He went to Ladner hospital and proceeded to wait 8 hours to be seen. Which the doc was like you should have come earlier (how?) since it was so swollen they couldn't assess the issue. They did a CT scan but which wielded no results. They booked him a MRI at Peace Arch a week later lol. Doc at Ladner was like I'll get someone to bring you crutches and a brace. Doc came back in the room an hour later and buddy was still sitting there waiting LOL. Anyway, buddy wanted to go to urgent care .. but there was no other option. Now it's sounding like it might be an ACL tear, but not sure. He's thinking of just flying to HK to get this fixed. Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk |
Awesome system. Working as designed. |
Fly to HK?! You can just get a MRI here by pay privately... that's common for any knee thing. |

More of the welfare state “The temporary GST relief will apply to children’s items such as clothing and diapers, as well as pre-prepared hot meals. It will not apply to monthly bills.” |
He said what everyone was thinking |
Your thoughts on this "holiday break" from Turd and the Liberals? I don't think that these temporary GST tax breaks change anything in terms of voter support for the Liberals. Jagmeet is already taking credit for forcing the Liberals to give these holiday trinkets to Canadians. The NDP wanted permanent GST tax breaks for certain items. https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/1...rals-holidays/ More than 18.7 million Canadians will be getting a $250 cheque from the federal government this spring as part of a suite of measures the Liberals are proposing that will also temporarily cut the GST on items like toys, restaurant meals, and beer and wine. Starting Dec. 14, 2024, and until Feb. 15, 2025, the GST/HST exemption will apply to items that include toys, diapers, restaurant meals and beer and wine. This new tax break will apply to: Prepared foods, including vegetable trays, pre-made meals and salads, and sandwiches. Restaurant meals, whether dine-in, takeout, or delivery Snacks, including chips, candy, and granola bars Beer, wine, cider, and pre-mixed alcoholic beverages below 7 per cent ABV Children’s clothing and footwear, car seats, and diapers. Children’s toys, such as board games, dolls, and video game consoles Books, print newspapers, and puzzles for all ages Christmas trees It's time to buy a PS5 with the GST exemption! LUL The move comes as an inflation-driven affordability crunch has left voters unhappy with the Liberal government, and a week after the NDP made a promise it would issue a permanent GST break for essential items if the party wins the next election. It also comes as the government has been unable to move anything along in the House of Commons since late September as the Conservatives filibuster proceedings, demanding documents from the government or a pledge from the NDP to join them to defeat the Liberals and force an election. Singh is taking credit for forcing the Liberals to take today’s action, saying in a statement that the NDP won a “tax holiday” for Canadians. Singh’s proposal was to permanently remove the GST from essentials including diapers, prepared meals, cellphone and internet bills. That was expected to cost $5 billion, but he was also urging provincial governments to match the plan with cuts to provincial sales taxes |
this fucking douchebag. give GST exemptions on cars, clothing, handbags, and jewelry you fucking turd. nobody gives a shit about your little pittance GST on meals |
If you bought a car and you couldn’t afford the maintenance people would call you a fool But you can have a kid and literally rely on govt. handouts and these pathetic gestures and be celebrated lol.. These short term handouts are so fucking stupid.. cut ACTUAL tangible things not fucking welfare cheques every 6 months when Canadians get antsy.. |
Comparing having a kid to buying a car is fucking retarded man, even for hyperboleracer. There shouldn't be GST on essentials like car seats, kids clothing or prepared meals anyways. If you want these "government handouts" so badly get to creampieing man. The only thing aggravating about this is the exemption on beer and wine. Alcohol is one of if not the biggest contributors to health problems in this country. I say this as someone that loves a drink, if you're gonna have to be taken care of by a publicly funded system because you choose to kill yourself slowly in the name of enjoyment it shouldn't come at a discount. |
Well it’s no different than the CBC running non-stop fucking online gambling ads. A publicly funded govt corp pushing 10 different gambling sites? Legitimately I know more people who are ruined from gambling than drugs and alcohol. But a sponsorship is a sponsorship! |
I mean it's a lot different but I don't think gambling ads should be allowed anymore than tobacco ads. I can assure you less people die from gambling related diseases than alcohol related diseases though lol. |
So this welfare state move is going to cost over 6 billion dollars… To give GST breaks on fucking “snacks” booze, and Christmas trees.. JFC.. we are a joke. A literal fucking joke |
"Give me a tax break. NO NOT LIKE THAT!" - hondaracer |
I dunno why Turd bothered to "cave into the NDP's demand" for the GST holiday. Both Turd and the Liberals are DONE. Nothing they do can save them from the 20%+ deficit in the polls, including replacing Turd now with a different leader. Having Singh and the NDP milk them by their ballz makes it look even uglier. The best thing Turd can do for himself, and more importantly for Canada, is to dissolve government himself and call for an election. It is pointless to hang onto power like this. He is just making himself a bigger lame duck than Biden is right now. |

You’re trying to buy public opinion with welfare cheques. Cut the carbon tax, cut GST completely. Not for the fucking holiday season, Turds ego so big now he thinks he’s fucking Santa Claus? :lol |
I never like the idea of hand-out one-time payment cheques. For our household, a single payment of $250 from the feds, or ICBC, or whomever, does nothing for us financially in the grand scheme of our annual expenses. But in totality, these payments add up to anywhere from 10s of millions to 100s of millions in additional government costs. Meanwhile, there's an endless list of social services that are under-funded! Just send the funds directly to something tangible, like build a new school, or something like that. That said, I know there are many people for which $250 is tangible, so I can't speak for everyone. Just my own thoughts here. |
Honda Even if the carbon tax cut saved you the exact same amount in a year, you'd be handing PP flowers at Capitol Hill if he did it and threatening to storm the capitol if Trudeau did it. Let's have a little bit of introspection here. I agree with eff-1 above though. I don't want tax cuts or "vote for me" cheques. I want the money in the system to be spent better. |
If there was no carbon tax, I’d instantly save more than these welfare cheques per year. As would everyone else. I don’t really care about that though even $5000 a year does nothing for me. It’s moreso how pathetic these policies are that gets me talking. 6 billion on this shit is multiple hospitals, dozens of schools, etc. obviously what I’m getting at is what Eff-1 outlined, not just money in my pocket is bad because it’s JT This is just a frivolous use of funding and resources for nothing more than public opinion. Appealing to the dumbest, worst off people we have in this country. |
Ok so you want those things funded? So if you were to save $5000 in taxes a year instead of this because of the carbon tax (are you spending 120k on gas a year?) how do you think these will be funded with the 20x larger tax shortfall from that, since you consistently express how important it is to get rid of it? Do you want lower taxes or more programs and hospitals? Both? Best of luck. The dumbest people won't even be appealed to by this because they will all just say TuRdeU bad, regardless of what's enacted. |
Govt. efficiency? Remove the bloat and non-stop over runs on federal projects? Utilize resources we have to fund projects? Tax people and corporations who should be taxed and get your revenue that way? Stop giving handouts to failed states and welfare cases, stop propping up peoples lives to the point where they have no incentive to progress? We ran surpluses before the carbon tax, now we run deficits with all this income? Why? Because our spending is out of control on stupid bullshit no one cares about? It’s not really about removing this tax and what are we going to do, what does a tax that feeds into general revenue even accomplish? You can’t hang your hat on -anything- if you don’t have a way to measure the outcome. |
let's donate them - RS picks a cause, we can all chuck in the 250 bucks. what could be more FUCK TRUDEAU than giving the money to a worthy cause?
