  • This guy got VI'd for too low and negative camber (Lowered by > 1") (IIRC, Stock otherwise)

Also BadHobz got VI'd in a stock exhaust. On the Status group, someone got VI'd with a stock Jag

FIFY

ThatKoukiKid 10-19-2018 05:40 PM

So Cain just rode his bike beside me down cambie. Get into downtown I see the canopy truck literally giving a inspection on a 03 BMW 330I blue couple with wheels. Hood open and the cop is walking around it.

keifun 10-19-2018 05:48 PM

Just had a motorcycle cop drove beside me on cambie 8th. Right next to Wendy's. He was more so checking for cellphone usage as there are a bunch of red lights and traffic

He peered through my window to see if I was on my phone on a red light. Not sure if that's Cain. The cop I saw was dark skinned .

Illegal wheels.. i assume that applies to all aftermarket wheels? I wonder what will happen when we swap our winter tires on... A case could be made that all aftermarket (steelies included) are off road only?

MarkyMark 10-19-2018 06:28 PM

I hope my f150 is alright I gotta drive up to Horseshoe Bay tomorrow, it's stock height but it has aftermarket wheels, aftermarket exhaust and a full off road suspension lol.

yray 10-19-2018 06:29 PM

any regulation regarding wheels ? I know its kind of a grey area relying on dot/japan regs

I should swap my winter wheels in soon.... It's an oem set of wheels... from a previous gen.

That counts, right??'

Based on my personal and others' experiences thus far, it doesn't matter if your cars and parts are legal, the traffic constables can still pull you over and give you a notice for a VI.

In my scenario, I cited the specific MVA criteria regarding ride height and how my car complies but they simply told me the vehicle inspector will decide and sent me on my way with a box 2.

That is what is infuriating with it all. I'm okay with VIs on cars that truly deserve it, but to single out car enthusiasts - even if their car is completely legal - is not ok.

Agreed, but given that this is going on we should also be discussing how we can avoid being given a VI to the best of our abilities.

yray 10-19-2018 07:15 PM

^don't drive

Any mechanics that can do vehicle inspections should follow Cain and then do a roadside inspection waiving the ticket :troll:

You can't avoid it...

The only options I see are to stay out of Vancouver, as it seems like only a few VPD cops are the one's handing out the VI's. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Or drive a non-performance vehicle that is completely stock, that doesn't have any aggressive sporty aesthetics. (Although it seems YMMV still).

Other than that, it's really just a game of cat and mouse, and hope you don't run into Cain and crew.

I'm hearing some noise that Surrey RCMP is actually handing out VIs now. Wow don't they have smt better to do like the gang violence?

VR6GTI 10-19-2018 07:34 PM

Could be completely irrelevant but last Sunday in Coquitlam at 3pm lougheed and Westwood there was a cop standing in the middle of the road stopping every car like a DUI checkpoint. Thought it wa kinda odd at that hour.

RIP e46. Since BBS looks oem, I wonder if you can get away with it by slapping on BMW wheelcaps LOL. Regardless of which, I've already swapped to stock rims. fcuk this shit.

Does anyone know if having an intake is grounds for a VI? My intake is factory BMW performance.

320icar 10-19-2018 08:44 PM

^^^. Before they even pull you over, they know if you’re getting a VI or not. So don’t lose sleep over it cuz It’s out of your control

Second this.

I use the Series 1 RX-8 18" stock wheels for winters and Series 2 18" stock wheels for summers.

R1CED` 10-19-2018 09:13 PM

this could be effective for a week or two

after election, an Mitsubishi with winglets or a stock bimmer M CS getting pulled over will be on the back burner for politicians

definitely worth a try right now

Mr.C 10-19-2018 09:33 PM

What, they're going after non-OEM wheels too?

Good thing Alpina/Schnitzer were available at the dealer lol

westopher 10-19-2018 09:55 PM

My wheels were purchased and installed at the dealer, to an E36 m3 in San Fran back in 96.

It's municipal elections not provincial or federal.

What do you think a politicians job is? It's there job to listen to there constituents. E-mail or call them. You would be surprised how many respond.
