuse and malpractice by this officer Cain, and how long he's been able to get away with being such a shitty officer. His power tripping with VIs, all the way to murder and sexual exploitation of a fellow officer.

Makes you wonder how many Cains are running around in the VPD/RCMP.

Just another asshole bully who decided to join the police to enact his abuse with impunity, the red flags there are shocking.

trollface 03-19-2023 06:15 PM

It's a police union. You have to kill your co-worker live on TWITCH to get fired.

Is there anyone who knows people who knows people that can get confirmation that the Cain in this article is the same Cain?
https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/h...lawyer-5442293

westopher 04-17-2023 01:55 PM

Same one.
Same Cain that beat an unarmed man to death with 6 other officers.
Same Cain that had an inappropriate relationship with a junior officer that ended up with a suicide.

JDMDreams 04-17-2023 01:59 PM

Does anyone know if Cain? Christensen? Got transferred over to Langley?

westopher 04-17-2023 02:06 PM

Christiansen retired, but I believe Cain is part of the integrated road safety unit so he can fuck with drivers in any jurisdiction.

Add it to the list.

Has anyone contacted a city councillor or MP about this guy? I’m not talking about our VI situation, just the fact the guy is involved in every god damn news story regarding police over the last 5 years. How on earth is he still working?

I received some spam mail today from Joyce Murray. Maybe I’ll give her some info. Do those internet petitions actually work?
