I've voted NDP since becoming a CDN citizen because their philosophy aligns closer to mine and going as far as trying to reason with people in my social circle that NDP is a better choice.

However, I'm going all-in conservative this time around because NDP's got no chance. But the last thing I can allow is for Lib to continue to lead Canada. NDP has shown lil interest to work with the conservatives, so... the only way to really make sure we don't allow Libs to be in power is to make sure Conservatives gain the majority.

WTF have they done for Canada the last 6yrs in power? All superficial things that they pushed through because there was little to no resistance.

When it came to things that I really feel about Canadian value... they have done nothing. Huawei 5G never got officially banned. The big 3 went without Huawei on 5G because US sanctions made it too risky to use Huawei equipment, and not because our gov't did shit about it. The 2 Michaels issue is the last nail in the coffin. As Canadians, we stand by our fellow Canadians, in good and bad, because that's our core value as Canadian. We stand together. WTF did JT do? It seems that every time when it's something about China, JT can NEVER, and I repeat... EVER be hard on China... all because of what? Because they are our "important trade partners?" Oh... and I see JT has no problem arguing with US, our biggest trade partner by far... bigger than any of the rest combined and multiplied.

JT is done. He can take his BS promises elsewhere. My political philosophy is simple. If you can't do the job I want you to do, let someone else give it a try. To continue to believe that they would someday do it when they had failed time after time to deliver anything close to it is insanity...

It's going to be a minority government so the NDP will have a lot of power.

JT's campaign has been terrible so far ... it would be sweet poetic justice if this ends up being the nail in the coffin for him. JWR's name was dropped a couple of times in the debate. I hope it sticks on him like flies on sh*t.

Trudeau says he did not want Wilson-Raybould to lie as SNC-Lavalin affair re-emerges

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/fede...rges-1.5581468

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau denied wanting Jody Wilson-Raybould to lie as the SNC-Lavalin affair -- which figured prominently in the last election -- burst back onto the campaign trail Saturday with the publication of an excerpt of the former justice minister's memoir.

The excerpt from the tell-all book "Indian in the Cabinet" -- published in the Globe and Mail -- revolves around Wilson-Raybould's recollections of two critical meetings with Trudeau in February 2019, days after the newspaper reported Canada's first Indigenous justice minister had faced inappropriate pressure from top Liberals in a court case.

"I knew what he was really asking. What he was saying. In that moment, I knew he wanted me to lie -- to attest that what had occurred had not occurred. ... Lie to protect a Crown government acting badly; a political party; a leader who was not taking responsibility."

And changed up my previous lib vote to con this year

Hondaracer 09-11-2021 01:42 PM

Last night in yaletown saw a brand new aventador and GT3 parked next to each other with Chinese character stickers on the windows. Behind them were two native junkies sprawled out on the curb with needle wrappers around their legs

Felt it an apt ode to Trudeaus Canada.

Lo fucking L if you think cons are going to do something about the addictions issues plaguing Canada. I totally get criticism of Trudeau. He’s a moron, but these are not problems of liberal policy or government, or something that magically appeared starting in 2015. 20 to 40 year old drug addicts were 20-40 years in the making, or far longer if you want to look at it generationally. That’s the dumbest shit about this election. People act like Canada’s problems with inequality, addictions, environment, etc. are the product of some magic fuckin light switch Trudeau turned on when elected.

Manic! 09-11-2021 05:02 PM

Anyone thinking of voting con. We would be way worse off with covid if we had a con government. Tool can't even get all his condidates vaxxed. Because of 5 g or whatever. Local con candidate who is from Toronto does not even have her staff in her campaign office wear masks.

From Reddit.

Conservative party office in Nanaimo not following provincial mask mandate

Quote:

Stopped by the campaign office for the CPC and was surprised to see that none of the staff were masked. Not sure if this is a political move or not but it blows my mind that people who should be setting an example are breaking the mandate. I was on the fence about voting CPC but they just lost my vote. Shame as they were the "law and order" party before

To be fair the $$$ might come down from Feds but I feel that much more is on the municipal level when it comes to the poverty issue of addictions, homelessness, mental health. On a related note, DTES is as worst as I've seen it. It is like a third world country.

