Quote:
Leah West, a former lawyer with the federal Department of Justice, describes the country's policy as one of "inaction."

Canada "should bring them home and prosecute those that they have the evidence to prosecute for offences," said West, who teaches national security and intelligence at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Even though Abu Ridwan is confined to a Syrian prison, he told The Fifth Estate he has no regrets about the oath he took to defend and fight for the Islamic State.

"In terms of actually being a part of the Islamic State, I don't regret that," said Abu Ridwan.

"The fact that I'm a prisoner doesn't mean that I change my beliefs. It doesn't mean that I change my position with regards to my religion, with regards to the Sharia."

Another Canadian ISIS fighter who goes by the nom de guerre Abu Huzaifa said he spent seven months enforcing Sharia law for ISIS before returning to Canada in 2016.

In an interview with a New York Times reporter, Abu Huzaifa confessed to killing civilians in Syria, but he has not been charged with any crime.

The Fifth Estate approached Abu Huzaifa with a hidden camera at the place where he works in the Greater Toronto Area. He said he is in a counselling program with a local imam that is monitored by the RCMP and aimed at deradicalizing him.

Abu Huzaifa said he is not sure how the sessions are going or whether they are making any difference for him.

When asked what he thought about the captured ISIS fighters in Syria, men he still describes as "his brothers," he said: "If we bring these guys back, it shouldn't be that big of a problem, to be honest. I'm probably scarier than them walking around free because day by day I know I got off scot-free.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the repatriation process begins sometime next year, what with the U.S adding pressure on us to "claim" our nationals. Perhaps, the first step is to take a page out of the European handbook i.e. bring home the children of Canadian nationals currently being held in Kurdish camps. Eventually, slowly bringing home the actual fighters. Either way, it is sure to be a highly controversial process that is sure to rile up the average Canadian.

Getting him to flip would be the best outcome. In a jail, it would mean he's got access to other inmates where he can spread his ideas.

What would be the best course of action in this case? Strip him of citizenship and send him back to ISIS? What would that mean for other Canadians, knowning that they can renounce your citizenship.

You're actually at the point of needing to be banned from this thread.

Nowhere in that article (or anywhere, ever) does it state any political party advocating for returning ISIS fighters or their families to have access to firearms. They are obviously in a database with a history that would prevent them from being issued a license by the RCMP to purchase a firearm. If anything the Conservative candidates want to make it harder for them to get illegal weapons through illegal means by targeting organized crime not just blanket banning certain types of firearms because ignorant and un-educated people think they look scary. That's the Liberal parties proposed policy.

You're literally CiC 2.0 posting unequivocally false garbage.

Abu Huzaifa has not been criminally charged. So he can go out and get a fire arms licence.

If he becomes the next Prime Minister, it would be a Scheer miracle.

It's Trudeau, Scheer doesn't stand a chance, and Jagmeet will Singh the blues.

That's illegal. Can only occur if person has dual nationality with another country as was the case recently with that Jihadi Jack kid from the UK.

You do realize he'd be on terrorist watch, under surveillance constantly.
Do you even know who it is that determines who is and isn't accepted for licensing?

How is doing a event with an American youtuber going to get him more votes. He should be talking to Canadians and doing events with his Candidates not some foreigner. The event wasn't even live streamed.

^To a packed theatre at $70 a ticket. Perhaps they are polling higher than the 1% they've been receiving? Reminiscent of Trump leading up to the election.

The reach of social media goes far beyond borders. Talking with someone with a massive reach can be a good strategy.

So this was a straight up cash grab. Whats the point of talking to someone with a massive reach online when it's not going to be shown on line. Me should have brought in Milo. he's broke and could have used the money.

And another one leaves.

You didn't seem to be up in arms when you posted Trudeau on Patriot Act a few pages back
And BTW, he had two candidates on stage with him

It's called fundraising. Something party leaders do when their daddy doesn't leave them a trust fund parked in the Cayman islands. Or a foundation that receives "donations" from lobbyists.

So put down the haterade, it's obviously affecting your mental ability, and enjoy the event that you couldn't find on line. Covered by none other than your favorite media source, guaranteed to have you triggered to the fullest degree.

If Bernier nationalised the oil sands and declared getting oil to Asian markets a matter of national interest. I would vote for him regardless of whatever else is in his platform. IMO it is the first step to building Canada in the direction that would best serve its citizens.

It's been done before.
