I’d rather be in that scenario than carrying two mortgages lol

What is the allure of a cabin ? I honestly don’t get it. It’s like you have a second place to take care of and it’s always the same place. The amount of money spent into these vacation home is outrageous. I much rather go to different places to explore and also not have to deal with the hassle of upkeep on a property that isn’t used very much

68style 04-27-2024 07:36 AM

I agree, I don't get it either and it's not like we ever had one so not sure where she romanticized the idea from haha

Eby listened to Hondaracer ... BC moving to recriminalize certain areas for drug use. No more free rides near schools, parks, and hospital ... which I mean is common sense to begin with.

Depends on what you're into. If you're into outdoor things that's the way to go.

Two of my uncles own cabins.

One owned a cabin in Tulameen, had the main cabin, then a massive shop with a guest suite on top. Had all the outdoor fun toys: Snowmobiles, ATV's, Side by sides, A sweet big-block 1964 Chevy C10. You can use those things around there. He and his two sons and their families would use it very regularly. (That was until the floods of 2021 which basically wiped out the property and everything on it. They found '64 Chevy C10 a kilometer down the river smashed to shit :( )

The other uncle owns a waterfront cabin on Green Lake (near 70 mile house). He has two sons and two daughers, all with kids of their own (The whole clan is 14 people) use the cabin all the time. My uncle and my cousins will basically live up there for the summer months. My woodworker cousin built himself a little secondary cabin, my other cousins all bought trailers they permanently parked on the property. They also have the outdoor toys, boat, off road vehicles, etc up there. They also hunt when it's hunting season.

Hunting, toys, boats, etc. are all a big draw in owning your own place, but it’s all $$$

There’s nothin like having a boat waiting for you at the dock and going out and having some beers and chilling in the sun not worrying about cops rolling up on you etc.

I can hear the Morgan Wallen playin' already.

I get what people are saying, but honestly you can't beat a summer cabin near a lake and going back to that same spot every year. It hits different.

We have a tradition of going up to a highschool buddy's family cabin out on Lillooet Lake every year, and even though I travel a lot, it's still one of my favorite annual trips.

Badhobz 04-27-2024 11:28 AM

i guess its like me taking that oregon coast/norcal drive all the time. But it doesnt cost me a friggin fortune like a cabin would.

Hondaracer 04-27-2024 11:29 AM

A cabin is like a boat, the best one is someone else’s

westopher 04-27-2024 11:39 AM

There's nothing I'd rather have than a whistler cabin. That's fucking so hilariously out of reach now though, it's not even worth fantasizing about.

At least you're finding fresh hookers on your interstate journeys.

The Lillooet cabin trip is a complete sausage fest nowadays. The girlfriends don't like coming up with us anymore, too many wood ants and mosquitoes for their tastes.

We joked about needing to start finding some beautiful Pocahontas native girls in Darcy on the way up :lol

Badhobz 04-27-2024 11:56 AM

i dont mean to be offensive (i dont give a shit) but ive never seen a good-looking native girl (the 1% native, 99% white ones dont count, im talking DEEEEP FOREST SHIT, sweat lodge kinda crap).

mikemhg 04-27-2024 01:15 PM

:lol :lol :lol

Whistler is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been and I don’t even really ski. We stayed at an airbnb by the McDonald’s there across the street in a smaller outdoor access condo development. It was barely a studio but perfectly fine for a couple all seasons. Looked up listings and the same unit on the second floor sold for $615,000 and even then I was like hmm.. not bad not bad :drunk:

maybe this is me sounding like a grumpy old fart... but the fact the news reports this where it sounds like "a win" where it's prohibited in hospitals shows the state of things.

I dunno why, but the first thought that creeped into my mind was -- if we change out the word "cabin" for "wife" (or "steady girlfriend"), the argument would still mostly stand...

This guy gets it.

Going to your vacation property is not like going to a hotel or resort. You can't just drop your bags and relax. You have to put in work as soon as you get there. Also things break when not in use that have to be repaired. If you rent your place out it always gets cleaned after a guest leaves and you can catch things failing early.

Pics and native ID card to prove she’s not basically a white bitch

mikemhg 04-28-2024 11:42 AM

LMAO.

There are some scorchers in places like Edmonton, but you're right, they def have some cream in their coffee.

Full on native girls are the only types where I see literal concave asses.

Lol my buddy dated a native girl back in the day and that was exactly the case. That has to be the worst possible genetic curse you can get as a woman, even if you're fat you still can't get an ass.