As with many issues regarding the current liberal govt. things really can’t get much worse with someone else.

Also the state of the opioid crisis, much like the affordability crisis has been exponential under the liberal govt. while I agree that it’s a generational issue in some ways, 6 years is not an insignificant amount of time to have seemingly done very little to nothing to address these issues.

Vancouver is on a crash-course to end up like many of the American west coast cities. Over run by walking zombies and a downtown where people are scared to go.

I think this has more to do with the municipal level as you said but laws and the criminal code which have obviously been softened under the libs can have some impact to the current situation.

980 had some business owners downtown on lately and they are basically at their wits end in terms of feeling helplessness. Store fronts and windows smashed 3/4/5 times in a single month and when they catch the people they are back out the same day after their 50th offence.

westopher 09-11-2021 05:47 PM

That sounds like it’s a civil policing matter. These people aren’t ending up in the federal pen for this shit lol, it’s not a “soft on crime” from the federal level driving this.

Hondaracer 09-11-2021 05:50 PM

Quote:

One, there are two levels of crime. Crime as defined by the Criminal Code and other statutes, like murder, assault, theft, fraud, property crimes like arson… are all federal-level crimes. Infractions of regulations, like speeding on the highway, not licensing your pet, or serving liquor without a license, are usually provincial or municipal regulatory offenses
https://certificate.queenslaw.ca/blo...n-criminal-law

The revolving door of multiple felony criminals seems to definitely be a federal level issue.

Many of the interviews with current snd retired VPD officers seem to point to their hands being tied regardless of how well they can do their jobs

Which is a terrible way to do it. Pretty sure I've said this before, but no city has an incentive to really try to do much beyond the bare minimum because some idiot will just pull a Ralph Klein on them. The feds need to step up if anything meaningful is even going to get done.

mikemhg 09-12-2021 10:40 AM

I absolutely love how the moderator can challenge answers of the politicians during the Canadian PM debate. It stops the leaders from simply lying through their teeth without getting challenged.

What a massive difference from the US debates in which the moderator isn't allowed to challenge a single answer = lying on stage with full impunity.

Oh... for fuck sake... not the con is bad for handling Covid bullshit.

US went from republican to democrat... and what changed? Other than vaccine rates, the hospitalization and cases remain relatively in line. US didn't just miraculously got rid of Covid because dems came to power.

People need to get their head over how Covid really is. Don't come with shit that I don't know anything. Many of my F&F, including my wife, kids and in-laws had been diagnosed with covid. Effects are better or worse depending on people, with kids showing absolutely ZERO symptoms (they only got tested because mom was tested positive).

I'm not saying covid is not serious. It is like any other disease out there if not more so. But we are at the stage where it's no longer about containing covid. It's out there and it's impossible to eradicate it because it keeps evolving. We already did everything we could. And it doesn't matter what else you do. Australia and NZ go into lockdown every time a case surfaces, but it's only a matter of time they get it again. And exactly how long can they lock themselves up?!

Now it's time to start planning how to live with it. We will eventually eradicate it. But until then, you'd need a world to continue to function.

What's good of going to the extreme to eradicate covid for a short period of time when you destroy the economy and it comes back as soon as you let people outside to come? You can't keep handing out money when there's no worker in the "essential" business to work.

Libs need to go... so that they can be humble again and actually try to do something because they want to try to get back in power. Until then, let someone else give it a try.

Many of your f&f got covid? LOL what the fuck are they doing? I know a total of 3 people who got covid all from the same family that's it. We have a gas station with close to a 1000 costumers a day and none of our employees got covid. The US is a shit show because of states rights. You got idiots threatening to kill people if schools have mask mandates.

My wife is in a field working with children with disabilities which requires her to go to schools, meet with families, and all the other professionals who work with those and many other kids.

