While I think what he did was stupid, there’s plenty of people who suggested he go visit the residential school in Kamloops that would have said
“Look at fuckin turd you think he actually cares about those people? You think they want turd there? Blah blah fucking blah” so there is that.

Hondaracer 10-01-2021 01:26 PM

Liberal Supporters: Every stance we take is based on hypotheticals.. lol

I’ve also noticed that since I was called out for saying Turd and stopped saying that all together the only people still saying Turd or who have picked up saying it are the liberal supporters.. dats rich

westopher 10-01-2021 01:48 PM

You must have missed the part where I criticized Trudeau as well. I don’t like partisan idiots on the side I support or the opposite.
I wouldn’t call myself a liberal supporter either. They were just the second worst option out of 2 that could be running the country right now.

So let me ask you guys, did anyone do anything related to the spirit of the day yesterday? No slapping on an Orange shirt you already have doesn't count. I sure as hell did jack all and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Also I guarantee you his PR people and him didn’t realize people can track that private jet he’s on and as soon as you see the specific call sign you know he’s aboard. So likely he was thinking he could sneak away without being noticed given the timing.

The guy is completely out of touch period. There is no defending him

No matter what he does some people just like to complain. Your team lost, get over it and start preparing for the next election if you are so upset.

I didn't have the day off at work. However I am always wanting to learn more so I watched the documentaries and read stories of Residential School survivors.

Tbh the second I saw the gas town tourist stores selling the orange shirts for profit that was the end of it for me.

westopher 10-01-2021 02:29 PM

I gave some money to the irsss a couple weeks ago. I didn’t wear an orange shirt though so I’m sure someone that did thinks I’m the asshole haha.

I actually looked this up because I was curious about how it was being contrasted to Trudeau... according to his twitter he was outside the legislature at the unknown soldier memorial/flame talking to indigenous people in the area. Or... at least he was for the photo op anyway.

I didn't either, put me in the asshole camp... I got guilted to shit driving around all day in a car that only had a radio in it though listening to every lower mainland DJ including a certain British one tell me how evil Canada is.

All I wanted to do was hear static laced versions of the latest top 40 music... but noooooooooo... :okay:

CivicBlues 10-01-2021 03:12 PM

On Canada Day I was in Victoria and I spent an hour or so listening to the speeches/stories at the front of the BC Legislature Building and stayed till the end when they all marched across the city. I didn't march with them but NGL it brought a tear to my eye hearing some of their stories and then when the crowd sang their song when they left.

---actually n/m keeping these thoughts to myself on this holiday in case I get Simu Liu'd one day---

68style 10-01-2021 03:19 PM

I think there's a disconnect with this day... like... people aren't sure if it's about the residential school children... or general indigenous relations? Restitution/restoration?

Same as you I watched several short films provided through work and stuff on a few other days... visited the memorial in Victoria... but at some point how many rivers do you cry into I don't know. I didn't make any of it happen and I'll do my best not to ever be a party to anything like that happening but I'm not sure what anyone wants everyone else to do beyond that.

To me it seems like it's intended to balance out the colonial and christian holidays like Victoria day and good friday. It seems to me like a very modern, progressive, and fair thing to do. I don't see a huge issue with it, whether you want to go to ceremonies, read a book, go surfing, or whatever.

68style 10-01-2021 03:34 PM

I don't have an issue with it, I'd just like to see some definitive action(s) from the government besides people standing around with candles so it doesn't slip into the realm of meaninglessness for most people like... say... Thanksgiving or Easter.

My kid's daycare was closed for the day so I spent the day at home with him doing house chores.

My wife had to work, but her company bought all the employees orange shirts to wear. She was pretty pissed off at that. Nothing like peer pressuring your employees to feign giving a shit about the day.

The biggest chiefs in Canada blasting Trudeau over the choice.

But hey, you guys say it’s not a big deal so should be aight

Great68 10-01-2021 04:08 PM

I think it was a pretty dumb move, but not significant enough to really care all that much.

You're right, it's the biggest issue in Canada today.. We should have an election to get rid of him ASAP!

Not entirely sure how you get that from what I said.

The people this day was for are saying this was a big issue. Therefore, in Canadian politics it’s a big issue. Period

No I'm agreeing with you!

I'm very surprised Trudeau was even invited there given his record with Canadian FN, but the fact that he was is important. 30 Sept as a federal holiday was voted in favour of unanimously by all parties. Recent election cycle or not no federal party leader, let alone the PM, would skip Remembrance Day. Trudeau just did that on the very first day of formal federal recognition for Indigenous Canadians. Kamloops, at one site of the genocide the country is pausing to remember, is exactly where the PM (from any party) should have been if invited.
