Ever think that TPTB are just trolling us with this shit? Arguing about tampons while the corporations put their hands deeper into our pockets, the climate is collapsing around us, no sensible future for our children, etc. But yeah, let's fucking tear each other apart over chooch plugs first. |
100% While this discussion goes back and forth here honestly I don’t really care and as everyone else has said, not a big deal. But as I see all this shit popping up about it it definitely seems like some shell game BS to get people off the issues that actually matter. My point is overall, it just underlines this issue of the liberals relentlessly passing legislation that literally effects a TINY portion of the population |
This was a campaign promise made by the liberals in 2021. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/federa...ucts-1.6689198 Cons are always upset about the wrong genders going washrooms. Well tubgirl made a video where she goes into a mens washroom to show tampons. The video was later taken down. But what if someone was taking a piss when she entered. https://theseeker.ca/2023/12/tampon-tantrum/ This is just another nothing burger of an issue that can keep cons distracted. |
You can tell this whole culture war crap is getting old when even Cons/Repub voters are getting tired of the whining about it. PP is riding on an already exhausted train with all that stuff. Look at DeSantis, voters are less and less motivated by this culture war anti-woke crap, everyone is tired of talking about it. The same goes for the wokey stuff that Trudeau was pandering in the past, lefties more and more don't care about any of that garbage, that time has passed when inflation and the cost of goods and housing are at center stage. Let's see some substantive policy, give specifics, that's what people want. |
The more time PP is able to talk the more people who hate JT are like, oh this is the other option? Fuck me. Every time this fuckin wiener talks publicly his chances go down. Time really is his enemy. |
^That's exactly what I said too about PP, Trudeau is no fool. Time was always going to be PP's detriment. He was riding his wave when he and his people were putting out those "Vancouver is dying" and all his little commentary pieces online. Enough time in the public eye though, that sheen has diminished, and people are seeing this guy is a one-trick pony candidate. The more he flubs, and more time he spends in the spotlight, the worse it will get for him. I'm seeing his trajectory very similarly to DeSantis's. Trudeau is smart, stall the election and drag it out as long as you possibly can, it will only benefit him. |
Do you really think that’s going to matter? The majority of people who have been liberal voters in the past who are now “done” with the Liberal party never see this stuff. They are going to vote for anyone who can take power from Trudeau |
I'm done with Trudeau, but I will still vote Liberal because the Cons are just bad news for everyone. I don't care about Mr. Celebrity being a goof sometimes... but I do care about human rights and science over religion. Also the last time the Cons were in they fucked a lot of good co-workers lives over and I'm sure they'd do the same again. |
I think you're a little more surrounded by the "fUcK TurD" crowd than you acknowledge. I totally agree a lot of people want Trudeau out, including myself, but if you think this guy doesn't turn those people back to "ok fuck I guess Trudeau again because what else is the option" I don't know what to tell you. It's literally happened the last 2 elections. Cons had some steam and then they showed how fucking stupid their party is. Maybe slightly smarter economically while 100% dumber socially isn't as good of a trade off as people want. |
It won’t matter this time around. I began typing out some sentence that sounded like some dick wagging post so all I’ll say it the people I hear talk about politics and side on the conservative side are all very well established in their lives and careers, they aren’t some right wing gun loving nut jobs. A lot of these people are actually affected by fiscal policy etc. I don’t care what 40 yo living at home dead beat thinks about Trudeau. People, including myself, generally aren’t affected that much. But things like healthcare, crime, etc. are at an all time low/high so I vote in hopes that those things will change. Will they? Probably not, but like I’ve always been saying, it can’t get much worse. PP has a million aces up his sleeve regardless of how he is perceived. These are things Trudeau will -never- back away from so PP has all the leverage. Regardless of how bad PP ends up looking, when the election rolls around and PP says the carbon tax is gone, it’s game, set, and match. |
Carbon tax isn't even on my radar... and again... health care is a provincial issue. How many times does that need to be said lol... even crime is a municipal/provincial issue save for like some serial killer?? Your biggest issue is with the provincial NDP and VPD man, PP ain't gonna do shit for your healthcare or crime here |
And how many times does it has to be said that huge funding shortfalls lay with the federal govt? https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6991510 The new bail reform bill is a.. FEDERAL bill.. which very much effects lower level crime.. And so on. Removing the carbon tax on fuel would instantly put SUBSTANTIALLY more money in peoples pockets, far more than trudeaus or the provinces stupid little welfare cheques they cut every 6 months. Your average person is gullible enough to take that, even if they know the tax will eventually be taken from something else. |
You're still barking up the wrong tree... Ottawa is NEVER going to fix your local healthcare or crime. You're a blip on their radar and they do not care. Carbon tax is 14 cents a litre The price swings alone from big oil are 50 cents back and forth every couple months... 14 cents a litre isn't going to change my life in ANY way and I have 5 cars lol Like what the average person fills up once a week? 60L? $8 in tax a tank? $32 a month? Nah bro... that's barely lunch money. |
Most people don’t think that far ahead. If the election was today and everything was equal, and PP came out and said vote for me, I’ll remove the carbon tax, he would win in a landslide. |
And umm, isn't the carbon tax we pay here implemented by the Province. Since umm...checks watch...2008? |

Is there a way we can start a discussion about the fucking PST on used cars by private sellers or luxury tax in BC? It’s highway robbery we have to pay a 12%+ tax on a used good or a luxury tax on a car priced over $55k. A toyota van these days easily cost more than that. |
In the other thread everyone was shitting on the UN as a bloated, useless, organization. |

For the most part, I don't think the general public will consider the 12%+ tax on used cars important enough to become an election issue. (We'll a provincial election this fall.) The closest thing that can reach the point of becoming an election issue is tax breaks / incentives on EV purchases, included those from the used market. But I don't think it'll ever reach the point to include all cars. Also, the general public have no clue that the average price of a new car nowadays is $66k+, so they're gonna think the provincial luxury car tax rate starting at $55k is a good thing. FailFish |

If I was having a conversation with someone I would say yes, in my opinion policy should be created to help as many people as possible and where do you draw the line in terms of time and money put towards causes that effect less than 1% of the population? |

The trans population in Canada or the US is literally less than 1% of the population, around 0.5%. I've never understood why trans people in general have become such a topic for the right, this hyper fixation on these people is so bizarre to me, much less a campaign topic like so many of these edge-lord rightwing politicians have been espousing. Clearly it's a pander to their religious electorate, but it's fucking weird. |
