He's super likeable if you just watch him talk and don't think about anything he's saying or how he arrived at his conclusions or have the knowledge that he's the leader of an entire political party.

He's like a guy you talk to on your flight because you don't feel like sleeping and get the feeling he's full of shit but still entertaining in some way... and after a bit you're glad it's only a 2 hour flight.

When I see PP I just see a weasel. Pretty sure the only reason he’s slightly popular is due to the hate of Turd.

He's just got one of those smarmy punchable faces. Like the know-it-all from high-school but isn't really that smart.

All billionaires are pieces of shit. You don't get to be one without taking advantage of society.

I've met him and he seems to be a pretty good guy. Humble beginnings. All successful people are assholes, no argument there, but of all the assholes, he's actually palatable.

I wouldn't go as far as to defend him on RS, gulolololololol................. RS, full of poor assholes. amirite?

Gosh you just reminded me of this guy in my ugrad math class. He can't keep his mouth shut during the tutorials, and totally acts like he knew it all when in fact he was at best a C student in the course. FWIW, he ran for a position in the student union as well, and was canvassing to the rest of the students in the tutorial at one point. FailFish

It almost seems like these good-for-nothing types are the ones that always make a run for the political spotlights...

That's literally PP down to a tee. Dude was canvassing for the Reform Party/Conservatives even in high-school.

He is the quintessential career politician. I'm always fascinated by these uber rightwing-libertarian folks that run for office while crying about how much government is "bad" and how it should be drown in a bathtub, meanwhile staying in said government for their entire careers enriching themselves.

It's convenient how government is so "bad" for us the general public, but seems to be working great for you as the career politician :lol

How ironic.

I honestly don't think people like PP much, as someone else said, the hate for Trudeau is far greater. This is why I have a feeling PP is going to fuck himself out of the leadership spot before any election happens. If the Cons promoted a more likeable/amiable politician, the next election is theirs.

US federal officials providing bus tickets out of NYC straight to Roxxam road border crossing where private enterprise is shuttling 100% illegal migrants across the border, excellent

This isn't really new, Roxham has been known for years now. NYC giving out bus tickets might be new, and is shitty, but this is the Canadian Politics thread.

Here are some statistics:
https://irb.gc.ca/en/statistics/Page...tatistics.aspx

And I'm not entirely sure what you believe, but if our gub'ment has deemed some of these people as actual refugees seeking asylum, then that's kind of OK with me. If you want to grab your pitchfork because the illegal immigrants are taking all your jobs, then lmk and I'll buy you a nice red hat.

Also, this is subjective, but any parent should at least feel some empathy for those looking to make their kids lives better, although it could be argued they should do it the proper way, though maybe that's not possible for whatever reason.

Hondaracer 02-06-2023 12:50 PM

What’s being mentioned there is not how anything works.

Ripping up your refugee/asylum claim which you’ve already processed because you don’t like NYC so you cross the border into Canada and pretend to claim the first country status etc. etc.

Like.. at some point we kinda have to honour the procedures we have in place no?..

Yes.

But as is with a lot of things in life, and especially when dealing with literal lives, it's not always so cut and dry.

I'm fully aware of what Europe has become due to open arms policies for illegal immigrants, and I don't agree with it nor do I want to see Canada do the same thing.

But for you and I to sit here comfortably and pretend to know what some of these people have gone through is a bit unreasonable. Also, fuck DeSantis for what he did.

Great news. We can use more hard working people.

Somebody set up a parliamentary petition to investigate Loblaws pricing:

https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/P...etition=e-4244

I typically would not have much faith in a petition from Change.org or something but this one seems more legit.

murd0c 02-10-2023 09:30 AM

I don't give a fuck about petitions from Change.org but when its an actual parliamentary petition something could actually come out of it. I signed and hopefully more people do as well since tomorrow is the deadline.

sonick 02-10-2023 09:35 AM

Shit good call out on the deadline

Good luck with those 16,000 signatures. 231,000 people signed e-2574, the most in Canadian history, against the firearms OIC and attempted confiscation back in 2020. Look how that went. This Gov demonstrably doesn't give a shit about the average Canadian or their concerns.

Companies like Telus, Loblaws, Rogers etc.

They have more clout and influence in govt. than a Jagmeet does.

It’s more likely that Gaylon gonna be blowing Justin on some new private island than anything happen with grocery pricing

Mayor of Toronto steps down because he had an affair with a staffer.

I thought the conservatives where the party of family values?

Spoiler!

Woohoo ... our jets got some action, they were sent out ... but US F22 got it.

Traum 02-11-2023 09:10 PM

I hope NORAD has a better plan than to keep sending out F22 to fire Sidewinder missiles at these things. According to Google / popular Mechanics, the hourly cost to fly an F22 is ~$85k USD per hour, and each Sidewinder costs just under $400k USD. Judging by the images and descriptions I have seen in the last few days, there is no way a balloon can cost anywhere close to $500k USD.

If I were China, I'd keep sending these pests over to N.America. It'd be such a cost effective way to both waste the US' defence budget and to be a PITA LOL~

The Sask. weather balloon survived more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition back in 1998

MarkyMark 02-12-2023 08:16 AM

That's not the staffer.

Staffer was previously miss sault ste marie 2012... Complete opposite side of the spectrum.
