I don't think most VPD gives any shits. Just Cain and his therapy group.

Heads up driving into the city on Kingsway!

Just saw a lone officer standing on the corner of Kingsway and St. George pulling over cars as they drove by. He had a white Lancer Evo parked (looked lowered), and was going through a light/blinker and horn routine with a completely stock early 2000s civic. That driver looked so baffled. The officer just let him go when he ended up showing him that his lights worked...

He definitely wasn't trying to catch speeders, as he was standing on the side of the road with just a red flashlight.

Tell that useless idiot that his co-workers are doing a great job keeping the community safe.

Every day now, I will see at least one idiot driving with just his DRLs on. Many times, it will be m least taore than one.

meh, rear-side lighting doesn't matter unless poor vis conditions (fog/heavy rain/snow)...at least in the city and assuming their brake lights and DRL are functioning. To me it's pot meets kettle, either your own headlamp lights aren't on/not bright enough, or you weren't paying attention and/or driving too fast

i agree VI is mostly worthless from a safety standpoint, they should put most resources into stopping behaviours that actually cause accidents (distracted driving, driving high)

Heads up on marine and elliot heading westbound. Speed trap there but cop pulled me over and handed me a vi

TouringTeg 01-05-2019 12:36 PM

Things are heating up today (Sat Jan 5th). @alec.choy with v10 manual R8 and crazy colorful wrap got threatened with VI for loud exhaust. Exhaust and rest of the car is stock. They let him go.

@reggie.mah pulled over as well in his S15. Not sure if he got a VI yet but safe to assume he did.

bigzz786786 01-05-2019 12:37 PM

@jc604 details? Are you heavily modified? was the vi justified? What was the reason (what caught his eye) for the officer to oull you over?

I was approaching a red light and slowing down before elliot and when i was stopped at the light and the officer ran out to pull me in. My car is a 370z with amuse kit lowered on springs with a good finger gap between my wheels that dont have poke, also got intake and exhaust which are both pretty quiet when driving conservatively

For reference this is my car tht got a vi

bigzz786786 01-05-2019 12:47 PM

^jeez, sorry to here that, did you manage to record it on your phone? Video evidence could help your case. Of course the cop was probably going with the "visible camber" vi.

Traum 01-05-2019 01:34 PM

Mind to share what the cop VI-ed you for?

That got a VI? I’m never driving into Vancouver again.

I traveled the same route last Sunday around 2pm, I was doing 75km and I saw this bright green patch far away, and I knew it was a cop because I travel this route so often, never seen bright green patch in that area. Cruised to 50km, passed the cop holding his radar gun across his chest then right when I passed him, an RDX literally blew right by me, so I couldn't even tell what the intent of the cop was trying to do.

For reference, my car is loud and looks low to the ground because I'm running on some meaty winter tires =P. Just don't even know what these guys are up to anymore. I've also driven past the police station, in front, behind, beside VPD, no issues (knock on wood).

RevYouUp 01-05-2019 02:12 PM

Jesus , that 370z does not deserve a VI. It'll probably pass with no changes..sucks how there's no disputing it. I mean if you pass with flying colors VPD should compensate the inspection costs or atleast reverse the ticket ...

ncrx 01-05-2019 02:25 PM

since the vpd are employed by the city of vancouver

Ps. Sorry, the same link, above

ButterFingers 01-05-2019 03:50 PM

Should just have hundreds of people stand infront of the VPD dept.

nexusxv 01-05-2019 04:08 PM

I was thinking about putting piece of paper on every poll in a city with explanation how VPD actually makes peoples "safe" + with suggestion not to prolong VPD contract... just need one night and few people

herman 01-05-2019 04:24 PM

The mayor of Vancouver is the chair and spokesperson for the VPD board. If it can be shown that VPD actions are impacting visits to Vancouver, tourism, local businesses, popularity of the mayor elect, etc... then the mayor may act.

Reggie's IG post and ncrx's link to CoV fraud report are steps in the right direction. If Vancouver is now anti-car enthusiast, it should be publicized internationally. If it affects local and international visits to Vancouver, CoV will notice.

The mayor, Kennedy Stewart, needs to feel inclined to act on the issue.

Any car that shows up to the Vancouver Auto Show this year for the Jack Poole Plaza display is now a target. Watch them set up shop as the cars drive in.

325isMSPORT 01-05-2019 04:48 PM

"camber beyond fenders"
"wheels stick past body work"
"Visible camber" - 2.8 or more (most performance RWD specs within 2.8 rear)
Look at majority of modern cars they all do that out of the factory.

If there's no progress with any sort of anti-movement, I'm actually kind of hoping something like this happens.

At the moment, it feels like the VPD are just taking pot-shots. We can't gather any solid evidence... Dare they try to round up everything in mass especially at an annual exhibit, and there should be a big organized backlash then.
