I never understood the rush to whitewash Ukraine's history of racism and fascism simply because they're fighting Russia, so now they're our guys?

It reminds me of allying with the Ba'athists in Iraq when they were fighting Iran, or the Taliban in Afghanistan when they were fighting the Russians. These guys all have dirt on them, none of them are pious.

The real lesson here is that the lines of the two sides of that war around those regions of Europe at that time wasn't exactly all black and white.
I mean, Russia had just did Holodomor and killed 3.5-5 Million Ukranians six years prior to WW2. I can fully understand why this guy would have had a chip on his shoulder and would have joined the Germans to kill Russians.