Yes, she's probably among the very source of covid for my social bubble, but it's a risk that we were well aware. Even with all the precaution we could take (actual N95 masks, sanitizers everywhere, wife coming in from the basement entrance and take shower in the basement every time she gone out before coming in contact with us at home... etc), the virus found its way.

You are lucky that you are on the island where the spread is much easier suppressed comparing to the rest of Canada or even just lower mainland.

But not everywhere and every work has this kind of luxury.

I have members who live on the lower mainland working in education, elementary, high school, and university. Doesn't seem like you were social distinsing with friends and family if your wife spread it to all of them.

from the most important to the least IMO

1) raising capital gains tax by 15%, don't fuck that shit, are they TRYING to discourage people from fucking investing into the markets and growing their money? Are people expected to just work their shitty 9-5 and retire at or over the age of retirement? give me a break fuck that. There's places in the world where it's 0%. They should lower this shit from 50% to 25%... not raise it to 75% wtf.

2) enforcing equal outcomes, yeah fuck that again, equal opportunities, not equal outcomes. Outcomes are based on merit and skill, nothing else.

3) enforcing pronouns, yeah fuck that. He, she, they that's it. What next? they gonna tell me how to walk and talk beside certain people? lol

4) policing the internet more? yeahhhh no, I prefer the internet to be akin to the wild west, it's the last place on the planet you can be free.

5) gun control... yeah... trying to control the illegal firearms that get in, LOL not punishing hobbyists and enthusiasts...

6) Basic income... sounds great, but I'm not sure... Theoretically as a business owner or landlord I'd just raise prices to reflect the rise in "income". In my heart I hope somehow this can really work for the greater happiness of everyone.

yeah that's about it.

why isn't there a futurist party that mainly is about teaching/making people adopt technology faster and pushing tech and innovation research? AI, fusion, etc. Becoming high-tech should be a priority for all canadians. I'd vote for them LOL.

fuck all these clowns just don't touch my fucking money.

100%...

We want more affordability for Canadians...more money in their pockets!

All you're going to have is your 9-5 job! if you invest properly and make some money, we're going to take more from ya! Keep that 9-5! haha fucking morons are running it.

They are coming after our/your money. The middle class will get squashed because a large segment of the middle class is voting for it to happen. People are convinced that those that make 300k-400k are the elite/"1%", but that couldn't be further from the truth. People making 300k-400k are FAR closer to the homeless than they are to the true elite/"1%". We're all fucked since I only see this belief growing stronger in the future.

68style 09-13-2021 09:55 AM

Yah it ain’t the doctors or whatever making $400k everyone should be hating on, those guys probably pay way more than my salary just in taxes every year… it’s the guys who never work and never pay tax cuz they have a shit tonne of loopholes being a foreign resident or setting up shell companies and tax havens etc… big money makers do it all through latent income. Doctors and lawyers etc work their asses off grinding every day.

This virus is so much more than that. If you think that face covering and social distancing is enough to stop the spread, you are either too naïve or delusional.

As I said, it’s too late and too far to be wishing to eradicate the virus by just “doing something”. The virus is no more deadly than many of the airborne virus known to men. The problem is that it spreads a lot easier and faster.

I’m well aware of the seriousness of it. I asked my in laws to bring back to Asia a whole bunch of n95s back in December 2019 because what I learned from SARS.

But we are so far passed that stage that simple social distancing and personal protection is going to do anything major to the spread. Yes, it helps. But as a policy maker and leader of a country, I expect them to not just try to contain it, but figure out a way to a future where we will live with the virus for years to come. Instead of sticking with the stupid idea that we can stop it.

Sure, you lock the whole country down for a few months, you can bring the case to a minimum. And so fucking what? As soon as you open up, it comes back. Our “waves” coincide closely to our “reopening”. So much so, it’s not a coincidence, but correlated events.

Thus, what we need is a government that thinks forward. Implement policies or game rules that take the virus into consideration for a new “normal”. Instead of a clown hoping that we could go back to the old normal.
