Jagmeet Singh pulls NDP out of supply and confidence deal with Trudeau Liberals Quote:
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is pulling his party out of the supply-and-confidence agreement that’s helping keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority Liberals in power.
In a video posted on social media Wednesday, Singh says he’s decided to cut ties with the governing party ahead of the fall sitting of Parliament because he thinks the Liberals are “too weak” and “too selfish” to fight for the middle class and stop the Conservatives.
“Today I notified the prime minister that I have ripped up the Supply and Confidence Agreement,” Singh says. “The Liberals have let people down. They don’t deserve another chance from Canadians.”

Right now, polls are saying support for the major federal parties are as follows:
Cons: close to 40%
Libs: mid 20's
NDP: high teens to low 20's
Unlike things in the US, I don't think there is anything the Libs or the NDP can do to cause a sudden major turn around to bring their support numbers back up. As it stands right now, if we have a federal election soon, both the Libs and the NDP are gonna get massacred.
I am so disgusted by the prospect of PeePee becoming PM, the possibility that Rustad and the renamed BC Liberals would come into power, and all the clusterfuck that will result from idiots voting in these idiots to lead (or mislead) our governments... |

In recent days PP was hard on jagmeet for only supporting the coalition any longer trying to get his pension out of it. He clearly wasn’t achieving anything anymore and the liberals had no interest in any of the NDP’s proposals any longer
Conservative govt. at both provincial and federal levels? Hehe

Since the NDP is polling quite poorly, I can't see how Singh would want to trigger an election at this point in time. But dropping out of the agreement could potentially help the NDP wring more concessions out of the Liberals for the time being because the Liberals have even more to lose than the NDP if an election happens sooner rather than later.
The NDP move is 100% done in their own self interest, instead of looking for ways to actually help Canadians.

Unfortunately, our choices now are all so bad in different ways that I really don't know which one is the least harmful.
In the provincial picture, it should be a lot more clear which is the decent choice. But again, sometimes voters don't know what's good for themselves. |

Now cons need to get a non-confidence vote to pass and we can have a Federal election to finally get Trudeau out of there...

What I was hoping for is that Biden stepping down and letting Harris run goes so well that Trudeau steps down before the next election and the Liberals actually run someone decent.
If the cons win a majority federally or provincially we're all fucked, even the people who think it's a good thing because of their blind dislike of Trudeau. If they both win we're mega fucked. Quote:

i dont think the libs could put anyone in that could repair the damage that's already been done, and knowing them they would pull a boneheaded move like putting freeland in, someone who is already deeply unpopular.

This whole like “career politician” is such a weird take and always just used in like circumstances where it backs your opinion? Lol
Like ok don’t take a career politician, take a Trump?
Or even Kamala, what you’re a life long govt. schill?
Who do you want then? Elon? RFK?
People seem endlessly confused by this take..
Its all circumstantial, if you’re literally clinging to power at the end of your term and doing anything you can to get over that hump to receive the pension, then ya you’re pretty clearly only doing it for personal benefit.

After trudeau is gone I think Mark Carney is the best to replace him and rebuild the liberal party. Conservatives already branded him a global elite but he comes from a very average family. Just shows how the average Canadian will drag down anyone smarter/successful.

He's the one that chose to be a hypocrite. The guy spends a lot of time trying to act like he can relate to normal people when he's never been a normal person. Quote:

Who do you want then? Elon? RFK? | I want none of those, they're all terrible options. You want someone who was a relatively normal person and then gained a bit of political experience. Not nepo babies.
The catch-22 of politics is that the people who would actually do the job the best don't want anything to do with politics. Which is why I think being a career politician is such a bad thing. Anyone like that is doing it purely to serve their own desire for power and profit, not to actually benefit their country.

Do you think someone like Trudeau who was vastly independently wealthy prior to becoming PM actually had the countries best interests in mind? Ever?
You want to talk about nepotism? How about the fucking guy who wanted to become PM because his clown father was PM?
Like you won’t find a bigger example of nepotism in global politics than the Trudeaus ffs come on

how about trump appointing all his children to high ranking WH positions?
i don't see how trudeau getting democratically elected is a better case for nepotism than literally assigning roles to your kids
