The SHO vehicles are not bad actually.
Truth is, a well maintained Ford can last a long time. Even better when they're worth maintaining like the limited editions. I would love to get my hands on a 2004 Mustang Cobra, or a nice GMC Typhoon. The stang should still be working, while the Typhoon would probably need close to a ful resto before it would be reliable.
My first vehicle was a 1986 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder. It was a POS, but we got 250,000 km out of it. That is, before it failed in a specacular fashion with many engine parts strewn along the road.
The SHO engine pictured is the shitty V8 one that came in the soap bar Taurus and automatic only...you want the Yamaha designed V6 one with a manual.
I used to have a red 1994 Taurus SHO 5-spd... underrated car let down by parts bin choices. American car with Japanese engine and Mazda transmission and a french clutch. Great engne in a shitty chassis, that engine was marvelous looking and sounding.
There was a silver 1994 SHO for sale last week, bone stock, really good condition, manual and everything for $2500 IIRC. I actually had to give money to my wife so I WOULDNT go buy it.
Selling my 1990 Mazda Miata. Currently has a box 2 vi. Hoping to sell it to someone more mechanically inclined and can get it back on the road. The car runs well, body is in good shape. Feel free to email if you have any questions!
The only problem with the v8 sho is that it’s slow.
Rather get a 2007 impala ss, v70 r, e55 amg, gmc syclone, v8 gran prix, v6 supercharged regal gs, or this
lmao for what, the panda paint job?

Quick question: has anybody had trouble with moderately modified vehicles going across the border? I'm planning a trip down south with an Acura TL lowered on springs and a moderately loud exhaust (XLR8).
i drove a loud af rhd FC across the border, and other than asking me to shut the car off they didn't bat an eye. this was about 10 yrs ago though, ymmv lol

You'll be fine, I drove over in my accord that touched the ground, loud exhaust etc and the guy even said nice car.

Nope, that’s not their job. When I go down for track days it usually end up being a nice conversation about cars until they say “...weeeellll I should letcha go before this line gets bigger”

Never had an issue in my lowered and loud Civic. I was only asked how long the car has been the way it was one time. All other times, they never asked anything about the car.
Only trouble there is, is when smart-ass border cops on the US side, try to tell your your VIN on your JDM rhd vehicle is wrong. Or when they ask if ur selling ur car on the other side.
Only trouble I've had is being yelled at for my notoriously loud brakes (Hawk HP+), and that's reasonable LOL.
I've crossed over a bunch, and never had an issue.
I did have one guy tell me that I should carry all my receipts with me cause how would he know if I got some of the stuff on the car put on while I was down there (specifically referring to the air system in the trunk). I laughed at his face, and told him there was no way I put an entire air system in my car in the 9 hours I spent over the border, it took 3 fucking weeks to do. Retard.
Keep a binder of receipts in my car just to cross over, fuck off.

sounds like your attitude was the problem, not him doing his job

Maybe it was more of a "Dont arrest me" chuckle.
But I mean come on, one look at the car and it's apparent that the work performed was not done between my grocery shopping and other misc. errands.
Either way trying to tell someone that they need to keep a stack of receipts in the vehicle is stupid, I have pictures on my phone which clearly show the mods being completed LONG before the trip down. So again, a situation where someone in a position of authority is giving wrong information for people to follow. No different that cops giving incorrect information regarding the MVA and issuing VI's.
