So you're saying he made use of his leverage to get things done, but doesn't deserve credit for it because ... he had to use leverage to do it?
I'm saying Jagmeet was never in the driver's seat of the whole plan even though the NDP were the ones that championed for it. Everything was under the Libs' control. The Libs were the ones that decided whether the proceed with it or not; they were the ones that chose when to start really start working with the NDP to get the details down. Jagmeet can claim victory on the programs all he wants, and I would not disagree with him that he/NDP got the programs delivered, but he/NDP doesn't deserve nearly as much credit as he claims they do.
Speculation on the street is, Joly and Champagne are the front runners to replace Turd should he decide to step down. While I personally have a positive image for both of them -- esp Joly -- I am not sure whether it is a wise move to step into the party leadership role right now when you just know the Liberals are gonna receive a beating at the next election no matter what they try. The chances for the Libs to not lose the next election are long gone.
Your thoughts on Turd's announcement of big reduction in the number of permanent residents in 2025?
Trudeau will drop immigration targets today: official
by: Laura Osman
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce a major drop in the number of new permanent residents Canada will accept in 2025.
As first reported by The National Post, the government's immigration levels are expected to drop to 395,000 in 2025, a huge decrease from the 500,000 that had previously been set as the target.
The information was provided by a government official with knowledge of the plan.
Trudeau and his immigration minister will also announce reduced targets for number of temporary residents for the first time.
The government's goal is to reduce the number of temporary residents to five per cent of the population over the next three years, down from 6.5 per cent in March.
The moves come after years of rapid increase to the number of new permanent residents in Canada and a ballooning number of people coming to Canada on a temporary basis, which federal ministers have conceded put pressure on housing and affordability.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has accused the Liberals of destroying the national consensus on immigration.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Oct. 24, 2024.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not seeing a "smokeshow"
I mean she's a good looking woman for her mid 40s and I"m pretty sure most of us have a thing for blondes as well.. I dunno? Stress of her job isn't doing her any favours but look 10 years back she was pretty cute.
When you're up in a group of 2s and 3s even a 7 feels like a smokeshow
Don't know if I trust her to run the country though. In her term as Foreign Affairs Minister she's managed to piss off 2 major powers and a bunch of of other upstarts into cancelling visas for Canadians. Yeah yeah, fuck them but it's your job as a diplomat to be...err... diplomatic.

This wasn’t a try it out and admit our mistakes later type thing either.
Even people here, years ago, figured those targets were too ambitious before it became glaringly apparent it was. But of course people call it racist or whatever you want to throw out.
Businesses and the labour market aren’t likely to ever recover from this.

they need to shut down those fake schools and also limit the # of hours a "student" can work.
Of course the latter will just cause more to be paid under the table, but it should have some effect....right?

It's going to suck to businesses. You will see more places reduce oping hours.
Close them all. Who uses this labour? Wendy’s, Tim Hortons and Churches?
This garbage pushed out legitimate small business for the sake of slave labour.
My wife’s office that has about 150 people employed has some “Coquitlam college” on the same floor. They actually had to put up signs in the hallways about loitering and closing the doors behind you because the smell was getting so bad from the students congregating in the common hallways ffs

Dunno, the 10 coffee shops I frequent and the 15-20 restaurants in my neighbourhood don’t employee incompetent Indian labour. Literally not one of them outside of the tims and subway.

That's one of the more flattering pictures of her when you search her name on Google for sure. She's definitely good looking and in the real world I'd call her pretty but she's only "smokeshow" status in politics.
