did not notice that, but after what you said, the side profile really does look like a dodge dart.

If you take out the extra bottom end portion of the front headlight that sweeps to the outer side, the front headlight is exactly like a kia optima.

I saw the hatchback at night once, the rear tailights look really nice, unique and refreshing in a sense.

I just cannot believe how a base corolla hatch with a manual ends up being $26k OTD, almost seems absurd to me.

What happened to 20k-23k OTR for a compact car? so expensive...

You can get a base elantra, manual transmission with no AC for $16k OTD...

I don't know how you survive in the summer here in a car without A/C. Either you don't drive it in the summer or it's a convertible.

And supposedly, accessory A/C is not as good as A/C that's installed from the factory. And it's probably more complicated to install one nowadays with all the electronics. For a little more money, I choose to not hate myself during summer.

My RX-8 has A/C and that can feel insufficient during hotter days of summer. Checked the specs with FSM and it works according to the specs. Apparently it's just kinda weak. Oh well.

It still works. When you blow warm air towards the windows, they will still take the moisture away with them.

It works better with A/C, though, and sometimes I turn A/C on and turn off defrost because I like some warm air towards my face and body.

^ everyone's different man, like how some ppl swear they can't survive without AC in their apartment while I get by just fine with fan. I do agree it's unbearable if you park without shade for an entire afternoon in 28C+ but that's maybe only a week or two in a year

I know once you have been spoiled by AC, you can't go back.

IMO as long as you live in the lower mainland, you don't really need AC in the summer except for a few days that were really hot. Even for those few hot days, as long as you are driving and not stuck in traffic, it's totally doable with air/breeze blasting with windows open, not uncomfortable by any means.

Now if you live in the interior or other parts of Canada or the states where it gets really hot in the summer, AC is must.

For me, I get by fine every summer for the past 7 years I had my car with no AC (I drive 5 to 6 days a week consistently in the summer too), except for the few times during the summer when I decided to cross the border and sat in the blazing sun, I almost passed out...

^funny how R1CED mentioned that, when it gets hot with the blazing sun, I always find the perfect shade spot or just learn to park so your windshield isn't facing the sun. It helps even if you have AC so your interior isn't cooked when you first get in.

The same way every vehicle without AC has defrosted? I don't even bother turning on the AC when I have the defroster on, cracking a window makes far more of an impact in the speed of clearing the glass.

But that's exactly the problem: you get stuck in the traffic because constructions are going on everywhere in the summer, and there are times you park your car outside. If you can somehow avoid those situations then yeah I guess.

And you can't really compare car fans to house fans. At least the air going through fans in a house will only be as hot as the environment. For a car, however, the air can get much hotter in the vent from sunbaked parts, and most cars' cabin air intake system will also take some heat from the engine bay as well.

I think it looks better than the existing bulbous one. At least it looks more streamlined and .... Dare I say it.... Fast..ish ? I kinda want one again. 160hp on the higher trims and available in a 6speed on the se model

The new sedan's rear seems like an improvement compared to the front.

I love the way the hatch looks but shame they cut down on cargo and rear seat room so much.

Not sure what a good pick in compact segment is these days... Civic 1.5T having fuel dilution issues, Golf got downgraded from 1.8T to 1.4T... maybe the new Mazda 3?

After taking a second look, if I cover the front and rear end of the new Corolla sedan with my thumb, it looks like the same shit as before, just a different pile

At least the new design translated better on the hatch.

3,400 affected vehicles isn't so bad.

My 2017 required a software upgrade to prevent this from happening. I took mine in for seasonal service and Toyota took care of it. No big deal.

So I drove the Corolla hatch for a week and I must say the transmission is actually quite good, any gear shift above 2 is blazing quick. Full Throttle acceleration in sport mode induces a jerk with every shift. Feels kinda like a single clutch gearbox.
