Go out and vote if you haven't.

Go and thank our egotistical entitled PM for having to do this! .

Dude, it's politics.

Don't pretend like the cons wouldn't have done this if the situation was flipped.

Besides, you could have voted using mail in ballots if you wanted to. I certainly did.

Hondaracer 09-20-2021 07:02 AM

Love how it’s always hypotheticals to try and make excuses for the libs..

House prices went up 400% in the 6 years of liberal power, BuT iT WouLd HaVe bEen 600% unDer the CoNs!!

Either way just glad this garbage will be over soon

CRS 09-20-2021 07:10 AM

Love how it's always hypotheticals to try to make excuses as if the cons would have done anything differently.

Except, you know, strip away social benefits and close down government programs.

Hondaracer 09-20-2021 07:17 AM

6 years of scandal and BS and you guys hang your hat on a coast guard station lol

It’s a low, low bar

68style 09-20-2021 07:30 AM

Cons aren’t even in power and they’ve been full of scandals too. Welcome to government, bunch of power hungry narcissists in a room making decisions for us.

CRS 09-20-2021 07:38 AM

You assume I'm a liberal supporter but for the last few elections and this one, I've voted NDP.

So where am I hanging my hat now?

You've been critical of BC's response to COVID. How do you think we would fared under the cons?

Opened for summer and closed for fall. Winners? None. Losers? All.

Inb4 PrOvInCiAl gOv Is DiFfErEnT tHaN fEdErAl - if you think the fed cons are cut from a different cloth than the provincial cons, you're fooling yourself.

Bouncing Bettys 09-20-2021 08:03 AM

If you get covid and have to isolate after early voting ended and it's too late to vote by mail, you do not have the right to vote today. Was listening to an example on cbc who is in this very scenario (fully vaxxed too). I mean that seems pretty obvious, and I can't help but wonder if JT called this election knowing he could exclude a certain group who likely wouldn't be voting for him.

For all intensive purpose Provincial cons don’t exist in BC. The provincial liberals are essentially the federal cons so yea..probably would have been different as the party you’re bringing up doesn’t even exist. Better or worse I can’t say.

Look no further than our neighbours in Alberta to see how a con gov would have done.

Maybe that certain group should have gotten vaccinated then, so they could have successfully voted him out LUL

"For all intents and purposes"

Traum 09-20-2021 08:46 AM

Any bets on whether the Toole or Turdeau will come out as the winner from today?

I know Canadians from coast to coast are the losers from all this regardless of how it turns out. :(

Every so often you get a political leader come along that craters SO badly, that he/she basically kills their party for the next decade.

Glen Clark
Christy Clark

And... (drum roll)

Stephen Harper

So while I may not agree with everything the federal Liberals do, Cons are still digging out of the hole from Harper and that's just the reality. Same with the provincial Liberals at the moment.

Give it another 2 - 4 years and the pendulum is likely to swing back.

Hondaracer 09-20-2021 10:10 AM

Over under on PPC Seats? 0.5 is the line

Kinda leaning over given what I’m reading in some different spots

Traum 09-20-2021 10:13 AM

Are you sure it is Harper that craters the Cons so badly? Personally, I'd only rate Harper as pretty damaging (for the Cons) in his final term, but it was Scheer that was the cringe-inducing one.

Manic! 09-20-2021 10:19 AM

Decided to complain about Amy today. Called the local con campaign office and asked for Amy. Surprise, now one with the name Amy in the office. After telling the person on the phone what was happening she took my number and would see what she could do.

Fair. But anecdotally, when I think back to all the polarizing policies from their term like the coast guard stations, supression of scientific data, I think Harper was the poster child and Scheer flew under the radar a bit.

I drove through Sechelt yesterday and there are still stop signs that say STOP HARPER on them :lol

My friend texted Amy back and said leave him alone and he got a reply that said "No problem, we'll remove you from our list. -Jessica"

I cringe at how much brainpower and marketing strategy went into choosing the name "Amy".

Bouncing Bettys 09-20-2021 11:02 AM

What are line ups generally looking like?

westopher 09-20-2021 11:21 AM

In and out in under 5 minutes here in North van.

MarkyMark 09-20-2021 11:32 AM

Only one person in my line in Langley, in and out in a few minutes.

HonestTea 09-20-2021 11:35 AM

Voted!

TOS'd 09-20-2021 11:53 AM

42 mins to the front of the line. 2 mins in-and-out for voting.

A lady in line behind me was making a big scene about how polititians should provide free parking at voting stations or comp the parking if they want her vote. She ended up leaving and said no one worked enough to deserve her vote.

There was also a bunch of people that try to talk to the volunteers there saying they have to be at work and can't afford to line up. So they try to see if they can skip. Really not sure what they expect, this isnt the airport security lineup where your flight is about to leave without you.

My location also had a seniors line up kind of. The volunteers would scope out the line up and pull seniors out to the front of the line so they didn't have to stand the whole time.
