Any job that can be done in another country for 1/10 the wage has already moved there lol. Nobody is bringing in TFWs for jobs they could be doing in their home country for a fraction of the cost.

You are not getting the complete picture.
Without cheap labors, everything would become more expensive, and at a time where we are trying to fight inflation, cheap labor immigrants are a necessary evil. Worse, the economy might stagnate without it.
Think it this way, a Mexican labor in construction can be had for about 20 bucks an hour. Sure they won't know much, but it's $20 for an hour of labor.
That same dude who knows little about construction, if you are hiring a Canadian dude, it's easily 30+, and I'm going as far as saying it's gonna be hard to find one at 30, I'd put it closer to 40 today.
Now, that's an increase of 50-100% in labor cost, which is about roughly 30% of total cost in construction. If I'm building a house, and the building cost is 350/sqft using migrant workers. By using 0 migrant worker, my building cost is now $450/sqft.
Now, if the market-going price is $1000, take 350+another 500 for land, I'm making a modest 15% profit... not great, but it's ok. But if that cost now goes to 450, it means that as a developer, I only make 5% and I need to deal with everything from financing, permit, project management... etc etc... why do I bother when just leaving money in bank would get me 5%+?
Too many people take things for granted. "Oh, if it wasn't for the workers, business wouldn't exist". True... but think it another way, if it wasn't the businesses, where do jobs come from? There's a reason why we give out billions of dollars as incentives to corporations for them to setup their business here.
It's not always "the business can afford it." The problem is when business can't afford it, wtf do we do about all the people who are looking for job?
Bringing migrant workers is a way to balance things out and not just "keeping giant corporation profitable." You are giving migrant workers too little credit.
What developer is using their own cash to finance a project?

When they're currently bringing in record profits they certainly can. We've got a long ways to go before anyone would have to worry about most of them not being able to afford something.

Wages offered to TFWs should be similar to wages paid to Canadian and permanent resident employees hired for the same job and work location, and with similar skills and years of experience.
For the purpose of the TFWP, you must pay the prevailing wage that is defined as the highest of either:
the median wage on Job Bank
the wage that is within the wage range that you're paying your current employees hired for the same job and work location, and with the same skills and years of experience
To determine the median wage on Job Bank:
go to Compare wages on Job Bank (wage updates took place during the week of November 14, 2022)
in the “Job search” field, enter the job title or the NOC code (2021 version) that best describes the duties and requirements of the position
the hourly median wage will be listed in the middle column, by community or area. If the median wage is listed as "n/a", consult the provincial/territorial wage. If it isn't available, consult the national wage
If the position requires additional skills and years of experience over the applicable NOC description, the wages offered should reflect these additional requirements.
For the purpose of determining the wage rate being offered, we'll only consider guaranteed wages, which exclude:
overtime hours
tips
benefits
profit sharing
bonuses
commissions
other forms of compensation

That will be the same wages that they offer Canadians, however, because they are so low the jobs will be empty and require them to offer more. This prevents that.

So wait I'm confused, FTWs aren't paid based on provincial minimum wage standards? They're paid lower than what a citizen would be paid for the same job?

No they are paid what these companies want to offer Canadian citizens, but no one would work for them for those wages because we have other, better jobs available. No Canadian is going to live in Vancouver and work at Tim hortons for minimum wage because they'd rather just fuck off to Alberta and get paid $40/hr to sweep up under an electrician in Hinton, or work as a barista at minimum wage and take home an extra $3-400 a cheque in tips.
There are too many decent options for people to accept such a shit job, as it should be, since these garbage corporations are selling people garbage products and making obscene amounts of profits for doing so.

The reason I ask that is because why has this changed so abruptly? Covid/Inflation?
Kids still go to high school and need a first job, why don't I see them working at places like McDonald's over the last few years? Why is the entire staff straight outta India?
Have hiring practices changed and these establishments are simply adopting a full FTW style of hiring, only? If so, that's a definitive change.

I'll hire a kid in high school for $17.50 + $20-30 in tips every shift plus a free meal (thats probably worth $30 a day,) and I'll know their name, shoot the shit with them about their goals, go skateboarding with them and push them to get a better job when it's time. Opportunity is everywhere in the entry level world, which is apparently a bad thing according to that cumtowel tiff Macklem.

Not enough kids.
Kids can't work during the day and late at night.
Kids don't need to work because there parents have money.
Fast food places in town hire kids but they are not reliable.

Second this.
If anyone has hired any kids that are decent, consider yourself lucky.
We've had a few kids (as in late-teen, early 20s) to work on some of our projects... you cannot imagine the work ethic they have (hit: they've got little to none)

AGREED.
So there some summer interns running around HQ and i swear these kids are god damn horrible. Comes in at 9:45, leaves at 3pm because of "lifestyle"
Spends 99% of the time on their phones watching tiktok/youtube/etc
Co-workers tried to show them the ropes and they weren't interested at all since they kept complaining they weren't getting paid. WOW.
However, considering that I've mentored some CRE developer/investors to go on and make 7 to 8 figures, I think I can at least say that I'm not shitty.
But I'm sure you have developed some incredible young talent to be a lot more successful than those I worked with since you are able to start at a much younger age.
