No one remembers the last debates during the election?

The guy can barely put together a sentence when he’s not rehearsing a pre-scripted speech

Lol, have you ever watched a house session before? This is pretty normal. The dude walked himself into it by saying "when" instead of "if"

The brits are even worse in their house.

I know it’s normal but I’ve said it before. It’s like watching an episode of “yo mama” on mtv with Wilmer valderrama. Just a bunch of dipshits talking over each other while their crew backs them up for any stupid quip they happen to make.

So the whole purpose is to jeer each other ... outdo the other in theatrics and showmanship.

I think there is a dedicated channel that you can watch the House of Commons or Legislative Assembly ... better than melatonin.

Not like anyone really cares about anything anymore but..

The initial program to buy the F35’s under Harpers govt. was 16 billion to get 65 planes:

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...rticle4184697/

After Justin and the liberals canceled the program for nothing else than another govt. was behind it, we are now getting 16 planes for 7 billion, after spending hundreds of millions of dollars to keep the CF18’s flying. And whatever other costs associated with the delays, the “process” of taking bids from other manufacturers etc.

https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/pol...02528.amp.html

When you blow 30+ billion in Covid relief funds though I guess everything else feels like a drop in the bucket

Split per plane and adjusted for inflation that's $320M/plane in the old program and $437M/plane under the new one.

I’m not talking about the funding which went to the people who actually needed it

I’m talking about the 30+ which was provided to companies and individuals who didn’t

It was made pretty clear in the beginning that the money will be shotgunned, and then clawed back for those that abused it. Although yes, they fucked up the whole gross/net thing and the tax implications. That said, it resulted in avoiding a collapse of the economy, which allowed you to ride out the wave on top and afford a getaway.

I mean it's great you didn't need CERB, but if you did, and they had a system setup to submit previous T4's and whatnot, you would have been foaming at the mouth about government bureaucracies and red tape when people are starving due to lost income.

Exactly this. Even if somebody didn't need CERB many in the middle class and up gained significant savings and wealth through the pandemic because the economic didn't crash, which is also what is driving this huge inflation.

On an unrelated note, my dad broke his wrist on a trip recently and had to get it evaluated and operated on since he got back. The process so far has fortunately been quick and responsive.

The initial visit with the family doctor took a bit longer, about a week, but the subsequent x-rays, diagnosis, and scheduled for surgery was literally just two days after that initial doctor visit.

Very pleasantly surprised to see the health system working well.

Im conservative and definitely dislike trudeau. But there are alot of operating costs; base upgrades etc that are frontloaded into the price of the first 16 aircraft.

Im just glad that dumbass is at least getting 88 new jets, it sucks the political game of cancelling and then redoing the same shit cost us money. At least the ball is rolling on upgrading out fleet and giving our airforce the proper equipment to work with. Not those old ass jalopy f18s.

There is a lot more that needs to be done besides 88 f35s to modernize our airforce. Unfortunately we are now feeling the pain of modernizing our military after years of neglect.

Army, navy, air... No matter conservative or liberal...the leading party will be under fire for spending or not doing it soon enough. I will swallow my dislike for the liberals and the original waste of money for at least getting some stuff done finally.

So this is the second police officer in 3 months that was killed in the line of duty by some repeat offender out on bail (RCMP/OPP) ... Houston, do we have a problem? Could Hondaracer be right?

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canad...stem-1.6700210

Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Thomas Carrique said he was "outraged" that Randall McKenzie, the suspect alleged to have shot Const. Grzegorz Pierzchala on Dec. 27, was out on early bail and had a lifetime ban from owning a firearm.

I don't think any of us disagree that there's a problem with the bail system in Canada.

What we disagree on is whether or not Trudeau or the Liberal government has control over it.

is the intent to work there, or is there an agreement to recognize the masters here?

i had a coworker from spain that is a certified architect in spain, didn't get certified here as it was difficult/time consuming/not cheap to do so.

it was easier to just work here as a PM than architect.

Hahahahahahahahaha…

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/amp/...ng-indigenous/

Quote:
British Columbia’s top court has broadened the sweep of a sentencing law meant to reduce incarceration rates among Indigenous peoples, ruling that Indigenous-specific sentencing can be applied even to offenders who have become disconnected from Indigenous communities and are only minimally aware of their heritage.
Reducing sentences for people like this:

Quote:
The offender, David Kehoe, is a Métis man who prosecutors argued had not been aware until recently of his Indigenous background. He was convicted of aggravated assault after he used a kitchen knife to stab a man who had played loud music in the parking lot of an apartment building where Mr. Kehoe lived.

Mr. Kehoe, who was 30 at the time of the 2018 stabbing, had a record of 33 prior offences as a youth and as an adult. (The victim suffered a lacerated liver and punctured lung, and received life-saving surgery
Reducing sentence for career criminals will surely put these people back on track!

Lol this is a good one too, after sack of shit Gaylon Weston said prices would be locked in on groceries

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/0...prices-canada/

The “expert” recommends that superstore “may not be for you” and to use services that sell food that is about to expire as an alternative. Yay Canada.

After spending $400 at Costco last week on a cart that feels like it used to cost $200 I don’t know how people are getting by.. these grocery prices are fucking insane
