Just put on CTV for the first time in forever and I see Singh live, right now, saying he's demanding Trudeau step down but won't answer about his continued support of his party in non-confidence motions. Peak hypocrisy, it's incredible to see that kind of partisan cognitive dissonance from an elected official being broadcast on national television.

This guy needs to be escorted out of Ottawa. Get the fuck out. Time to get some adults with actual conviction in office because electing clowns like this has truly made Parliament Hill a circus.

pensions are the weirdest subject in canadian politics.

i never understand why it's even a talking point.

none of the people that achieve this level of ascension need their pensions. they are rich AF. their actual paycheques amount to nothing

jagmeet is worth 100? million dollars. and that's before they fall back into the cush private sector. i just don't believe he's riding out the clock over 200k a year.

ugh PP. what a disaster that this clown is simply being handed the keys like this.

Although Freeland resigned as Finance Minister, she is still a Member of Parliament. She would still collect pension and benefits as an MP.

She is not working for free despite her last name haha.

The same goes for Turd. He still gets a big fat pension if he resigned as PM.

Singh won't pull the plug on the government until at least Feb 2025. That's when he qualifies for the MP pension.

Let's say that Jagmeet does support a non confidence vote. Why would he do it now when he is close to being eligible for a pension as an MP? February 2025 is when Jagmeet qualifies for the pension.

"Sellout" Singh needs to secure the bag first, right?

-more than $66,000 per year for Jagmeet's pension.

Of course he won’t because he’s a coward like the rest of them. He’s going to lose his seat next election. He’s looking out for #1 even when you’re worth 100 mill, gotta bend over the tax payers as frequently as possible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jagmeet isn't doing this for the pension and it's just an angle for the "he's a traitor" crowd.
It's chess not checkers. Jagmeet is clearly poising the NDP to be a much stronger player in the government as the liberals implode.
If he quits in February, sure, you might have a point, but he's going to be the official opposition leader.
He's pushed forward (whether you agree with them or not) things that benefit lower income Canadians.

I agree with you to some extent. When I watched video of Jagmeet telling reporters that he wants Turd to resign. saying that he "has to go", he positioned the NDP as a party that "fights for Canadians". Then he makes the important contrast to the Liberals who are just fighting among themselves.

Singh kept mentioning the plight of numerous Canadians who can barely afford to buy groceries or pay for rent under a Liberal government.

I don’t see why it’s hypocritical to want Turd to resign but still support the Liberal party. It’s not that hard to understand is it? I mean you can hate Trudeau but still agree with the fundamentals and values of the Liberal Party as a whole. That’s certainly how I feel.

I’m not letting my hatred for Trudeau sway me into voting for a platform and party full of racists and religious sycophants and science non-believers in the Conservative party.

If the Canucks suck and have terrible leadership you don’t just become a Boston Bruins fan, you stick with your team and get it new leadership and players until it’s better again.

100 percent. Fuck the Cons. I am not voting for that party either. Why help the Conservatives gain a majority government?

Supporting the liberals through this and enabling them to stay in power likely doesn’t bode well for the future of the NDP party at the federal level. I think his and his parties support is much more tenuous than just getting it through the next few months.

Of course politicians will never do the “right” thing but for honour and respect of his peers and constituents, I think it would look much better to pull his support and call an election VS this half ass approach he’s been taking for months now.

If turd is gone, it’s extremely unlikely he will be able to get anything else tabled from the NDP’s side. Everyone will just be twiddling their thumbs until the election is ultimately forced upon them

After a decade of garbage, you eventually turn on your leadership. Turd isn’t the Canucks. The Canucks are Canada, Turd is the GM, and he’s missed the playoffs every single year of his tenure.

Btw, you touting the lowering of the deficit looking pretty sweet now

All of the science and liberal ideology has positioned us in an incredible spot where are are innovators and leaders of industry and innovation! We’ve done so much in the last decade it’s hard to believe… not. Canadas GDP is 2024 is 1% lower than last year and marginally better than when Turd took over. It must be those cons holding us back!!

If they drop the writ, surely the election won't take place to end of February ... Jagmeet would be safe in terms of pension. But I'm with westopher and don't think that's the deciding factor of supporting Libs or not. I don't think he's sticking it out till he gets Pension.

^ I have no idea what you're even talking about or getting at, if you have a point make it... I wasn't "touting" anything just pointing out that Left wing minded parties aren't ALWAYS bad at economics and it's a fact that the national debt went down twice in the last 10 years which rarely happens.

