I'd say I voted conservative in my riding as my long-standing MP is disgusting Jenny Kwan.
I wouldn't be embarrassed to say i wanted O'Toole as PM over JT. I've -never- heard anyone say they voted in a certain way to keep JT in power. And i'd say i have a fairly varied sample size.
Not that people openly talk politics really

People are pretty open talking politics these days. The annoying thing is people treat it like a sport and pick a fucking team to cheer for no matter who's playing. I could have handled O'toole as PM, but hate far too many conservative MPs to be happy with what was being pushed by some even though it wasn't the platform O'toole was running on, because the fact is, the party leader isn't able to control the entirety of their party. Green has many MPs that I like, but their leader was an absolute moron. JT is a bit of a wank, but he's fine. The majority of the Liberal party aligns with what makes sense for canada, which has always been (at least in our lifetime) what Canada is based on. Immigration, some social programs, a reasonable amount of freedom if you don't want to be a fucking idiot, and capitalism. Cons and PPC run on a platform of freedom, but many MPs disagree with freedom for anyone that doesn't align with antiquated bullshit "christian" values, which the majority of us think is bullshit.
I'd be happy if the libs had a different leader next election.
NDP has the idea of social programs that I believe in, but it shouldn't be coming at the expense of people below the UPPER middle class income level if they actually want to create more equality across the board. It just moves the class divide higher up.
Basically our options range from complete garbage (PPC)
Bad (greens)
Meh (cons, NDP)
Slightly less meh (libs)
For the vast majority of Canadians.
I'd be fine with conservative fiscal policy if they'd eject the fucking trash from their party and made the promise to focus on adequate single payer healthcare/education systems.
Jagmeet is the only one I found to be charismatic and mostly genuine, but the NDP (as shown by their dental care policy) aren't aware enough of what actually constitutes financial struggle in this country.

Last election O'Tool came to Nanaimo. it was super hush hush no announcement. Private closed door event with party supporters. They claimed it was a last minute event but in reality they where afraid of protesters. At least JT is not afraid of being in the public.
If you mean voting Liberal, I mean they're basically the natural governing party of Canada for the past 150 years. Why would anyone try and hide the fact they vote Liberal? Are you seriously going around saying you voted for Andrew Scheer's Conservatives? Jagmeet Singh's NDP? Bernier's PPC? You'd probably be laughed at behind your back in mixed company.
lol O'toole, totally forgot that guy existed. He was Party Leader for like what? A couple months? /s
“With Alberta no longer collecting fuel taxes at the pump, Albertans deserve to know why they are suddenly paying as much for gasoline as motorists in Toronto when as recently as two weeks ago they were paying far less.”

Where are all the people that were arguing in favor of us dropping the tax like AB, completely ignoring that the gas companies would 100% pull this move?

Yes. People just don't understand how business works.

I have no prior knowledge of Danielle Smith... but is it possible that before this video cut she could have been talking about how there needs to be more proactive detection of cancers done before it gets so severe? ie: Catching it earlier
If not, what a shitbag... but I'd like to see the entier excerpt.

I clicked on the "Alberta Sovereignty Act" as well as the "Freedom, Lockdown, Medical Choice" video links. And O-M-F-G... What kind of a redneck would spew BS like that???
Esp with the "Freedom, Lockdown, Medical Choice" BS, if/when the next major pandemic hits and you don't lock down before a scientifically sound medication (vaccine?) is produced, people in your province are just going to die off in droves.
Oh wait... that already happened in (rural) Alberta during COVID, didn't it?
The older I get, the worse politics look. I'm almost at the point where I feel like it's a complete sham and the real people pulling the strings are just watching and laughing at us sheep lining up and voting between 2 to 3 piles of shit because it's "our duty."

It's definitely gotten worse over the last decade or so.
I feel like it really accelerated during the Obama years in his presidency, with COVID/Trump pouring gasoline on the problem.
The internet has created this cesspool of misinformation, mistrust, and polarization.
We were insolated from it in the past, now are politics are becoming more and more Americanized.
It blows my mind that we aren't discussing this problem more broadly -- it doesn't bode well for future politics.

Agreed.
I always voted when I was younger because “that’s what you’re supposed to do”. But the older I get I realize that it has no impact on my life with the current population size. We are a grain of sand. You can give me any party and I will either have to adapt or leave as those are the only options within my control.
1. I’m not aware of any federal election being decided by one vote.
2. If an election were decided by one vote I’m not aware of any politician or party that has made any significant impact in my or other peoples lives. Do people think a new party will get in and magically every problem is solved? Even if they do just wait a few years before they are voted out and all progress is undone.
Everyone I know has seen more results from reading books, being disciplined and consistent in their daily lives. A changing government every few years really accomplishes zero in the big picture. Just children banging their hands on tables.

This sounds like a pretty privileged take on things. How exactly would reading books help people in the US with Roe v Wade being overturned?
For me the difference is that when I was young I was voting for who I thought would improve things. Now I'm voting to prevent things from getting fucked up like down south.
