Searching quickly that is certainly not the case.
Don’t really feel like going through and reviewing all these links but almost none of the comparable first world countries with comparable populations doubled their debt, period.

The states debt is almost irrelevant because their GDP is so high, their GDP is almost 100 times ours. They could claw their way out of almost any debt eventually.
Our GDP is -nothing- we have nothing to provide to pay down debt. | You honestly don't look at numbers enough.
Of G7 countries 3rd best in terms of debt to GDP. The only country that's substantially better is Germany.
If the GDP RATIO of the US is worse than ours how exactly does their large economy help them get out of debt faster? It's a ratio man.
Countries like Croatia have an awesome debt to GDP ratio but a much worse debt to wealth ratio.
You can't pick one thing and constantly harp on it with out acknowledging other parts of the data for the complete picture. It is only partially relevant.

I’m not gonna spend 2 hours building charts for comparison of course there are endless intricacies into these arguments.
I think when you look at the example of Sweden on the last page, ok things like unemployment etc. are higher, but then you look at sources of revenue there like a far higher corporate tax.
Canada cannot follow that model to pay down debt because we’ve backed ourselves into a corner with industry. We are walking a tight rope in terms of attracting business VS generating revenue. So while I completely agree with you that these large corporate entities in Canada are largely to blame for many things, what are we going to do to hold them accountable? Raise corporate taxes? That seems like a total pipe dream now given the monopolies and the fucked up supply chains we’ve allowed to fester here.
Are we the worst? No
Are we doing well in an attempt to combat these issues? No.

That we all agree on, however, that's 50 years of policy, not 10.
It's also worth noting that the Canadian public deserves some of that blame. Lazy and cheap people spending all of their money on bullshit from giant globocorps because they don't want to walk down the street for it. Amazon is the public's fault more so than the governments. We got exactly what we deserve and now it's the only option.

Numbers don't lie https://ici.radio-canada.ca/rci/en/n...ers-data-shows
Paul Beaudry served as deputy governor of the Bank of Canada from 2019 and 2023 and is now a professor at the Vancouver School of Economics at UBC.
Relative to other countries, we're getting collectively poorer, Beaudry told CBC News. And it's not only relative to the U.S., it's relative to a lot of other countries. We're in the laggard group.
In 2002, Canada's GDP per capita was about 80 per cent of what the U.S. generated — although much of that country's wealth is concentrated (new window) in the hands of a relatively small number of people.
But by 2022, Canada's GDP per capita was just 72 per cent of that of its neighbour to the south, a decline that means the U.S. has an even bigger leg up over Canada when it comes to living standards.
That gap between us and the United States is not just large today. It has been widening at a pace that we haven't seen in generations, said Trevor Tombe, a professor of economics at the University of Calgary. |

Things like this are why it's hard to take all the Trudeau criticism seriously.
Like national post, one of the biggest (and fucking shittiest) media companies trying to stir up outrage over this guy going to a concert? Especially when the answer is "he paid for them"
How is it some sort of newsworthy event, and why would those cocksuckers expect any more questions answered than that?
It doesn't matter what this guy does, conservatives and the media pointed at them acts like he murdered someone every time he moves, speaks or breathes. Quote:
A PMO spokesperson declined to answer nearly all questions, such as how the prime minister managed to secure multiple tickets for the event, who he bought them from and how much he paid.
“The Prime Minister personally paid for his tickets” is all PMO spokesperson Jenna Ghassabeh would say in an email to National Post.

Well.. his stolen Valour buddy essentially did even worse and then ultimately backed off going because it looked terrible https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7400840
Invited to a charity event almost certainly because of his title and status, attempts to weave some bullshit like this to justify it: Quote:
Sajjan said his family previously purchased four tickets for Swift's concert in Toronto but ended up selling them at cost, choosing instead to attend the Vancouver concert.
| And then ultimately doesn’t end up going because it looks terrible that you used your stupid position to get these tickets through a charity event.
Not the first time buddy has woven a lie either so his story trying to justify the event is very hard to believe.
Everyone is shit.

Yeah I can't believe Sajan still has a job after that. Like that was a pretty substantial lie. Kinda like when Morneau didn't claim his French villa for taxes because he "forgot about it"
They are all fucks, cause the system allows it. How can we fix the system when the ones who benefit from it the most are the only ones that can change it?

Just constantly throwing money at companies designed to profit off abusing the middle class and then wondering why we're all fucked. | I disagree - fundamental issue here is velocity of money.
Money moves slow and gets hoarded in real estate - NOT productive.
States money gets spent/reused much faster compared to 3-4 years to turn money through an RE project.
US RE is a tax avoidance / estate planning scheme more than a real industry.

Something like Airbnb you’re putting money into individuals hands at least albeit with the argument you remove those units from the housing market.
So now you ban Airbnb, and a hotel at the sandman during December is $800 a night. These global giants strong arm you into paying whatever they ask, and at the same time all but eliminating the potential for “normal” families to use their services.
Stuff like that is so engrained in our culture now, the opposite leaves most people even worse off.
Like I’d love to get rid of all of that and go back to small independent shops and retailers, however I’m fortunate enough to be willing to pay a little more here and there, I live in a place I can walk to everything etc.
At this point if you just cut all those services out, people would likely be poorer than they are now.

Not anymore you aren't, AirBNBs are mostly owned by huge companies or investors with multiple properties to their name. You're not staying in some mom & pops spare room anymore.
I stay at licensed hotels, take licensed cabs and pick up my own food instead of spending $10 to get a dude to drop off Subway. I've never had to pay anywhere near $800 a night for a hotel.

The real cuck in Canadian leaders today is my premiere Danielle Smith, Trump says jump she’s asking how high can’t wait to go to the inauguration and deep throat DJT in person the way she’s carrying on.
Announces here she’s going all in on border security when it isn’t even her jurisdiction and when Premier Ford in ON has the gonads to say yah we’ll negotiate a good faith deal but if it’s not in good faith I’m turning off New York’s electricity, she doubles down and says that there is no possible scenario where she stops exporting energy to the USA.
Yah good job Danielle just throw away your only bargaining tool before talks even start, what a great plan.

I’ve got 45+ Airbnb stays, maybe 2 have been owned by a larger company who manages the suite.
Does Hilton, Hyatt, etc these chains that plop boutique hotels in slums around the world contribute more to society than Airbnb? I doubt it.
And yes, the sandman was $800 from the middle of December through the holidays on weekends. Just like hotels in Penticton went from $280 a night to $450 a night after the Airbnb ban.

100 percent actual list. I know because I work for that federal government dept.
How do you get on this list? Well, if an employer violates TFWP rules, they can get banned for a minimum of two years from the program as well as pay fines.
There is an Integrity unit of officers who do announced and unannounced inspections of the employer's workplace premises. Make sure that they follow the rules of the program, and not do anything stupid like abuse foreign workers.
examples: Forcing workers to sleep on really gross accommodations, unhygienic conditions, not give overtime pay to workers, threaten workers verbally or physically, sexual harassment, forcing workers to give back overtime pay by driving workers to a bank machine, etc.
The list goes on and on. You won't believe the things that some Canadian employers will do to exploit foreign workers.
Oh by the way, the workers aren't forced to work at low wage. There are wages that employer must pay for the prevailing wage for jobs at each location. Twenty percent increases have been applied to job wages as wage threshholds for all jobs offered on applications so that foreign workers are treated fairly like Canadians.
-cannot make foreigners work as low paid slaves, right?
