it's not definitive quota as in fines
they can give out warnings and that will count towards 'quota'

obviously if they all gave out only 100% warnings, I don't think that will fly either.

the truth is probably somewhere in the middle

moot point as most of the poh poh hate here is squarely on the VPD, not RCMP

BIC_BAWS 10-26-2018 10:50 PM

So a reporter from CTV News just pm'd me regarding this thread. As I personally do not have a story to tell, as stated in OP, I am trying to facilitate this process.

As a result, please PM me and list below your username if interested in potentially a story.

The stocker the car the better for their story. The average citizen should also (justifiably) feel under threat by the abuses and actions of the VPD recently.

use2bavolvo 10-26-2018 11:29 PM

come on guys we need some of you to step up and get this into the news to shut this down

Badhobz 10-27-2018 12:04 AM

I'd do it, but I fear further prosecution. Plus I'm not exactly sure I wanna be the face of this thing. Maybe they can blur out my face and then deep throat my voice lawl...

BIC_BAWS 10-27-2018 12:07 AM

I agree that anonymity will be important. And I sympathize with your concerns, as I have the same ones. I will contact the reporter and see if we can work out some sort of anonymity. I could see some backlash here with the police and general public and that's not something that I want on public record.

update:
COP NEVER CALLED ME BACK

Office never called me back and my car is uninsured, and I don't even know what to do or where to look . This is the only car I have to drive around .... and its kind pmo now.

Can't even talk to a supervisor because Christenssen is the supervisor...

what would you guys do. Just not drive the car anymore ? or I don't know I asked to talk to the officer but he doesn't seem to give af... this is some bs

JDMDreams 10-27-2018 08:36 AM

^^ I think you are a good candidate to tell your story to ctv

mj_39 10-27-2018 09:28 AM

I think there are a few ways this needs to be looked at if ctv is investagating and all involved should step up.

- this said officer/traffic team is acting out of spite
- vehicles that are completely stock are being stopped
- vehicles that are slightly modified but are within the MVA are being stopped(clear lack of knowledge/training)
- officer forcing an inspection at specific locations
- out of pocket cost to prove innocence with no way to dispute

You mean persecution, right?

True.True 10-27-2018 10:03 AM

This Officer Cain is clearly uninformed about the MVA rules. He’s basically using scare tactics and his authority to place VIs on all these vehicles.

On my situation alone:
-says my car is too low on the fact that I don’t have 1” fender/tire gap.
-says my exhaust is illegal because it is not OEM

I’m not even mad about getting a VI anymore. I’m infuriated that he’s going around spewing false MVA rules. I hope someone with the right avenues and resources can make this issue more visible. I, personally, will be writing a letter to the chief about my personal experiences in this matter.

prudz 10-27-2018 10:32 AM

Can VI's be contested? Can someone escalate a VI into a courtroom and if so how?

As someone has already mentioned. Small claims court

That's not a good idea, look at his car, it has a chassis mount wing, and loud exhaust.

While the situation of multiple VI's might be infuriating, or the handling of it by police (not returning calls or whatever). But if you ultimately deserved the VI's because your car doesn't meet standards then you are just going to make us all look stupid getting on TV.

Besides, most people might wonder what the fuck is up with the herpes mask.

BIC_BAWS 10-27-2018 12:05 PM

Ok, the reporter has gotten back to me:

I wouldn’t mind speaking to you off the record, providing you anonymity as requested, but I am looking for at least one person in the Revscene community who would be willing to go on the record and speak to me on camera.

As you can imagine, it would give the story more credibility if someone affected is willing to show their face and provide their name.

snowball 10-27-2018 12:49 PM

I think skunkworks would've been a good candidate but he sold his car? :\

Definitely don't drive if your 30 days are up, as your not insured.

What I would do? Find a DIF and pass the inspection, go to ICBC with the inspection and get your insurance.

Yea that's how the news outlet work. They are happy to run a story if they think it can generate a buzz. They do need to put a face and name to the story to humanize it, otherwise, they're not gonna run the story. Hard to generate any sort of buzz for viewership with anonymity.

use2bavolvo 10-27-2018 09:19 PM

we are a group of whining pussies and deserved to take it in the ass when cain comes around. Someone grow a pair and get this interview done. the popo are obviously relying on the fact were a bunch of useless tits whom cant get organised for a meet let alone something more serious like taking back the right to drive our car's.

mikasaur 10-27-2018 11:54 PM

What happened to all the "stock" cars that got VIed, suddenly don't want your chance at redemption?

And if not, you'd think with all the rattle cans, stance, and boy racer wings, you people would actually jump at the chance for real attention.

R1CED` 10-28-2018 12:09 AM

whoever goes on record should just present facts, and leave emotions, conspiracies and the blame-game out of it

and don't mention REVscene, I don't suppose that is a name the general public can sympathize with.

jackal 10-28-2018 12:33 AM

might be interesting to bring up the "highway of dreams" (i think thats what it was called) that was at the pne and explain how all of those cars also fall into this category. the news was all over those cars this year talking about how much people loved seeing them and kids talking about how cool they looked. each and every one of those would get slapped with a vi based on the way they are enforcing the mva right now,

littledog 10-28-2018 06:05 AM

I am sorry if this has been answered already. I admit I didn't actually go through the whole 36 pages of the thread.

1.) Anyone actually got a VI for a completely stock car? I mean COMPLETELY, no modifications at all.

2.) For those who got VI'ed, anyone passed the inspection without changing anything on their car at all?

I drive in Vancouver everyday and would just like some information regarding this matter.

Thank you in advance.

Don't think this has been posted yet. Found this article while googling about BC vehicle inspection. Not sure what the outcome of this article was coming from a smaller news outlet based out of the Okanagan and in 2015. Gives an idea of what a news interview/article might look like.

bcedhk 10-28-2018 09:48 AM

i think those who had a VI with the side license plate should come up.

Then the news can pressure the police to ask why certain cars (e.g. evo x, most of the new alfas, etc.) have side license plate from the factory, and whether they can point to the MVA on what is being infringed.