And?

Your last sentence is just jaded/biased personal beliefs with littler or no understanding of individual departments or industries or what the people in them do because it's not in neon lights in your face on a daily basis... Ie; you have no idea what you're talking about, you just THINK you do.

But sure ignore people's basic rights being infringed on with your pet party I guess.

Well.. it’s quite simple I’d say.. you increase your debt, to a number no one could have possibly imagined over a decade.

And in that same time, you’ve done very little to stimulate the Canadian economy or attract substantial investment in Canadian business. Both of these things are as clear as could be when you look at household debt to GDP, and economic growth over the liberals leadership. We have no industry, our exports are done, we bailed on oil and gas, and now Trump sees dollar signs and a pathetic, lame duck leader primed for being take advantage of.

So, everyone who supported this shit party to this point, which has been a complete disaster, is directly responsible for us now circling back to the conservative way just like the states have done, and the time for soothing over hurt feelings is over.

They accomplished very little socially for over a decade, which should underline the fallacy that they actually gave two shits about any of these issues other than for the appearance of being the “good” guys VS the “evil” cons.

Like.. L O fucking L on this article about the 2015 campaign

https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/politi....google.com%2F

This article is like reading a fucking backwards day piece written by the Beaverton:

Quote:

Economy

Trudeau has pledged to run three consecutive “modest” deficits until 2019, in order to significantly increase spending on infrastructure and boost the economy.

National security and military

Trudeau faced a lot of criticism when his party supported the Conservatives’ controversial anti-terror legislation, Bill C-51. But he said that a Liberal government would move quickly to amend the bill so that it protects the rights of individual Canadians.

Trudeau also raised eyebrows when he said he would scrap the purchase of the F-35 fighter jet and instead buy cheaper planes to replace the aging CF-18s. He said the Liberals would use the savings to pay for offshore Arctic patrol vessels for the navy being built in Halifax.

Refugees, immigration and citizenship

At the height of the Syrian refugee crisis, Trudeau said the Liberals would bring 25,000 refugees to Canada by the end of 2015.

He has also promised to speed up family reunification for immigrants and scrap the visa requirement for Mexicans travelling to Canada.

As the party leaders debated the issue of face-covering veils, Trudeau said his government would not appeal a recent court decision that allowed niqabs to be worn at citizenship ceremonies.

First Nations

Trudeau said a Liberal government would “immediately” launch a national public inquiry into missing and murdered aboriginal women. He called the disappearance and deaths of nearly 1,200 women and girls a “national tragedy that must come to an end.”

Trudeau also promised to add $515 million per year to funding for First Nations education, as well as an additional $40 million over four years for the controversial Nutrition North program, which aims to bring healthy and affordable food to remote northern communities.

Electoral reform and Senate

Trudeau said he would introduce electoral reform legislation within 18 months of forming government. He said the legislation would be based on the recommendations of a special, all-party parliamentary committee. One of the committee’s biggest tasks would be to consider doing away with the first-past-the-post electoral system in time for the next federal election.

He also promised to bring a merit-based appointment process for the Senate, and end the partisan nature of the Upper Chamber.
Like JFC.. outside of the Marijuana reform, the entire platform is an unmitigated -disaster-

Oh and todays 20 BILLION dollar extra VS what was promised in the fall, a fucking 30% increase over what was promised literally 6 months ago… is apparently based on payouts for aboriginal claims which have been in the process for the last 2-6 years?

Every single article I’m reading said how could any govt. not anticipate these costs that were ALREADY baked into that fall assessment of the economy…

And now there’s almost certainly going to be additional spending and wild promises going into the election year if we make it that far.

Like holy fuck.. how can be possibly be this incompetent. This isn’t 40 to 45. Freeland Told us we were going to maintain or lower the debt and we went THIRTY PERCENT OVER!!!

Nothing you say justifies electing officials that are openly racist, promote religious ideologies and want to infringe basic rights such as gay marriage or abortion.

Say whatever you want about national economics, you're richer than you ever were my friend. So am I.

Even if I wasn't, I'd support changing out leadership within the Liberal party which I've been quite open about... but I'll never vote for the current Conservative party.

If they were already baked in, then wouldn't the overage be from something(s) else they fucked up on? I'd suspect they messed up more than just one thing that they can conveniently say accounts for all of it.
