can someone tell me why someone would think those pushbar bumpers.would be safe for on road use |
https://victoria.craigslist.ca/cto/d...743173170.html no front plate = VI? wtf would think that just gets a ticket |

so... if you had a Land Rover Discovery does the front plate have to be offset as well? https://proxy.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=h...3Dw50_9Abr&f=1 |
Might have to put a front plate on the ITR if you can get a VI not worth the hassle |
vi for no front plate is so incredibly dumb what the hell is the shop gonna tell you 'uhh yeah your vehicle is unsafe because it's missing a thin piece of metal' damn i hope someone will save that Jurassic Park jeep...i dont know i feel way more unsafe behind a flatbed tow trucks that has the deck/ramp at the height of my neck https://cinemavehicles.com/images/F142563285.jpg |

I think the most unsafe, yet common modification that I see are the raised pickup trucks. https://www.sherry4x4.com/wp-content...s-for-sale.jpg |
Can we get real here? No modification is inherently unsafe. When you lift your truck, you don’t go driving the same way you would in a sports car. It’s just the same as if you add camber to your wheels, and then drive more moderately when it rains because you have less of a contact patch. We can’t be okay with one modification that is known to be “unsafe” and then say another is unsafe. Double standards will just complicate everything. We all need to be on the same team here if we want this to go away. |
Well having your bumper hit someone in the side window instead of the door actually is unsafe, or having giant bash bars, or 9 degrees of camber in some shitty Nissan sedan so yeah, some mods are unsafe. People need to use some common sense as well if they want it to go away. Again, those of us with modifications that fit within the MVA guidelines shouldn’t be in the same categories that don’t. On top of the issue that many MVA guidelines are unclear or arbitrary. |

crash bars are not made equal http://wafflesatnoon.com/wp-content/...ailLights1.jpg and you can tell it is tucked in further from the platform, hence if a vehicle with a short hood (honda fit, smart fortwo) slams into it, their heads are gone |
high rate of speed isn't gonna save you. |

If you truly cared about your own safety, you wouldn’t be driving a car like an E36 M3 that literally crumples like peanut brittle in a side impact crash situation That’s the whole reason that people buy SUVs and trucks. Because of the same concerns that you have. I don’t believe others should have to be restricted in their modifications, just because you feel unsafe in your 25 year old car. |
Do you think a window has the same crash protection as a door? Second of all, I don’t make the rules for lift kits, they exist for a reason. Perhaps you should look at the crash tegra posted above. There is a maximum bumper height for that reason. I don’t care, jack up your truck 8 feet, as long as it has protection to keep cars from going under it. Also I’ve been hit by a pickup truck at nearly 60km/h drivers side once already in an e30. Once I was cut out of the car I walked away. I feel plenty safe in my car as long as people on the roads are only partially idiots. |
Is there any evidence to support that jacked up trucks aren't getting VI's in Vancouver? I'd be shocked to hear that through all this shit recently a truck like the one in the accident posted above wouldn't get a VI right now. If Jeep's are getting nailed a truck rolling on 35s with no mudflaps isn't getting a pass. |
I’m sure they are. I’m not out with a pitchfork for trucks. Just trying to make the point that not all mods are equal. It’s the same as lowering a car 2 inches with a proper alignment or slamming it, putting 195/40s on an 18x10 et-34 with -13 camber. Mods done with some sense and those that aren’t shouldn’t be created equal. |

I got pulled on hwy 1 just between langley and abby in my work truck 3 months ago, cop asked basic questions regarding the lighting (Flood lights around the truck, lightbars up front, and a beacon lamp). He mentioned covers for some of the lights, but as soon as I showed him my registration for having the amber beacon on the truck he realized he's just stopping someone who is trying to do a job, so he let me go. It's also valuable to note, he did a good check around my trailer as well, and asked some semi intelligent questions about my load and how it was strapped, as well as asked me to demonstrate my trailer brakes and stuff. I was impressed with the cop, he asked the right things to ensure quickly that I wasn't committing any blatant safety violations, and he never gave any incorrect information. |
they don't do lifted trucks because the cops probably do it themselves :lawl: |

And you just know he was riding them the minute he got back to his office..... Keepo |

If you take a look on craigslist, there are a few vehicles selling due to vi. like: https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rch/...714420216.html https://images.craigslist.org/00a0a_...iy_600x450.jpg |
That YJ has tons of tire poke, a stubby bumper, heavy suspension mods, and definitely over 10cm of lift. It's also 24 years old and who knows how crusty underneath. Quote:
