I spotted this at the Richmond Oval about a month ago.
Someone in here must know who the owner is.

Slammed life!

This used to be the case, there was basically no officiating of inspections on vehicles... shops had licenses from ICBC but nobody checked up on them... it was wild wild west, you could just pay a shop $80 and they wouldn't even look at it if you knew someone who knew someone............ a LOT of rebuilt cars got put back on the road with horribly repaired damage this way.

About 5-6 years ago they tightened the whole thing up, stripped licenses from tonnes of shops... shops are afraid to fart the wrong way now and the price of an inspection skyrocketed they're between $130-180 depending where you go. Canadian Tire for example won't even do them anymore unless it's an OBD2 car and even if you know the people they're picky as can be... arguments on both sides whether that's goor or bad, probably mostly good for safety reasons... but it can be a royal pain in the ass financially if a bunch of piddly little things are wrong with your car (ie: cracked mounts or bushings etc... not really "safety" stuff but it's there).

Man I'm really interested to see how many "stock" cars here are getting vi's.

I feel like a lot of this is being blown out of proportion.

Badhobz 10-01-2018 04:24 PM

i dont run in mainlander circles (although i should... since im shanghainese and i need 20 more concubines) but im sure majority of these VI's are going out to these fobby kids with exotics. They aint going to fight it, they dont even know why they are getting pulled over 99% of the time.

Hey folk's i am new to this fourm and i am from Mission,BC a friend of mine metioned about this thread thought id chime in because of what happend today, I was running errands in Vancouver boundary and marine area and was pulled over and VI'd for illegal projector headlights.

we have a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe and they don't come standard with projectors, ive got them professionally retrofited and aimed correctly, the housing pretty much looks stock with projectors. As we live in a dark rural area and my wife drives the tahoe mostly i want my family to be safe in those dark roads.

Ive been driving with the projector retrofit for 5 years and have never been hasseld only been pulled over for front tint last winter but it was only a verbal warning to remove it, which i did, My tahoe is on a leveling kit and 33s with a aftermarket exhuast only thing VI'd was my headlights which is the most important saftey feature i need, so i am lost at this point not sure what to do id hate to go back to stock halogens.

If you're on a levelling kit, then I don't think it matters whether your projectors are aimed correctly. You will still be blinding 90% of vehicles on the road regardless. Sorry bud, don't think we're talking about the same types of VIs here.

Ya i noticed most VI reported on here were close to or pretty much stock, thought id share my experince that's all it just suck's cause ive passed so many cops and Dui checkpoint's never been hassled for it even for tinted front windows was good for 4 years.

yea, I'm sorry you went thru that. I had projectors in my cars for years and had no problems.

Got the video? Or I guess we are waiting for OP to officially post it?

So is this just one cop on a vengeance or a group of officers? Are these cops staking out or just driving around and randomly pulling cars over when they find one that looks (lightly) modded?

Thank you for at least doing the headlight retrofit the right way. You can look around on the various VI threads here, but to answer your question. You can actually install ultra bright halogens. I would also check your headlight lens to see if they are glazed over. If so, I would either refinish it or replace it. It makes a world of a difference when it is severely glazed over.

You'll likely have to return the truck to full stock. This includes, but not limited to: stock rims, removal of leveling kit, and removal of projectors.

snowball 10-01-2018 07:09 PM

Let's keep this thread for cars that are lightly modified and to our best knowledge, legal. Otherwise it defeats the OPs originally intended purpose. We can't defend cars with obvious MVA violations nor should we offer suggestions on how to circumvent a VI.

twitchyzero 10-01-2018 07:26 PM

WTF, they are targeting retrofitted projectors now? that's ridiculous. We go out of our way not to blind people trying to improve light output in inclement conditions. It's dark as balls for 4-5 months of the year and halogens aren't gonna do shit in the rain for staying in my lane.

guess I have to wait a few minutes for the 5500K HID to warm up before I enter the roadways...yellow DRL might need to go too...otherwise so stock it'll offend Timpo

do officers have access to VI history?

if so me thinks they'll be extra pissed finding out you're gaming the system and think of other ways to make the second offense much heavier

GS8 10-01-2018 07:55 PM

As someone who is prone to photophobia, driving for me nowadays can suck. A stock oncoming new RDX can fuck me up.

Luckily, I don't do much rush hour commuting anymore.

Hcoreposer 10-01-2018 07:56 PM

I guess posting in the police forum won't help explain anything? Getting a little worry some. Definitely been going into Neutral towards a stop/lights and shifting at 3k now. Might be time to put in my silencer too.
