There's no law that says the leader of a political party actually has to have a seat.

Argh that old spaghetti house in Richmond has a nice looking waiting staff. Dem girls are lit. Food was alright for the price but some of these waitresses. Especially the door greeter woman.

That's surprising for a "family" restaurant...

Looks like the NDP may have a majority. Chad Skelton: NDP on track to flip Surrey-Guildford, maybe Kelowna Centre too

inv4zn 10-26-2024 11:09 PM

I know it's a bit of a joke (not really, actually), but the number of people I know first-hand that voted BC conservatives because they weren't happy with Trudeau is stupidly high.

I honestly like the BC NDP and what they've done; I hope they can do enough to change/educate the rest of the province.

Hondaracer 10-27-2024 07:43 PM

NDP = Needles Drugs Poverty

Btw gotta know some pretty fucking dumb people to think they are ousting Trudeau in a provincial election… I know some pretty simple people who are barely single issue voters and not one of them thought that way. If you’re that disconnected from information than you’re likely a bum regardless of who’s in

68style 10-27-2024 09:11 PM

Gonna get you a bottle of Ensure for Christmas old man lol

whitev70r 10-27-2024 09:34 PM

Nova Scotia premier, Cons Tim Houston, who ranted against snap election, calls one. He wanted to capitalize on the negative association that the Provincial Liberals has with the Federal Liberals. So while there is no direct correlation on Provincial and Federal parties ... people do connect the 2 levels in terms of general policies. The confusion with BC is that the NDP acts like the Federal liberals. The BC Liberals/now defunct BC United (Christy Clark, Kevin Falcon) acted more like Cons. The present BC Cons is like the Reformed Party or Tea Party in the US.

So...approximately 40% of Americans, then.

I have no issue with people voting conservative. My issue is people voting (for anyone) without knowing jack shit. Literally hurr durr I vote hurr.

Traum 10-27-2024 10:09 PM

For whatever reasons, some people think the BC NDP are collaborating with Turd and the federal Liberals bcos the federal NDP was together with Turd through the supply and confidence agreement.

And since all provincial NDPs are part of the federal NDP -- this is actually true across Canada -- these people think they are voting Turd out by voting for Rustad and the Conservatives in the provincial election.

Would someone please tell me how many leaps of logic was involved there?

In these western democracies, people generally get who they deserve. Whether it be a Trump or a Trudeau.

westopher 10-28-2024 06:57 AM

Not necessarily.
Trudeau ran on things like proportional representation then rescinded on a promise that would have actually made a positive effect on how the government works.
In trumps case I agree. He's pretty clear about how shitty he plans on being.

JDMDreams 10-28-2024 12:51 PM

So again conservatives and Greens can't do shit then.

AstulzerRZD 10-28-2024 02:45 PM

NDP are going to lose at least one MLA to speaker (unless someone from Cons volunteers).

To get anything to pass, they need to keep ALL of the NDP happy and pickup a vote or two from greens and cons.

They’ll get less done but I feel the outcome should be good

westopher 10-28-2024 03:07 PM

If politicians weren't so spineless these days and didn't just have to fall in line, this would actually be ideal. Differing perspectives that have to work together to get things done.
Unfortunately the last 5 years or so, doing what's best for your constituents comes second to fucking things up for the current government in power.

Or someone from the Greens volunteer which might make more sense.

CivicBlues 10-28-2024 03:48 PM

the 2 elected Greens are like total n00bs though. Don't think they're up for it.
