Canadian announced delay of MAID eligibility for those soley living with mental illness until 2027. Any thoughts? |

Maid is an incredible thing to help end someone's suffering when they are terminal. I was a non-family witness for me gf's mom a couple years ago so I have first hand experience dealing with it. |

Definitely a slippery slope to include mental illness... a bunch of my friends are noticing with their teenage kids that the kids are struggling to feel "special" or "different" with all the social media they deal with and are self-diagnosing themselves online with mental illnesses now and insisting that it's the case to try and feel like they matter or need special attention somehow. It's pretty disturbing. Imagine they can just he like "I want to get assisted death today" and not really understand the consequences. |

I had to check and make sure that video wasn't some kinda deepfake. What an odd Freudian slip. I'm trying to even think if it was a mistake, but why would 1% even come into a sentence about tax cuts in a positive way? |

From my perspective, this is an entirely understandable position to take, and I can't fault them for not wanting to bear the responsibility. In one of the news clips that I watched, the news was interviewing an ex war reporter suffering from a slew of long time mental issues because of the atrocities that he has seen, and I can see his pain through the video. In clear cut cases like those, of course I think they should be allowed to end their lives with dignity. But then the difficult part becomes where and how you draw that line, and in the real world, things always progress through a hundred shades of gray before white turns into black. |
And people say cons don't want to ban abortions. Alberta abortion survey linked to conservative call centre https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/alberta-a...ntre-1.6758675 Add Alberta's new trans law it looks like the cons do want JT to win another term. |
This is to save Hondaracer the effort of posting this. Totally WTF ??!! Why the hell is the parole board so neutered. Child sex offender Randall Hopley retains leave privileges despite November manhunt https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...le-privileges/ |
Can’t wait till he reoffends hehe hopefully it’s real bad this time |
I truly believe this is a capacity issue, there isn't space or resources to hold these people indefinitely. It's ridiculous how officials aren't just being transparent about this whole issue. |

That’s Canada for ya. |

$80,000 to over 60 million For an app that did -nothing- Imagine what the overruns are like when it’s actually an important project. |
cmon it didn't' do nothing It annoyed thousands of travellers and forced dozens into unnecessary quarantine |
No.. you mean the Mexican west jet staff that couldn’t even understand how to read it didn’t have Canada’s best interests at heart? |
To be fair, if the conservatives were in power during Covid everyone would be dead right now |

Anything pushed out on that short a timeline will have flaws, but I'd be curious to hear how it compares to what other countries did. |
I agree and accept that policies pushed out on a short timeline is going to have its flaws, so I am not at all surprised by the overspending aspect of ArriveCAN. But what I am quite surprised by is the extremely poor record keeping, and the lack of a particular department taking ownership of the program. Bureaucracies like to dodge their responsibilities all the time, but usually when it comes to handing out money, the bar is a bit higher because *somebody* needs to sign and approve it. In that regard, for the money trail to be untraceable, that is rather eye-opening. |
Anybody following this whole safe injection site debate in Richmond? Apparently bring pushed by a city councillor who has some sort of agenda or personal benefit from having this setup, meanwhile the BC premier doesn't even know what the justification is for proposing a SIS in Richmond Also racist libs lol |
