Pretty sure this Cain guy is bringing his personal bias/ grudges to work. I thought officers were suppose to be bias free. This guy is just targeting a group of people. Or maybe he's trying to move up in the office , he's found an easy target. Those VI tickets probably makes him look good to his superiors.
Can the guys that got vi just send in mass complaints? There must be some sort of escalation or ombudsman. Or tweet, link directly to vpd Twitter or fb
Has anyone in contact with the media opened the door into potential for corruption with the way this entire law is enforced... ie: if I was a cop and my brother owned Vancouver Honda or was the manager there or whatever... I could spend my entire day pulling over Honda's and referring them to dealership for VI and make him a mint.
There's usually multiple checks for this stuff at all levels of government, but with the way these rules are being enforced it's entirely the officer's discretion and direction. No oversight. That's always bad.
They shouldn't be able to specify where to go, it's not their job or right to 'police' whether shops are legit or not... that's ICBC's job, otherwise why do we even have an accreditation process for vehicle inspections at shops if only dealerships can do it right (according to the VPD). If I was a third party shop right now paying to have licensed inspectors on my staff I'd be super pissed with this.
hundreds of us should protest outside vpd hq, that should draw some attention...also, has this happened in any other major metropolitan cities that you know of? Vancouver is really a no-fun city..

Perhaps a petition to start in conjunction to the letters? With the media angle being focused on the fact that theres no cheques and balances to protect hard working people from what comes across as harassment and bring to light the need for more education and systematic approach to dispute vi's etc.

Everyone bring their cars back to stock, and drive to the letter of the law. Speed limit, full stop everywhere, no hard acceleration, just fucking granny drive it everywhere. Remember that keep right except to pass only applues on highways...

I don’t even know where I’m going with this rant except to just vent I guess. A lunch and haircut on a rare day off work ends up costing me over $300. Not only did I get a box2, this officer decided to give me a ticket for $109 for section 219(1). This is only my second ever ticket in 19 years of driving.
I’ve skimmed thru a few pages in this thread and it’s the same officer Cain.
Wow, sames sames. Raised my car back up, slapped my stock exhaust and called it a day. Waiting for my inspection now.
