I would argue that at the court, whatever the cop wrote wouldn't stand up to a challenge since there is no mention of that in the MVA. But in your case, it doesn't really matter though since there seems to be other issues that you might have to fix. And besides, who really has the resources to fight the police like this?

This is why this whole VI thing sucks.

I agree, there's no time to fight it. I was really surprised to get a box 2 as it seems to be pretty thin justification. I felt that maybe a 3 and a fine/violation for the plate would have been more reasonable.

That's not annoying enough to just pay a fine. He wants to inconvenience the shit out of everyone. Can't wait for spring to roll around so we can finally see them in full flight and finally get something in the news.

it was a R32, not R34. cops were walking around looking at stuff on the R32. also a bike was on a flatbed as well. no insurance? or were they racing each other? lol

Isn't there no recourse for the VI process. You can't really bring this to court unless you filed a civil lawsuit or something.

I have a random question for you guys. Seems like people in here know the MVA pretty well. Aside from getting a VI within minutes, are snow tracks legal for public roads in B.C.? I assume they’re fine on FSR’s and off road, but say you lived up north and actually got 5’ of snow for 6 months a year, are snow track systems legal for on road use?

I would wager no, but on the prairies people ride their snowmobiles right to the gas station in the winter. I'd say if the snow was really bad enough that you needed tracks to get around the RCMP isn't exactly able to get out and about either.

yourself 12-20-2018 11:10 AM

They are just bored because weed is legal, the courts are backed up with violation tickers as it is, and this is an easy way to look like they are making a difference, without further adding to the list of violation ticket disputes.

∆ are they even allowed to go to your house and enforce that you have your car VI'd? Seems kinda BS to me. What if it's in the garage and they can't see it. Doesn't that mean they would need a warrant?

I bought my old Passat from an RCMP officer (who put a louder muffler on it, BTW), and a week after I bought the car, he visited me at home to see how things were going.

This just sounds like straight up harassment, and more reason for most of us outside of Vancouver to not go anywhere west of Boundary.

They're just making sure we'll be safe for the holidays, one VI at a time .

Motorcycle cop hiding on the corner with his lights off on Kingsway two blocks west of boundary. Stay away.

Good guy officers keeping me fit by discouraging me from going out for some late night mcD's or churches

68style 12-20-2018 11:23 PM

Wow what a waste of time if it’s true they went to his house. I find that hard to believe somehow but... that’s just an outright waste of tax dollars if they are, 2 full salary police officers conducting follow up investigations on notices they’ve issued? This is as poor a use of time as there is.

yourself 12-21-2018 02:00 AM

Well it’s not like they have anything better to do while their wives are out getting blacked by Tyrone and friends.

Considering the guy got $1200 in tickets and an instant tow, they might see it as justified.

68style 12-21-2018 07:05 AM

LOL well... helps to know the whole story I guess.

JDMDreams 12-21-2018 09:23 AM

Should we just chip in and buy a trailer for the instant tows now

Sorry, but what was the point of posting that baiting image just to follow up with a juicy bit of info to make it more reasonable?

Why is it that things happen, and then there's always more to the story that doesn't get shared or come to surface until later?

Badhobz 12-21-2018 03:22 PM

Ever since they started this crap Vancouver's been awash in boring ass cars. Well done cops. Well done.
