There is no way I can vote for the Liberals anymore since they introduced bill c18 (the Facebook ban) and it completely fucked my industry. I'm still lucky to have a job, many of my coworkers weren't so. The dumbest, most misguided legislation that did nothing to help anything! All it did was backfire and destroyed a lot of businesses and jobs.

No idea who i'll vote for. Can't stand the Cons or PP, but I can't vote Liberal for that reason.

Say whatever you want about national economics, you're richer than you ever were my friend. So am I.

Even if I wasn't, I'd support changing out leadership within the Liberal party which I've been quite open about... but I'll never vote for the current Conservative party.

I share your belief of not electing dickheads of the sort you've mentioned as well, which is why I refuse to elect both Rustad and PeePee. (I would also add anti-climate change and anti-vaxxers to your list as well.) Much to my dismay, however, a lot of people don't feel that way, and that is why we saw the election results we had in BC, and of course the election results in the US. :(

I'd say a lot of us are in this similar conundrum now -- at least on RS. I might be wasting a vote on the Greens, or I might vote for the Libs in disgust while thinking that this might reduce the chance of PeePee and the Cons having a super majority in parliament. At the end of the day, I think it is pretty clear that the Cons will win a large majority gov. So my vote probably won't matter, but I'd still be out voting anyway.

68style 12-16-2024 03:10 PM

I would vote for the Conservative Party if they had a reasonable platform... until then I will see what ideologies I agree with more on the Liberal or NDP or even Green side of things.

I've also been writing to my local representative asking them to please push for new leadership at the national level for the Liberal party and join in asking Trudeau to step down. Things need to change.

There's little chance he Liberal candidate in my riding will ever win, Conservative's have held a 4:1 or 3:1 voting edge in Calgary Rocky Ridge area, but I still reach out anyway because there can't be too much internal pressure to force a change in my mind regardless whether the candidate is actually elected or not.

Even Trump has an opinion on this ...but I'd rather be insulted by Trump which actually means you got on his nerves. Win.

Liberal candidate got crushed in the cloverdale by-election yesterday, yet another seat lost

https://apple.news/A5ypkPIqzSBW3pJjHVkdCVQ

Bye bye

JDMDreams 12-17-2024 06:53 AM

I didn't know voting was still going on since the cp is on strike. I'm not even sure if it was a good representation as

"Fewer than 17 per cent of registered voters turned out for this byelection."

I'm not sure what Trudeau will gain by clinging on? I'm sure even the stupidest of advisors would have told him to quit by this point. They just need a new face like Biden. Or else they will end up like bc liberals.

68style 12-17-2024 07:12 AM

Not saying Trudeau should stay on........ but that didn't exactly work out for Biden/Dems lol

Hondaracer 12-17-2024 07:13 AM

Businesses are not obligated to participate in the “GST holiday”

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/1...liday-opt-out/

The guy in the article threatening a buffet restaurant with going to the media over fucking $2.70 because they didn’t want to participate :lol

You can’t write this shit. This is like a comic book based on incompetence, it’s awesome. Hopefully thousands of people create headaches for small business owners over this pathetic “tax holiday”

“It’s on retailers to decide which dolls are collectible and which are for play” :lol

68style 12-17-2024 07:20 AM

You can calm down Honda... Trudeau will be gone

I mean you're literally complaining about free money at no cost to you becaue you're so desperate to find ways to point out how incompetent he is.... but he's going... it's okay.... you can rest now.

Badhobz 12-17-2024 07:20 AM

Is it tandoori flame ?!? You leave those buddy guys alone !!!

Like I posted before from that CBC video, if you spend $16,000 on groceries a year and buy a PS5, you’ll save $160.

I’m not gonna save shit on this

It's not costing anything out of your pocket either is it? People with kids are enjoying it a bit.

Time for Honda to do a Hakka Dance in Ottawa.

Best part is they keep panning to this old white guys face.

68style 12-17-2024 07:32 AM

We've reached peak entitlement here... calling our own country a shithole and then complaining about how the free money program wasn't good enough when so many other countries are experiencing coups, getting blown up, can't read/write, don't have any food, can't get clean water and can't express anything publicly...

