Power in numbers... Canada and South America and Europe could all join up in their own FTA and then it's like... well... see ya later USA and fuck you.
They'd be the ones fucked in that scenario... short term pain for all involved in such a coalition, but long term gain if the USA wants to play hardball with everyone.

Was talking to a client out in LA last week, I asked him about the fires he said he knew they "even crews from Mexico helping out!"
I mentioned we had guys out there fighting from BC, Canada, etc. He had no idea.

Newest Ekos poll from the Jan 13 to 21st has the libs within 7 points. If you include the margin of error it's less than 5. If the libs pull this off it's going to be crazy.

Trump is greatly going to swing things away from the cons if the US keeps going down this crazy path and PP keeps verbally blowing Elon. It's 3 days in and it's absolute madness down there.

Even though the polls look like they're tightening, I doubt the Liberals can win. A lot of Lib MPs including minsters are calling it quits. Yes, you'll have new blood, but that also indicates to me that many of these MPs know they're going to lose big.
I think the best case scenario for the Libs, NDP, and Bloc is to win enough seats to give the Cons a minority government. This would be the worst case scenario for PP and the Cons.

Plus, can you imagine the next round of gong show if Rep do lose in 2028 and Dems win ... what do you think the transition of power will be like. JD Vance might run, he is Trump's disciple, you think he will leave peacefully? Those 2020 idiot rioters have all been pardoned, they'll appeal to previous precedents that is is OK to riot at the Capital ... .

The polls keep tightening because PP isn't a good candidate, plain and simple. The Cons will regret anointing PP as their man, it was well predicted that as people saw more and more of the guy the Cons popularity would fall in unison.
I've been harping on this for a while, he's unlikable, the only reason he's even close to sniffing the PM office is due to Trudeau's unpopularity. We're in a moment where it's anyone but JT, if the Liberals choose a decently liked leader, the polls will instantly close in tighter.
That's all coming to bare now.

Ford would be a better candidate than PP because, say what you want about the guy and all his flaws, he has the guts to stand up for Canada and go after Trump. Maybe if he were running for PM, he would tone it down, but I still think he would stand up for Canada. PP on the other hand looks like he's going to fold and give whatever Trump wants.

Prior to this Trump tariff stuff, I really do not like Ford, and I think all the scandals he has been involved in should be more than enough to let somebody else take the Ontario premier seat.
But since the Trump tariff stuff started happening, he has really been bringing on his A game, and I think that is going to help him win the early ON election that he is going to call soon.
Going forward though, Ford is shining bright right now because of the leadership vaccum at the federal level, and he has stepped up big time to basically lead the whole counter-tariff effort. Assuming that PeePee is still going to win in some form when the federal election happens, where would that leave Ford? The PM should really be the one to lead the charge here, and if PeePee continues to let Ford take the lead, he (PeePee) is gonna lose creditbility.

He's a Canadian by blood. The only thing preventing him from running for office is Canadian residency, which isn't a high bar to establish.

Well, apparently you don't need security clearance to run for PM anyway.
Also just because your bro was a cracked out drug addict doesn't mean you can't pass security clearance... answer lots of questions about ties to people yes, but automatic failure no.

Ford has a very low bar to reach when it comes to being one of the better politicians, however, I will always respect that through all of his time in office he never vilifies anyone. Even that dumbfuck smith in these recent premier alliance to react to the tariffs when she was CLEARLY playing political games to be a walking fuck Trudeau flag, he answered questions about her with respect, albeit disagreement.
He will disagree with other politicians without ever resorting to demeaning and insulting entire parties and groups, and remains bipartisan when things are put forward to benefit the population.
He's for sure crooked though, but honestly the bar is so fucking low now if that's the only caveat we're good.

This talk about the 51st state is not going to go away. What I heard in Trump’s speech is manifest destiny and talk about expansion. The US is running out of fresh water, needs critical minerals, and is concerned about the melting Northwest Passage. The seed has been planted and people will suffer from the inevitable tariffs, which will inevitably whittle away resolve. Recent polling indicates that people under the age of 35 are less likely to care about Canada. Our other allies have been silent, so clearly, Canada stands alone to defend our sovereignty.
How does RS feel about this, politics aside?
