Can't keep using phantom imports as an excuse bruh. You guys are saying drugs are so easy to bring in, I'm sure there's many avenues for guns as well. Dry up the supply and it's that much harder to get your hands on the original product. Drug enforcement doesn't work because it never goes after the supply.
What you think of Eby's budget? Voting NDP now? It's addressing health care to the tune of $2.3B and mental health which are things you've advocated heavily for in the past.
Seems pretty solid, even if it's going to cost more in gas$ etc.
Provincial politics don’t reflect federal parties.
I actually don’t mind what the NDP have done here, I liked Horgan a lot more than Eby but I’m not so blind nor ignorant as to just simply ignore the good a party can do regardless of where I lean

Oh I know the fed NDP is a shitshow and nothing to do with the province... tho it's worth noting that sometimes you don't make that distinction in your own arguments where the fed Lib party's responsibilities are concerned haha... just curious what you think about the announcement.
Gosh I fxxking hate the GVRD Board of Trade and that good-for-nothing UBC Prof Paul Kershaw (Generation Squeeze founder).
With the GVRD Board of Trade, are they fxxking blind to the fact that housing affordability and the drug / addiction crisis are "kind of" more pressing issues than attracting business investments at this point in time?
And that POS UBC prof SOB... his own thing (aka supposed speciality -- which I'd say he has absolutely zero expertise on after hearing him speak on it) is supposed to be the housing affordability problem for the "squeezed out" generation. And now that the Eby - NDP gov is taking on some extra debt during an economically sensitive time to specifically ease the problem that he is advocating for, instead of commending the gov for doing what he supposedly champions, he goes on to criticize them for spending the money "unwisely"??? WTF does he want then???
Hmm let's see... Great Britain, Japan, Australia, New Zealand... combined population = 230 million people... total gun related deaths last year = 552 deaths
Canada population = 39 million people... 875 deaths
I think we're doing pretty good considering all those countries are islands and don't have a gun crazy neighbor. Trying to get guns into Australia for example is difficult if you're not trying to smuggle it through a port. It would be stupid expensive, difficult and dangerous to boat guns from Indonesia, unload it on an unpopulated coast and drive them to a major city.

Over 100,000 people a year crossing from Canada back into the USA, what is that number going the other way, 10x? places where you can cross water and be in the USA in “under 2 minutes”
As mentioned above and what was my point to 68, the places these bans worked are islands where it takes HOURS of flying to get to..
As with much of what the liberals do, their soft on crime tough on legal gun ownership is all for show with little to no effectiveness. We’re going to be in this same boat years from now. Crazy what happens when there’s no repercussions for your actions. Strange really.

Vancouver proper just quietly snuck through an increase of municipal taxes 10.7%. Mayor Ken Sims described it in the same way as Luongo on his own contract !!
Vancouver mayor says he knows a 10.7% increase in property taxes ‘sucks’
Did he really campaign on lower taxes or no new tax hikes? I don't think so. He campaigned on hiring 100 new police and 100 new "mental health" nurses. As you may know, these things cost money.

He did campaign on exactly what you mentioned and then the first day he said oh never mind I can't do that. Now vancouver is upping property taxes to maintain the status quo. I'm not anti tax or anything, you know that, but we are seeing the centre left and centre right are all going to have the same problem. There's not enough money coming in to do anything, anywhere in their country.
Probably due to the way taxes are collected, avoided by those rich enough, and poor organization by governments. Remember how it was going to cost 400000 to remove the Stanley park bike lane? It's just fucking pylons lol.
It's the same thing going on in Surrey. They just voted in the female Doug McCallum. Civic politicians are the worst of the bunch.

200k for 80 people to talk about at city Hall for a few years, approve, replan, reapprove, change order, re approve
50k in legal consultants
50k for planning / traffic control / business disruptions / etc
100k for the actual work (1 guy removing at a nice slow pace, 9 guys standing around with a coffee, shovel, or on the phone with their hard hat off)

"Remember that stuff I campaigned on? Please disregard." Ken Sim
what got me though is he said he has 5 goals he wants to achieve, and then he'll vamoose...which means to me he'll do what he wants, and may not care about consequences/fallout if he's not planning on sticking around after his goals are achieved...
I wasn't joking about what I said earlier... City of Vancouver is "taking over" Canada House at SXSW in Austin this year and Ken Sim is the face of the entire thing... that is a HUGE expenditure... ostensibly they're trying to market Vancouver as a tech hub but really? That's what we need to be doing right now? Sending the mayor and an entire crew to Austin to hang out with cool industry people and hand out some business cards telling them they should move to Van?
I've said it here before, but a friend who is pretty high up at city hall is right -- COV doesn't collect enough in taxes for its expenses. The city also is in the red for its future liabilities as well (pensions, etc.), and has been for some time now. This has been a problem for years now.
It's a real problem that no mayor is willing to admit. Expect to see tax increases for the foreseeable future in Vancouver.

Crazy how I never heard ya bring up Turd booking $6000 a night hotel rooms for the queens funeral.. at least his trip has a hint of legitimacy. Not dragging an entourage to an out of touch, monarch’s funeral. A monarch directly responsible for much of the never ending aboriginal affairs we have to hear about
As I’ve said before, things actually get done, I don’t really care about tax increases. And Sim has done more in the short time he’s been in office that are actually tangible things I care about as opposed to Stewart’s almost full term as mayor.

I disagree a bit there, Canada is still part of the Commonwealth so it wasn't out of place for our PM to attend the Queen's funeral.
In terms of hotel pricing, did you not see how much hotels were costing during probably one of the largest gatherings from a tourism perspective in England in recent memory? That cost is pretty part and parcel for such an event.
That doesn't thrill me either, that said, fed spending is a drop in the bucket close to home.
But hey, I don't even live in Vancouver, so what do I care? Just pointing it out cuz maybe some people here do. I don't think it will add value to Vancouver in any way that trickles down into your pocket.
I do think that there would have been SIGNIFICANT blowback on relations with the UK if the PM didn't attend the Queen's funeral though. Right or not, it would have been viewed as a pretty big slight.
