That one had to happen, the negotiations were at a complete impasse with no budge... need to be sent back to work.

All these strikes like ports and stuff hurt Canada's already pretty poor economic viability, they need to stop happening... especially in positions that are by and large unskilled/don't require special education of any sort.

Freeland and Fraser resigning shows the writing on the wall, Trudeau has lost the cabinet and we all should be expected for more ministers to jump ship so they save their own asses. Get ready for an election in the new year especially with the CP workers being forced to go back to work.

whitev70r 12-16-2024 08:09 AM

There was a cabinet shuffle coming, so it looks like Trudeau wanted her off finance (they have not been seeing eye to eye lately, rumours of rifts), bring in Mark Carney, an unelected official. Trudeau tells Freeland on Friday, she resigns today when a finance update was scheduled to stick it to Trudeau. It's politics.

It is on the headlines today but in 24 hrs, no one will care. I remember the Jodie Wilson-Raybould incident had about the same news cycle, maybe a tad longer ... a week.

68style 12-16-2024 08:12 AM

Sean Fraser is quitting completely, not even seeking re-election.

Probably the smartest move possible.. I don't get why these guys enjoy being face fucked by half the public on any given day, weird ass version of narcissism to stay in politics for any length of time.

Hondaracer 12-16-2024 08:15 AM

Freeland said she’s going to run in her local riding again for provincial politics lol yea ok.. good luck.

whitev70r 12-16-2024 08:16 AM

^ maybe the cushy salary and pension? And perhaps there is a smidgeon of idealism, got into it wanting to serve the public.

westopher 12-16-2024 08:18 AM

It seems like Trudeau doesn't listen to anyone in his party anymore. NDP is poised to be official opposition at this point.

He hasn't for a while but everything seemed to have tight lips about it, now everyone sees the writing on the wall and are jumping ship (as they should)

O wow I was just enjoy my less tax goods, are we still getting the $250 then:pokerface:

AstulzerRZD 12-16-2024 08:49 AM

The economic statement to boost SRED and business incentives is pretty good:

Short of the natural resources I wanted to see in my previous wishlist, this addresses a lot of it

Also btw - keep your receipts.

BREAKING NEWS: 6 hours before the GST/HST holiday is set to begin, CFIB confirms with government that it is NOT mandatory for businesses to participate: "This measure is now law. We expect businesses to comply with the new rules, but we don’t intend to chase after small businesses that may struggle to implement the measure in time. There remain pathways for businesses and all Canadians to obtain their GST relief on qualifying goods through the CRA."

Badhobz 12-16-2024 08:53 AM

keep your receipts !?!!/ whats the friggin chance of that happening. jesus christ turd fucked this up so hard.

Hondaracer 12-16-2024 09:01 AM

Reading on Reddit there were a few small/medium size business owners that said the implementation of this took 2-3 full days between 2-3 people to reconfigure their inventory system to remove the GST because the idiotic promise is so varied you’ve got to manually remove the GST on things like jig saw puzzles etc. because it’s not just an overarching category of items to remove it on.

Start going into business and restaurants and cause headaches for places that haven’t removed it? Westopher your restaurant better have it removed bro! People come in and get in a screaming match over not saving $4.70? :lol

^ my in laws runs a small business.

It's not MANDATORY to do it... again, whta do I know....

1) all freaking gov't after 8 yrs goes thru these political shuffle.
2) Steve harper wasn't any better during his last yr
3) Finance had to balance budget so Conservative don't hammer them any longer eg// selling shares etc... it's close to impossible to stay below 40B or whatever the budget was.

it's part of the gameeeeeeeee

Hondaracer 12-16-2024 09:23 AM

In 2015 Harper had 31% of the vote VS 39% for Turd

Liberals aren’t likely to get half of that in the next election. This isn’t “normal” this is something the liberals may never recover from

JDMDreams 12-16-2024 09:40 AM

I can't believe out of the millions of immigrants we imported we don't have a few with talent or brains to run a decent political campaign/ policies? At this point it seems like trumpy has smarter guys helping him as advisors.

Badhobz 12-16-2024 09:50 AM

But we got some legitimately tasty Indian food now. Making me hungry just thinking about it

Traum 12-16-2024 09:54 AM

The moment to turn the Liberals ship around was long gone, and the situation facing Turd now is far worst than the one that Biden was looking at when he was being pressured from within the Dems after his failed debate with Trump.

I think it is fair to say that with this election, the biggest failure the Liberals had was their inability to force Turd to quit like the Dems had done to Biden.

It took us 8 minutes. I was expecting it to be harder.

Badhobz 12-16-2024 09:57 AM

Where’s my eggs you bitch ?!?!! That’s 8 minutes too long !!!!

Traum 12-16-2024 10:06 AM

1:04 p.m. EST: Trudeau considering prorogation or resignation, sources say
Sources tell CTV News that the prime minister has conveyed to cabinet that he is considering prorogation or resignation, and he’s potentially planning to address Parliament this afternoon.
As I have said waaaay back right when he was getting divorced with his wife -- he should have jumped on the opportunity back then to resign from PM. Would have given him the perfect legitimate cover. But he just had to cling onto power.

JD¹³ 12-16-2024 10:10 AM

At this point the failures of the Trudeau Liberals aren't just snowballing down the mountain they're an avalanche blasting down it like a pyroclastic flow. They can't govern at all and their mandate from the public is long gone. The queen rat just stepped off the ship. There needs to be an election immediately.

The Liberals may not even be a party after this and the NDP shouldn't be either after folding in to the Liberals and completely selling out on their voters and party principles. Watch Singh keep supporting Liberals long enough to get his pension, then see how his party does with voters. I won't be surprised if we see a 230+ seat Poilievre government with the Bloc as the official opposition.

Regardless of how big the Conservative Party majority is we're all in for a rough time. Undoing the damage Trudeau (and by extension Singh) have done to this country socially and economically is going to take years and it'll get worse before it gets better. As I said many years ago the Trudeau Liberals WILL go down as the worst Prime Minister / government in the history of this country.

Long before this latest catastrophic debacle, public polls already voted overwhelmingly as Turd being the worst PM ever.

In b4 “people weren’t around in 1930!!!”

Yes, however, no one previously has done as much damage as Turd has to this country. And for what?

Let Turd explain the fiscal update now that Freeland is gone, would fucking LOVE to see him try to worm his way through that given they will be showing they broke every single promise made previously in terms of fiscal responsibility etc.

PP will have every excuse in the book to fall back on once he becomes PM because everything is that bad here.
