Wheels for Winter Tires
Do aftermarket wheels need aluminum hub centric rings? Went to kal tire and they said I had to purchase this too with the wheels. Is it better to go with steelies instead for winter?

steelies or not, you still need them. unless of course you buy OE steelies/alloys that have proper hub bore to start with.
You can get away without it with aftermarket wheels but not reccomended.
