He's down in DC with the premiers. They read his posts on here and were like "oh shit this guy knows what to do we need to invite him!"

Was getting my hair cut today, not at a low end establishment, barber guy was nice chatty dude but suddenly he dropped a "Canada is basically a 3rd world country now" comment in and I just kinda clammed up... then he sensed I had gone quiet and asked me if I didn't agree and I said "No, not really, but don't want to argue about it... I will ask if you've ever been to a third world country though?" and he's like "Well, no... but it can't be much worse" and I was like "Well suffice to say the qualilfications for that ranking include most of the population not being able to read, very little education, food shortages, famine, disease, lack of access to clean water and a variety of other things so I'm not sure that statement, despite some politicians insinuations otherwise, applies to Canada.
He said he realizes he's exaggerating but just doesn't like that his rent is so high......... I switched the subject but like really? The constant hyperbole blows my mind.

ive been to lots of developing countries but even if i didnt i've seen plenty of news clips and documentaries on those countries to know that we should feel lucky af that we won the lottery of being born here or having parents that moved us here. in most cases none of us chose to move here because we were so smart. only maybe hehe will try to claim that everything he earned was due to hard work and not circumstance.

Make a wild comment. And if I make a comment, it's a whole argument about it. If I don't comment on it, I get my ear talked off about it. I don't get why people can't seem to understand "no comment" or "I'd rather not talk about it" and leave it at that.
Cut my hair and shut up lol.

Dude my bff's wife constantly thru whatsapp or in person tries to get me into political arguments and I literally talk around those points or ignore those messages and she is just relentless.
I'll argue with people on here sometimes, not very hard, but IRL I don't want to talk about that shit!
PS there was literally no angle where your previous workplace wasn't toxic lol

New Orleans, as historical as it is, is one of those places that should be gunning the hardest for climate change goals, it's basically made their city uninhabitable and the fact they keep trying to rebuild there is like reaching out to touch a hot stove over and over.

San Antonio has upwards of 40,000 stray dogs, I saw more stray dogs running around that damn city on the daily than I've seen in MANY 3rd world countries, and I've visited many.
Add to that the lack of literacy, impoverished communities, I'm not kidding there are spots down there much worse than many countries we'd consider "poor". It's an absolute disgrace to see a country with that much money to have communities and areas so fucking decrepit.
For someone to say Canada is a 3rd world country is someone who has never traveled, and is so laughably ignorant that I wouldn't even be able to take a single thing that person said seriously.

Any town that made it's money off of coal is pretty much a shithole nowadays. The ones that are close to the mountains/nature and can act as a base has had a bit of a reprieve since covid though.

People that say xxxx country is "becoming a third world country" literally don't have any idea what they're saying. A lot of the time they mean "I see too many non-whites around me so that must be what it's like living in Mexico/Africa/India whatever.
Even the whole term "Third world" is an cold-war anachronism meaning non-aligned to either the US or USSR.
You know what was technically a Third World country? Ireland.
Technically a First World country? Angola.

I would've just said First, Second and Third world are terms from the cold war to describe the allies, the communists and everyone else. That would probably be too confusing for him.

For someone to say Canada is a 3rd world country is someone who has never traveled, and is so laughably ignorant that I wouldn't even be able to take a single thing that person said seriously. | Lets be clear, most of you live in Vancouver. Some of you need to go see northern saskatchewan, or remote communities anywhere in canada, we have the exact same issues.
I'm not saying canada is a third world country, but to say san antonio is worse than some of what we got going on in Canada is a bit interesting to me.
Let's be explicitly clear, i've worked in a town, in canada, that had a population north of 200 people, which in subzero temperatures didnt have running water because the system was broken and would freeze up. And it remained this way for several years, and lets be clear this was a town that had subzero temperatures for many months straight in the year. This same town also had no restaurants, and one corner store and one grocery store, but conveniently had 2 liquor stores.

I don't see the issue, if it's not economically or environmentally viable for a place to exist, it's not going to get infrastructure investment. You expect the province to pay to run businesses and police and provide doctors and whatever other services in a 200 person town? Why? Towns do die and people have to move.
San Antonio has a population of 1.5M and it's still a giant shithole. What's the excuse there?

Of course there are buttfuck towns in Canada that are shitholes, that would be expected when there's no tax income to support proper infrastructure, so that makes sense.
What's more appalling to me is when there is a sizable tax base yet a city or county via corruption has a government that doesn't handle their basic duties to provide services and infrastructure to the public.
That comes in abundance in many higher density areas of the US.

What an insane logic. Like if 60 of us went and moved somewhere with no infrastructure next year we'd expect Canada to come in and start building us hospitals and grocery stores?
Infrastructure is there to service a population. Have you ever played sim city?
