The expenses Kwan has repaid include: $8,323 for travel to the UK. $3,175 for travel to Bristol. $5,950 for flights. $4,100 for transportation. More than $10,000 for travel to Vienna. $2,600 for a trip to Disneyland. |

People are legit fucking idiots to keep voting for her. |
How the fuck do you have the gulls to expense a trip to Disneyland? :lol You could argue a conference/summit in the UK, maybe even Vienna (doubt it) but what government activity would warrant Disneyland? :lol |
Has anyone else been getting texts from the BC Conservative Party? I'm not sure what shady way they got my number but apparently they know where I live because their latest one is if I support their plan to remove tent cities in Kelowna. |

So people keep saying this shit about BC is cheaper than X bla bla bla But when you search insurance rates across Canada, almost every single article says BC is the second highest behind Ontario on average. Like to Manics graph there and to idiot Rustads point, I don’t really care if old or young peoples insurance is higher, because I’m fairly certain those are the people getting into accidents. If no ICBC means that someone like myself can get substantially cheaper insurance privately, than I 100% support getting rid of ICBC because why should good drivers bear the cost of the people getting into accidents? I’ve got 20+ years without a single claim and my insurance has been the same if not more over the last decade. It went UP $100 this past renewal. |
you do realize insurance normally goes up every year for all other types of insurance right? you should be thrilled that 20 years later your insurance is the same as it was before. just think of how everything has gone up in 20 years and then ask yourself how come insurance hasn't been subject to the same type of inflation? |

https://www.insurancebusinessmag.com...ed-432632.aspx Alberta - $3,151 Nova Scotia - $2,491 Ontario - $2,299 New Brunswick - $2,187 Newfoundland - $2,162 BC - $1,775 PEI - $1,703 Manitoba - $1,373 Saskatchewan - $1,249 That's from an insurance trade mag. Every province above BC is private. Everyone below is public. You really think galen weston jr is going to give you a good deal. |
This isn’t a house where my home is now worth $80,000 more than it was previously under my last agreement. My car is now worth less, it’s a year older, my driving record has improved, and I’ve gone another year without a claim. My insurance policy is 20% of the value of my vehicle. What am I paying more for? Other drivers. |
I dunno, costs me ~$970 for the Mazda for the year, with Business Use & 5mil liability. The F150 is $1125 w/5mil but pleasure use. I think that's insanely cheap. |

https://www.canadadrives.ca/blog/new...the-difference https://www.arcinsurance.ca/blog/ave...ian-provinces/ Then to the conservatives point, this article says older drivers in BC pay the least: https://www.ctvnews.ca/autos/b-c-low...port-1.6189894 There isn’t a single ACTUAL, reliable source to say how much the average cost is. You can search and search and it’s either some graph a guy on X slapped together or it’s consolidated info from an insurance company. Who’s to say what we’re actually paying relative to other provinces, none of this seems remotely reliable |

I still don't know where insurance is substantially cheaper than here. It's much more for me to insure in Alberta, I do know that. |

If your vehicle is going to cost substantially more than average to repair, you should pay higher premiums. If you drive a vehicle that shares parts and body panels with other vehicles, your premiums should be cheaper. My point is, there’s all this talk as to how BC is so cheap, when it seems like there is almost no tangible data Canada wide as to the average insurance rate for ages ranges or prices of vehicles. I would lean toward this data never being publicly available, because it would show “good” drivers are getting screwed regardless of where you live because you pay for bad drivers. Some car guys I watch in the states are insuring insanely modded out vehicles for like $1200 a year, they insure dozens of motor cycles at a time for $50 a month, etc. |

There is no tangible data because private companies don't want that. Why would they? They want make as much money off each customer as possible. Just did a quote from TD for insurance in Alberta for my GR Corolla. It's more than 2x what I pay now. I am paying $1296 with ICBC taxes in. They want $2812 plus taxes and fees. Fuck that shit. https://www.tdinsurance.com/products...verage/alberta The address I used: 10205 100 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 4B5 Honda lets see what yours will cost. |
^ they wouldn't even give me a quote for my car lol. My Jeep was over $2k for equivalent coverage to what I paid $900 for with ICBC. One of the big perks to ICBC and something I would gladly pay extra for, even though I'm not, is that they have to insure everyone. I don't want to end up like my buddies in Quebec and the US that have had private companies refuse to insure their cars because they're RHD/old/sporty/anything other than basis traffic. Quote:
You can try to go private for your non-basic coverage if you want to though. |

Seeing that, I can all but guarantee that'd.be a premium and cost more for me in AB |

We're still rehashing private vs public insurance experiences? There was a page and bit during May in the New ICBC Rate thread: https://www.revscene.net/forums/7151...ml#post9135104 I can't speak to it directly as I've never insured outside of BC, but from reading what most people here have experienced, unless you're a perfect +20 year history driver driving a stock vehicle, then you're going to have challenges. |
Considering I've been driving for like 24 years without an accident I feel like I should be paying less for car insurance. With that being said I have no faith that private insurance is going to swoop in and save me any significant amount of money at all. If private insurance isn't great in other provinces you can sure as shit bet that it's going to fucking suck the biggest dick ever in BC where everything just finds ways to leech every last penny they can out of you. |
So no one has any experience outside of the province, but is just wiling to accept what they’ve been told is the truth besides the fact the vast majority of reporting on the matter says we actually pay much more than comparable places, even within Canada. I get it.. Essentially people are willing to eat losses due to the actions of others because they have no actual data saying otherwise |
Manic literally got a quote and I lived in Alberta and essentially got a discount the moment I switched to BC insurance. My 58 year old mom pays more for her jeep patriot than I do and she's never had a speeding ticket or been in an accident since I was born, so no, that's not what's happening here. You've posted data yourself. You just say it's inconsistent, but considering one link you posted says it's from 2020 and one is from 2024, I don't think inconsistencies are that unlikely there lol. I know you think ICBC is meanie, but private insurance providers aren't known for being for the people. |
I have talked to customer about this. Multiple have said insurance is more expensive in Alberta. Smith got rid of caps and rates sky rocketed. They now have put them back on. From the Alberta governments own website. https://www.alberta.ca/automobile-insurance-reform Quote:

The only good thing about private insurance is that you can bundle multiple cars and house together for a good discount. Registering a car in Alberta is through private registries and they charge you $20 to change your address or 3% if you wanna use a credit card for basic shit. |
