Well, if the U.S. will be more dependent on Canada for critical minerals, the rare earth mineral stuff, because of China's export ban on their critical minerals,
Canada should be charging a higher price for exports to the U.S.

If, and this a big IF, a federal election is called now, and PP Boy and the Cons form the next government, would there a big change in terms of respect from Trump/Cheeto towards Poilievre?
Although PP Boy would be a big unknown to Trump as a newly elected PM, is there anything that the Cons can do to protect Canada's economy from American tariffs AND get some respect from the US government and Trump as a country?
Would PP Boy be just another Yes man to Trump? Cheeto just calls him Governor PP instead of PM PP?
Garfield could just keep calling PP Boy as "Governor" and Canada as a "great state".
Trump knows Turd is gone. There’s no reason to respect him or even deal with him on a fair basis. Trump could basically ask anything from Turd and he must obey like a lap dog because he has zero power without The NDP’s support.
At the very least, if PP had a conservative majority, they could enact legislation with teeth without having to blow Jagmeet off every time they wanted to push something through.
Also it’s funny how a few pages back everyone was saying “the border isn’t an issue!!” And now all of a sudden they find all these issues and holes they are plugging up. Some are insanity like if you escape border control and stay in Canada illegally for 2 weeks you can claim asylum through a loop hole.

I don’t think one way or the other about Elon, but it’s pretty clear he’s far more intelligent and can run a business far better than the liberals run Canada. Even with flushing billions down the toilet with Twitter.

1) Alberta has no jurisdiction on border security. Border security and control are a federal matter.
2) The best trick in that vile Alberta woman's bag is picking a fight with Ottawa, esp Turd, because enough of her constituents are idiots that always fall for this idiocy. So she is picking yet another fight with Ottawa to rally her own support base with -- hey look! We are taking matters into our own hands, and doing what Ottawa/Turd isn't doing! Personally, I would expect PeePee to stand a bit tougher than Turd. It is very much Turd's nature to present himself to be softer and more sensible, whereas Conservative people tend to act tougher -- both (Doug) Ford and PeePee have vowed to respond with retailitory measures against Trump's tariffs.
Ford's threat to stop transmitting energy to several eastern states is interesting, and personally, even though I generally really hate Ford, I would actually like to see that happen if Trump goes ahead with the 25% tariffs. I don't think it'll cause Trump to back down, cuz if anything, Trump hates losing, and most of the time, that results in him escalating the situation. But if people around him can rein him in, the US will back down. It has happened before with the pulp exports back in the pandemic days as one of us has mentioned.
PeePee is supposed to be an attack dog, and I honestly believe he has that nature in him. At the same time, I also thinks of him as those types of tiny yappy dogs that are super aggressive when they are in a safe environment, but what actually happens when push comes to shove may or may not see that aggressive behaviour continue.

BTW, not selling power to the states from Hydro based generation is a non-factor. None of the provinces who rely on hydro have the ability to store electricity. They sell based on pricing and demand at that moment.

elons last 3 or 4 ventures have been a failure. Boring company failure, his AI is a failure ranks lower than many other AI's, his autonomous robots are a failure. He had to fake demo's and his robo taxis are a failure.

It costs $$$ to generate power, companies like Hydro and Quebec power broker power they have available and are currently generating. That’s why you see hydro importing power during “cheap” times and selling during demand times. They sell this power on the fly. They don’t turn off turbines thinking oh yea well we better save this water for when the US bows to our demands.

There's nothing "embarrassing" about the situation, Canada is simply 1/10th of the US population, and economy, so that's where we are gonna sit with our biggest trading partner. This isn't fucking new, just the hostility is because of who got voted in.

Trump seems to warm up to leaders who are tough on crime, tough on immigration, conservative in general whereas he mocks libs. So I suspect Trump will give the token thumbs up and obligatory congrats to PP when he gets elected and Trump might actually do subtle things or a favor or two to support like minded Cons governments. Only thing that could gain more Trump respect for PP is if PP had a few sexual assault charges against him.

The private sector is hugely incompetent as well, so I have to wonder if the public sector is actually that much worse than the private sector. Lots of people seem to expect the public sector to somehow operate at an efficiency level far beyond anything that has existed in reality.

That's not true at all. We often come up with amazing products. I've worked or at least visited several small companies that were building industry leading products. The problem is that most of the owners follow the Canadian dream. And that is to sell your company to an American and ride off into the sunset. It's rare that things actually stay here.
In Vancouver alone you can still see a few around like Avigion (Motorola), Arcteryx (AMER), Point Grey Research (FLIR), Crystal Designs(->BO->SAP), etc.
Don't even bother, he just ignores facts because he hates the figurehead so much.
He won't even acknolwedge that the all important national debt was lowered twice in the last 10 years under a Liberal government... something that has NEVER happened under a Conservative government in the history of Canada. But only Conservatives know how to spend properly.
Blah blah blah just admit "ANYONE BUT TRUDEAU EVEN IF IT MEANS I LOSE MY FACE"... same mentality as USA. Because he knows he will be okay financially even if PP blows everything the fuck up and then can revert to saying "Well he still did better than a continued Liberal government would have" with no actual evidence or way of analyzing this hypothetical alternate timeline.

So every single private company I’ve ever worked for is based on metrics. Whether that’s profits, timelines, outcomes, etc. if you don’t meet those metrics, you are fired, your contract is terminated, you no longer get work based on your incompetence.
The opposite seems true in the public sector. You can continually prove you are not capable of meeting your obligations and continue to be awarded contracts. You can also consistently run cost overruns, not meet deadlines, etc. and still get work.
Don’t know who you’ve worked for in the private sector but if you operated a business in the construction industry like people do in the public sector, you wouldn’t last a year.
