My next move in Chinatown is dinner at bao bei. |
And as a chef you probably have access to a wide assortment of knives huh? You should be put on a watchlist or something. |
I haven't been taking care of them though since I've been working way too fucking much so most of them are absurdly dull. |
https://millionmarch4children.squarespace.com/ They are doing marches all across Canada. People will be pulling there kids out of school so they can attend. |

March for family freedom, unless your idea of freedom looks anything different from conservative religious freedom. |

It's started. Jt spending 74 million on housing in London Ontario. I wonder what punishment going to say about that. https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/...ct-with-london |

Property prices are about to drop in that entire area if they got 2000 homeless people moving in |
So 74 million to build 2000 units.. That’s 37,000 each unit. At current construction costs that means each unit will be 82 square feet..and that’s assuming private contractor cost, not bloated govt overruns. Good luck |
HK style apartments in the bustling metropolis of London, Ontario. Tiff macklem will have to raise interest rates again to curb demand. |

So that recent grant or whatever it was that came to river district or wherever it was was actually based in reality The number they quoted, I think it was like 450 homes, was granted 250 million, and the quick calculations I did were somthing like $465 a sq ft allowing for 550 sq foot units, seems completely plausible. This seems so far fetched that I have doubts anything will ever even come of the money |
What solution is there though? I know a number of people that work in corrections, even myself doing a brief stint in the role after college. The reality is this -- People don't want to work as correctional officers. There is a shortage of staff in every jail, and the jails are full. There is no funding nor appetite to build more jails. What we're seeing here is essentially the facade of many of our social systems, and their inherant insolvency. Judges aren't simply letting perps go because they're "woke" or bleeding heart liberals. The reality is that there is a capacity issue, and they are bound by that limitation. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/winds...swdc-1.6820314 These stories aren't unique, and are a problem writ-large. You want people off the streets, but you also don't want further taxes or expenditures. Pick your poison then. |
Don’t release someone who killed their daughter then subsequently stabbed another person on a previous day pass? I’ll say it again, society is better off with these people in the incinerator. The answer isn’t just, oh well, the jails are full. Shit like this destroys families and the crack head/mentally Ill/random perpetrators who commit these offences are back out long before the families ever recover. Like this fucking trial: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/0...matched-trial/ We’re arguing whether a case is first degree murder when the guys “DNA” was all over a 13 year olds “vaginal area and anus” and was subsequently strangled? Lol Like fucking kill this guy and be done with it. People like these don’t deserve freedom. |
I'm willing to say I'm on both ends of the spectrum here. Property crimes, theft, even armed robberies, although violent, are crimes based on pretty clear socioeconomic and systematic issues, and I think in many cases, even for multiple time offenders, we need to work on the root causes more than punishment. Random violent crimes, murder, rape, and things under that category, put them in a fuckin bonfire and rid the planet of them before they can do it again. There is ZERO rehabilitation for a child rapist, someone who kills their own children, beats their significant other to death etc. These people are a fucking cancer on the planet and deserve to be treated as such. Mental illness or not, when it means innocent lives are at stake, their rights are 100% less important than those who are contributing members of society, and absolutely nothing should be done to put the general public at risk. |
Sources say JT to remove GST on all new rental builds. What's pp going to say. The standard con answer is jt bad. But if you says this about any of the new housing policies he will look bad but if he praises jt we will look weak to the fuck jt crowd. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/fede...says-1.6561315 |
Who does that benefit other than rich developers? You actually think those savings will be passed on to the renter? Lol wtf is the point |

While it may seem like something taken straight out of a conservative playbook, the construction industry across the country have been bxtching about how high interest rates is killing their ability to finance new projects. If you ask me, I'd still think construction firms are still raking in the dough hand over fist, although they do have the very real problem of finding skilled trades people to work on their projects. But there is a housing crisis across the country, and the Cons have been using the issue as their favourite (and most effective) punching bag. So Turd has to do something to prevent himself from completely handing the election over to PeePee. Even when it is enacted, it is not going to help anyone resolve the housing / affordability crisis soon enough, and that means it won't be the silver bullet to save Turd in the next election. But there are still years to go, and a lot more of these policies aimed at tackling the real issues might still be enough to turn the tide -- at least somewhat. |

JT is cutting the legs off pp so he has nothing to stand on. PP can't complain about this. The cons just had a conversion. The main news story from the conversion was about trans people, not affordable housing. PP is going to fumble the ball. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/con...nder-1.6961991 |
Still avoiding the whole "tax multiple property owners and corporations angle" Politicians won't do anything that puts their retirement plan at stake. |
|
Part of me is looking forward to seeing the conservatives win, watch housing affordability worsen, and then seeing people say that at least it wasn't the liberals and JT would've done worse. |
Things at all levels can’t get much worse so it’s not that much of a stretch You know the liberals are crumbling when they don’t even try to veil their love for wealthy corpo types |
