Crazy again what a *cough* terrible decade cough* does for resolve.
As I’ve said countless times before, young people in this country are hopeless. They don’t give a shit what happens. If they won 50 grand their circumstances wouldn’t change for most of them.

How does RS feel about this, politics aside? | I'd rather die than be American quite honestly. Which is a shame because geographically it's a pretty awesome place, with lots of awesome people.
Canadas allies aren't speaking up because it's a senile fat old retard just mouthing off. It's not a real threat. People don't want to give him more attention on the world stage because basically every world leader knows he's just a blowhard. They will try and brush off as much as they can because the more attention he gets the louder he gets.
Anyone who takes it seriously at this point is pretty delusional.

Yup, young people in this country are cooked. Not only are they broke and unable to find decent paying jobs, but the vast majority have zero chance of owning a home unless they have rich parents. To them, it's 'fuck Canada' and let the place burn.

Since polls are taken as gospel here: https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/arti...osts-rbc-poll/ Quote:
The poll found that 50 per cent of those asked say they are spending all of their income on essential bills and expenses, while 47 per cent say they have dipped into their emergency fund or retirement savings to help cope with rising costs.
It says 60 per cent of those polled are worried they don’t have enough money to cover unexpected expenses.

My surf trip:
- 1 week rental of Fiat 500 Convertible: 50 euro
- Fish dish at seaside restaurant in Ericeira: 12 euro
- Feed 12 people seafood and two bottles of wine: 100 euro
- Accommodation: 20 euro a night
Living Europe is honestly a solid play when you're ready to enjoy life.
Could potentially get similar salary to Toronto/Vancouver in London
But way cheaper access to France, Portugal, and the rest of Europe.

I don’t know how you got that from that? lol seems like the opposite in everything else besides not having Turd as a figure to blame any longer
18-34 year olds most likely to be open to joining the US and the same age group. “A sense of desperation with a lack of solutions”
It’s like the old adage in sports, the only thing worse than being angry is indifferent. That’s where we’re heading
He makes a good point in Canada has no identity. The only identity we’ve really had in the last 50 years was 2010 when people were united and proud. Shits fallen off a cliff since

Shits fallen off a cliff since | You can only say for so long that "Canada is broken" until what you are fighting against is gone. That's what I took away from Canseco's point.
I take it that you're going to blame Trudeau for annexation too when he's long gone? What do you say to people who can't get over abusive marriages and relationships?

I wonder if Ford is playing the long game and positioning himself as a potential leader of the federal Conservatives. While Poilievre and Smith have a unified message regarding the tariff threat, Ford seems to be taking an opposite stance.
It will also be interesting to see how big he wins re-election and if he does win big and secures union support which he might, it could pose a significant challenge for Poilievre.

Ontario has a lot to lose from tariffs due to the auto sector. Plus, Ontarians largely see themselves as Canadians first, as opposed to a vocal minority in Alberta who seem themselves as Albertans first and Canadians second. Playing the Captain Canada role is going to work out well for Ford and give him another couple more years.
His strategists probably see softening support for the federal Conservatives as well (now that Trudeau is gone, their support has probably peaked), so it makes sense to call an election now before that softening support at the federal level could hurt his chances in a year's time.

Blaming the media because Metro Vancouver board's behaviour and lack of accountability are now being reported on a daily basis.
Lady needs to give her head a shake, if they did good work the region wouldn't be fucked on everything.
She can take solace in the fact that Metro Van isn't the only government entity that fucks up every project it touches, but to say that they are "doing good work" is an embarrassing self reflection on where we are at.

I really dislike the fact that Ford is calling an early election now. He already has a clear cut majority in the provincial gov, and the opposition parties have all agreed to go along with public support measures should the tariffs start hurting Ontarians. He has all the mandate he needs from the public, and there are still like 17 months to go before an election is really needed. And with him doing so well in the Team Canada / Captain Canada role, I honestly don't see any reason why he needs to rush an early election.
Still, I think he will mostly like take another majority victory. I would really have liked to see what the ON Liberals / NDP could do in a non-Conservative gov.

For anyone who pushes back against govt. overspending and insane budgeting, that meeting which was to discuss “saving money” cost the tax payers $20,000 because each member in attendance got a $500 stipend (sp?)

What do you all think of Ken Sims' new strategy? Refusing to approve any supported housing in YVR because he thinks other municipalities should carry some (presumably Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, etc.) instead of being concentrated in Vancouver. I guess the answer depends on where you live ...
In a sense, I see where he is coming from. https://vancouver.citynews.ca/video/...-housing-plan/ |

Under his current mandate, Ford's Conservative majority gov can stay until June 4, 2026. There is literally another 17 months to go. IMO, he should focus on just dealing with the Canada-US tariffs now until May when we get a new federal gov, at which point the premiers and the new PM can decide how to keep on dealing with the US.
But now, the ON provincial election is scheduled to happen on Feb 27, 2025.
While Ontario politics don't really concern us, the current situation in dealing with US tariffs does. Ford has maintained a good response and made himself a central figure in the unofficial task force thus far. IMO, having him spend time to campaign around the province detracts from the more important goal of staying on course to influence everyone besides Trump so that those people can in turn influence Trump to whatever extent they can.
