Taking my GTR to Tsukuba Circuit!!!

As some of you know I shipped my skyline to Japan in September for work done at Garage Saurus and R's meeting at Fuji Speedway.

Last week, I am back here in Tokyo and got to attend on of the track day hosted by Moty's Japan at Tsukuba Circuit!

I've done a vlog and would love to share my experience with you guys! Enjoy.
* Excuse the typo in the video, i was to excited on the editing and did proofread.

Here are some images for you guys!

Nice. Just wondering how much to ship the car to Japan? And was it a simple process to register the car and get insurance so you can drive on public roads in Japan?

Am I misunderstanding this? You shipped your vehicle to Japan to get work done? That’s commitment. Lol

man, what a boss.

most people would rent a car to drive around there at most.

But sending the car back to Japan to get it built and do some lapping... thats just boss.

Would totally buy you several round of drinks if I ever met you in person

I know it's about $1k to ship from Japan to here when you're importing a car.

So while most people around here take their Mozzarella GranTurismos up and down the streets of DT while stuck in first gear, you decide to ship your car back to its homeland and unleash the beast in its natural territory.

I'm way too jealous of this.

I get ask alot and will probably make a detail video down the road regarding it.

There is the tourist way for doing it and you apply for Carnet ehich is like a passport for cars. Then you wont have to pay tax on it. However it was a lengthy process so I wrote a bill of sale and “sold” the car to the shop. Any car even for traveling will require inspection and smog in Japan to be driven on the road. My car failed miserably therefore I am driving around with the shops repair plate. That saved me couple thousand dollar.

Here is a break down in CAD
- 20ft container including loading in Canada side $3600 (one way, coming back is abit more. Around $5500. I would only ship my own container and not do Ro on Roll off)
- unloading and custom clearence $850
- tax $1500
- towing from dock back to the shop (yokohama to sayama) $1000
- inspection/smog/insurance $500

If you want to plate it and drive in Japan, it will be another $2200 + labour on making thr car passes.

Also i would noted that you get a temporary export form from cbsa and keep your BC registration so when the car comes back, you dont have to pay tax and do another oop.

Baller! I love the story and the look inside at the video... but you gotta work on your camera presence / media personality if you want to make it a perm thing... you're a very "serious" car guy in every way lol

Thanks for taking us on a trip that most of us can't do cost/time wise.

I am camera shy. Hahaha. I am usually a pretty quiet person and being infront of a camera is wayyy out of my comfot zone. I do want a change and hopefully there will be improvements.
