2020 Porsche 911. 992 generation.

The debut of the new Porsche 911. The 992 was shown at the LA Auto Show.

What does everyone think of the taillights? :suspicious:

What a tiny PDK gear selector. :lawl:

This is a refresh or new model?

It doesn't even seem that long ago that the 991 came out. Now it's already 992..

I hate to say it, but....

I find Porsches kind of boring... They just aren't visually exciting.

eclipseman 11-27-2018 09:34 PM

I don't think it's really about the styling...it's the experience? I've never been a porsche guy either, but damn... It sounds amazing.

DavidNguyen 11-27-2018 09:35 PM

Doesnt look as nice as previous one.

I still prefer the 718 boxster.

Badhobz 11-27-2018 09:39 PM

I've driven the 997.2 gts and I didn't find the experience all that rewarding. I don't know know, i couldn't fall in love with it. Didn't like the flat 6 sounds either.

I just don't get the 911 mystique.

It's funny because vice versa, us 911 folk would never consider a MGT either. One of the girls in our group had one, hated it, and has only had 911s since.

booty like

toyota tells subaru to build the 86
mazda needed fca to make the miata
toyota needed bmw to revive the supra

Porsche: who cares if we just released the GT2, money aint a thang so let's do a new gen

ilovebacon 11-27-2018 11:55 PM

^ that was exactly what i was thinking of

hud 91gt 11-28-2018 05:58 AM

Completely biased, but I love it ;). Weird things happen when your obsessed. Also excited for old versions to go on sale.

bcuzracecarz 11-28-2018 06:59 AM

Hate the new interior (wtf is with the gear lever, and having no buttons for modes is annoying) but love the new design, can't believe how quick the new S is, why would you want anything else!? And now that the regular S comes in wide-body as well it's pants throbbingly worth it.

Hondaracer 11-28-2018 10:00 AM

that yellow one in the second video with those wheels is gorgeous

RRxtar 11-28-2018 04:13 PM

loving porsches styling but damnit i cant do those quad square headlight LEDs in such a sculpted rounded headlight. same reason i cant get behind the 918 either. you can do better porsche.

twitchyzero 11-29-2018 08:02 PM

finally saw a gt2 in-person
has quite the road presence for a vehicle that's had the same basic design for like 6 decades

westopher 11-29-2018 11:37 PM

Love it, but hate the little mini penis auto gear selector, and the rear end is not to appealing in photos.
Manuel solves the gear issue, and I'm betting a big wing solves the rear.

The 991 / 991.2 were already too big, and the same comment extends to the 992. In terms of size and look, I prefer the 997 a lot better.

dark0821 11-30-2018 09:38 PM

not like i am in the market anyways... but here to hope the 997.2C or 997.2CS take another dip in price... so finally i can convince the wife lol...

One or two of these prototypes had been driven around in Southern BC.

I got to start it up, and talked to a few Porsche Engineers from Germany.

This was a C4S.

The_AK 11-30-2018 10:32 PM

Looking from the outside in the only Porsche that hints at excitement and literally gets my heart going is the 993, followed by the 964 builds by Singer. That being said, I'm positive when you get to that level of being an owner you're already invested in (and sold on) the design/styling leaving very little that needs to be changed about the exterior going forward. All that aside, I really like the interior as it looks like it was greater influenced by earlier generations compared to the 991. Looks awesome.

Hondaracer 11-30-2018 10:49 PM

the front end has very subtle changes that make the overall appearance more "square" i find, it's a very slight change but its kind of like their gesture to the future design

Z3guy 12-03-2018 08:54 AM

styling is subjective, so like it or not, you can't argue the about the performance. O-60 in 3.4, quarter mile in mid 11s. Rumors of Nurburgring time in 7:15 or below. I can't even imagine what numbers the Turbo is going to put up....The only downside is it gained weight and size.....

Mr.Money 12-03-2018 08:58 AM

only reason i would care about Nurburgring is that its about handling performance..
i don't think you're regular Joe would care but its good to know you got next level engineering for bragging rights...more competition to other exotic automakers too, step your game up.

tofu1413 12-03-2018 09:21 AM

997 was the last of the "sports car" sized 911

991 / 992 are more of a GT car sized machine - the mass is no different from the R35 GTR and I think the wide body cars are even wider hipped than the R35.

Stunning machine and glad they still build a car with heritage.

Z3guy 12-03-2018 11:00 AM

I personally prefer the size of the 997 Vs 991. However, the handling dynamics and suspension refinement is light years ahead of the 997. Although the 991 feels big, it is like a 250lbs linebacker who is really light on his feet....
