Just bring back plastic bags and charge me a sea turtle fee

unit 09-09-2023 08:08 AM

ive been busted for smoking weed in a parking lot when i was like 20. only reason cops were there was cause they were looking for a suspect but they just confiscated our weed instead. got to sit in the cruiser for a few mins, but they returned our pipe which they didnt realize was packed with weed still. smoked as soon as they left lol

Crossed the border with my wife's uncle once, he had a possession charge from when he was 19 years old about 30 years prior, got turned around at the border. Kind of dumb IMO but it is what it is.

MarkyMark 09-09-2023 10:54 AM

You can usually be pardoned for stuff like that. This guy at my work got one pretty easily after he was charged with dealing drugs decades ago

ask him what it cost to buy the pardon.

my buddy bought waivers over the years - for a dumb 20+ year old weed charge.

despite buying multiple 2k+ waivers over the years - they still want 10k more for a pardon. he just said fk it, if he wants to see the Jays he can have a lot more fun for less money flying to TO.

He didn't mention the cost but considering his financial status I feel like he would have mentioned it costing 10k plus for it especially since he just wanted to cross the border with his kid to see a concert lol

Anyways pretty crazy it costs that much but he did sell coke for years so it's not like his hands were clean

Ah yes, using a serial rapist and someone who scoffed at the law for a decade as an example of the stiff drug penalties lol.. typical

All for Naught.

I'm pretty sure it's about $5000.00 but totally worth it.

westopher 09-11-2023 08:24 AM

I mean the point is that you don't have to pay for a pardon for a petty weed crime since it's not a crime anymore

mikemhg 09-11-2023 09:59 AM

What a fucking cash grab. If they're giving you a pass but have to pay $5K for it, it's obvious the charge committed isn't even that important or salient at this point.

So it essentially have nothing to do with any perceived lack of integrity, just pay Uncle Sam. That's pretty nuts.

westopher 09-11-2023 10:53 AM

A fine essentially means it's only wrong if poor people do it.

underscore 09-11-2023 10:59 AM

Punishable by fine means legal for a price.

Hondaracer 09-12-2023 12:01 PM

Lol Jesus fucking Christ this country is a joke..

China town stabbing where 3 people were randomly stabbed

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/0...own-stabbings/

A man by the same name killed his daughter, then stabbed someone else while on release, and now stabs 3 people randomly while on a “day pass” from a psyc ward?

…..

FTFY so the blame is properly placed, can't solve things properly unless the actual failure is identified and addressed... otherwise just shaking fists at clouds.

Hondaracer 09-12-2023 01:00 PM

His numerous previous charges are of federal jurisdiction. Ya know, murder, attempted murder etc. regardless of who was in power then.

How about this one too, Turds pipeline facing a year delay and an additional 100 million dollar overrun? That will help inflation

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/0...ayed-end-2024/

westopher 09-12-2023 02:40 PM

Will you be holding the conservative government responsible for allowing him out in 2009, only 3 years after killing his daughter, unsupervised and responsible for another stabbing?

Hondaracer 09-12-2023 02:45 PM

Sure, just speaks to how disgustingly incompetent judges are at all levels regardless of who appointed then

You murder your daughter and you’re out on a day pass in 3 years?

I feel like a broken record but would that happen in any other country on this planet?

whitev70r 09-12-2023 02:57 PM

I'm kinda with Honda on this one, as much as I have compassion and understanding for those living with mental health illness ... this incident exposed our system big time. Not sure 'who' to blame but 3 people (and their families) will now live with trauma because of this. It's a shame that it happened at a Chinatown festival too when they are putting so much energy into changing the image of Chinatown and how safe it is and then this happens. This might have undone like the whole previous year's work on cleaning up Chinatown.

CivicBlues 09-12-2023 03:09 PM

They should just ban single white men from entering Chinatown at this point. I mean wtf are they doing there anyways? Stabby stabby, spray paint slurs, start fires, shit on the ground that's what. Just leave it for the ah pors and their lo gongs shopping for herbal medicines. You can come as a couple/family or on a guided tour to gawk at them after you run yourself through a x-ray and metal detector. Cops need to stop-and-frisk any swinging dicks with mullets, denim jackets and trucker caps caught walking on the wrong side of Gore St.

Hondaracer 09-12-2023 03:14 PM

Why would anyone invest money there?

CoV wants to “reinvigorate” it? What a money pit. You need to tip toe over crack pipes and needles. Maybe attempt to resolve the underlying issues there before trying to prop it back up. It’s pretty bad when even long term tenants/businesses say it’s a lost cause.

I don’t live far from it and I like a handful of restaurants there but I’m not going there for anything now

I’m no social science major, but as you said, events like this have a devastating ripple effect in the community at large. I think that’s part of Eby’s statement being so angry with it. Finally they have some positive vibes going on and a guy goes on a stabbing spree?

It’s not a bigger story because people didn’t die, but that doesn’t really matter for the bigger picture, the damage is done

MarkyMark 09-12-2023 03:32 PM

Just cause you're batshit crazy and "not criminally responsible" for killing your kid or chopping some dudes head off on a bus doesn't mean you should be rewarded with unsupervised anything going forward.

Sorry but certain shit like murder should mean more than it does when it comes to who they decide to let out for a stroll hoping they hold it together.

Just wanted to make sure there was consistency.
This guy could never be rehabilitated. That should have been clear after the first one, and was clear to anyone with a brain after the second one.

I am a white and I like to go pick up Chinatown BBQ. I was right where the stabbing was the night before sitting for a beer and chicken fingies at juke.