People here need a fuckin reality check or spend some time somewhere that they can appreciate how much we actually do have here again. It's kinda pathetic to be honest.. and I'm not singling out Honda by any means, just the media is full of people whining about literally everything right now.

Hondaracer 12-17-2024 07:33 AM

Ah the old, we’re not China so don’t complain. Nice

68style 12-17-2024 07:36 AM

That's not what I'm saying and you know it, don't be such an ass

Hondaracer 12-17-2024 07:38 AM

When Freeland is saying “we don’t need ‘gimmicks (the tax holiday) for this budget, I think it’s fair to criticize it when your meth fueled finance minister is even questioning it.

JDMDreams 12-17-2024 07:56 AM

Yes, especially if we're 50% over budget by 20 billion.

FYI, China is not a Third World country. It's a second world country like Russia and China. Industrialized countries that are neither like the impoverished countries like Sudan of the third world or the first world countries like "Canada" and the US.

Guess what, 68style is 100 percent correct. Many Canadians take Canada for granted for all its protected freedoms and rights under the Charter of Rights. Our democratically elected government. The right to vote.

Although China has a much bigger economy than Canada and is ahead of many countries in terms of public infrastructure, telecom (6G development), China's communist government suppresses individual freedom of speech and rights.

You wanna bash the Chinese government on an online forum like people are doing here on RS to talk shit about Turd and the Liberals? hahaha

The police will throw your ass in jail for insurrection in a heartbeat. Heck, section 23 of Hong Kong's Basic Law means that you cannot make any comments to complain about the HK government in person, online, or any form of communication.

Trucker protests against vaccines in China or the special admin region of Hong Kong? hahah. No rights to protest.

It is not only that residents in China or Hong Kong have no rights and freedoms to protest against the communist government, people are constantly under government surveillance.

There are security cameras everywhere. You were speeding on a highway in China? Boom. Security cameras already took your photo. They don't need a policeman to hold a radar gun to give you a speeding ticket. No need for a cop to read your rights because a driver doesn't have any rights haha.

Canada and United States is freedom to many people around the world. Does our home have social, political, and economic issues? For sure.

However, at least I have a right to vote for the next government, peacefully protest against the government, and talk shit about the government in person or on an online forum.

Many people in other countries like China or in a third world country run by corrupt military dictators don't give people those rights to do so.

You bitch and complain about the government? Get locked up and beaten up in jail in many other countries haha.

You aren't just criticizing man, your hyperbolic (or delusional) statements like "trudeaus reign of terror" and "canada is a shithole" is so fuckin over the top and absolute crybaby shit. You talk about how fucked you are for money in one post then talk about how you don't need the money in another. It's just a typical middle class white guy crying how the world isn't focused on him and him only at this point. You never put forward ideas or solutions, just this is fucked that is fucked complaining and complaining.
I like angry yet articulated hondaracer, but this "we are the worst country in the world and we are fucked forever" hondaracer is really a tiring version.

whitev70r 12-17-2024 08:12 AM

FYI, PSA ... if you get tired of any particular poster who is just constantly rinsing and repeating, being a contrarian just to irk you, and adding nothing really new to any particular discussion. There is a 'block user' function. just sayin

Hondaracer 12-17-2024 08:57 AM

I always put forward solutions, however it’s not my job to figure this shit out either.

I think two things are true here in that A) comparatively to other first world countries of similar populations, we’re not doing that great tbh. Poverty, crime, drug use, etc. were pretty bad actually, a lot of these issues are social issues left leaning parties think they are well to serve and what we’ve seen here in BC and Canada is they are actually pretty shit at dealing with the root causes. You can go on about how the cons are no better, but we’re actually in quite a bad spot with the left leaning politicians as well.

And B) I’m not so naive as to think we don’t have it easy compared to some places, but we could be doing so much better, and the deeper we sink into this hole both fiscally and socially, it’s going to be that much harder to get out of. General quality of life goes down for the sake of stupid shit like this GST holiday. Handing out cheques or these pitiful rebates doesn’t effect tangible change for the people who need it. Some broke family ain’t celebrating a better Christmas because the GST is taken off puzzles.

As I’ve said before, in Canada, if you make less than 80k a year, and don’t own a home or have the chance of generational wealth sliding down to you, you are -hopeless- in Canada.
