No one is stopping any of you from working at Walmart or mcdicks. Most of you would not even date a person who was working full time at Walmart.

The same people saying this is trudeaus Canada when they see a Tim hortons full of Indians would be freaking out about trudeaus Canada when their Tim hortons had to close early and they couldn't get a 9 sugar diarrhea water at 11pm.
Please just stop going to these places for gods fucking sakes.

One of the hottest chicks I knew pre-COVID, before my Facebook was nuked, was 50k in debt and living in total poverty as a waitress because she's not the type to market herself, and when she met her now-husband, and he married her, paid off her debt, and set her up with an eczema-cream or some shit, some dropshipped product, that made her some nice money before I lost contact with her in 2020.

Who hasn't dreamed about dating a chick that works at a place like Cactus? I know 2 that did and it did not turn out well for both of them. But who here would seriously date a women in her 30's who is working full time at Walmart?

After reading Mikes post about becoming racist after being in Texas it reminds me of a ..theory? .. thatÂ’s been bumping around my brain lately.
The general narrative about right wingers being racists by and large or segments of population really being racists has never sat right with me. It always seemed more like xenophobia rather than racism.
IÂ’ll give you an example. In the States they are very tied into there Alma matters and will rapidly identify with that group and accept people into that group that are of different races / background because they all had the same shared goal/experience etc . Same thing with NFL teams . Can bring seemingly disparate segments of the population together .
And I think we can all relate to being frustrated with the Buddy Guys that are from India but I highly doubt most of us feel the same way about people that are more or less culturally assimilated . You could say the same thing about the 90’s with “hongers “ vs cbc Canadians.
So when I hear all the stuff about racism in the US or even our country I often wonder how much is racism and how much is xenophobia. How much do people in rural Dakota have in common with people in a Predominantly ethnic population in say somewhere like Atlanta. ItÂ’s like two different planets at times.
Makes me wonder if the US melting pot idea is better than the Canadian separate /distinct.
None of the above is particularly a radical new idea but thought it worth chiming in with

Sure, it's definitely not as melting-pot as America, but we also have melting-pot type culture here as well, otherwise, you wouldn't see so many second-generation Canadian friend groups that exist and interracial relationships. America's example hasn't proven to be superior. Look at what's happening down there constantly. Someone can be completely assimilated and other people cannot see past your colour.

This is a short and sweet summary of JT's reign as PM. His sky high approval then cratering till this point. There were self inflicted wounds of course but he also faced the same problems that other leaders did when inflation him that were largely out of his control. I think history will be kinder to him than we are today but that we'll also focus more on the self inflicted stuff like the SNC-Lavalin scandal.

my 2c:
- Trudeau has a LOT of self inflicted wounds: expanding TFWs, no action on zoning, endless scandal/corruption
- Some of the wounds were because he was dealt a shitty hand: with resource pricing in the dumps, housing was the only thing he could really push. If Covid didn't happen, I think house of cards wouldn't have crashed and he would've gotten re-elected.
- strong-ish but short lockdown + boosting economy out of Covid seems to have worked better than years long lockdown like some East Asian countries.
- I think PP will still take a minority gov because I think US related fear and Carney hype will die down by end of year, allowing him some time to play on canadians' fear about Liberal gov

What got me started turning JT off was when the Jodie Wilson Raybould/Lavalin incident happened. Then all these ethics commission things, his arrogant IG attitude who is out to make a good SM image, messing up certain portfolios like immigration. Whatever he did in his last month, standing up to Trump, calling him 'Donald' and 'dumb' (didn't go far enough, should have started a meme ... 'Dumb Dumb Donald'), it was too little too late. https://youtube.com/shorts/TsSq_1XkV...ihEoNrHQUqD0gD |

People are going to realize (just kidding they will have no fucking clue) that the removal of the carbon tax is just going to give oil companies room to jack the price of gas up the same amount to go straight into corporate profits.

None of the above is particularly a radical new idea but thought it worth chiming in with | You're definitely on to something, and it's a topic of which I've started to think about more and more myself.
I'm a minority, and a younger me was always vehemently anti-racist, but I've noticed as I've gotten older, you start to understand how xenophobia breeds.
I never used to understand Americans and their hatred of "illegals" and Mexicans, living in San Antonio made me understand that a little better. What's funny is that Texas used to be Mexico, so the people there are actually from there, so the xenophobia is even more fascinating.
There were times down there it felt isolating as hell going some places where everyone was Hispanic, everyone speaking Spanish, bumping Ranchera music out of jacked up pickup trucks, running red lights, driving like maniacs. They drive differently, they act different, they have a different culture/attitude that you have to get used to (Jalisco culture).
I'm open minded so I enjoyed parts of it, but the machismo stuff definitely started to change my opinion in a negative way. If I was some white dude living down there permanently, observing that all the time, seeing my town and city change demographically, I might like me some Trump and start disliking Hispanics, proclaiming deportation, and wall building
It was a coming to grace for me to understand that better in many ways by being down there.
