My Homemade Snow Track
 

Made this some years ago and it seemed to have worked in the snow. Constructed from an ikea shelf and cut aluminum pieces I had laying around.

What does it do?

It tracks snow?

When a tire is spinning in snow or mud you put this under for traction to get unstuck... specially for pulling out of a snowed in street parking spot.

Probably will puncture your tires when you put this under your wheels. lol

It has sharp edges but nothing protruding.

My rear wheel drive, mid engine van does okay over snow... and I have massive tires now which Im wondering how much better they'll perform.

Zipties make the construction simple and give a bit of leeway to wrap around a rough ground surface.

Or you could have just stuck your floor mats (or cardboard) there.. but points for creativity!

Floor mats definitely do not work and you will end up ruining them haha. Ask me how I know.

This is what I was thinking... the mats would probably just slip through if the snow is deep enough.

Use McDonalds trays!

haha I tried this before, it works for some mats not all.

Most mats are carpet on both sides which are horrible, But I had these crappy Canadian tire rubber matts that had these small spikes to hold it in place THOSE worked great! Got a few cars unstuck from a hill last time I had them in my trunk.

Always use in pairs, or else all this work will go unused.... stupid open diff
