Your conviviality is overwhelming me.

Just LOL @ this absolutely ridiculous response. If I didn't think CBC was a trustworthy source, I wouldn't have used it. Your response defies common sense and logic.

Just LOL @ you and your conjecture.

Mark carney finally listened to hondaracer

"My government will act," Carney said. "Today we're announcing our plan to fight crime, to protect Canadians and to build communities that are safe, secure and strong."

Carney said a Liberal government would reinvigorate the assault-style firearm buyback program launched in 2020, shortly after the mass shooting in Portapique, N.S., which left 22 people dead.

The government started by banning 1,500 types of firearms that year, with the promise to buy them back. The program for individual owners still hasn't started, but the federal government says that is "expected to happen later in 2025."

No I don't. It is not my fault you can't read with more precision.

Just yesterday I posted very some pro-China things, especially about Jiang Zemin.

Jiang Zemin....一个有魅力有个性的领导人,也是时运最佳的领导人,怀念那个年代。

At the same time, I also agree that the Bermuda thing does not make Carney look good, and it raises the question of whose interest Carney will serve should he become PM.

The summary paragraph is below but there's a lot of other stuff that dives deeper into not just Carney but Brookfield itself. Before Carney I had never heard of them but they've got more than 100,000 employees in 30 countries. I (and likely most of you) have a good chunk of money invested in them through your ETFs.

So, as we digest these claims, let’s keep our cool and stick to the facts. Carney’s Brookfield stint was about mobilizing capital for green investments, not cooking up tax schemes. Brookfield’s tax minimization moves were legal and transparent, not secret dodges. Carney’s track record shows a bent toward reforming the system for fairness, not exploiting it for personal gain. In the grand scheme, if one is hunting for a Canadian tax bogeyman, there are bigger, more stationary targets—like decades-old tax policies and the governments that failed to change them—than Mark Carney.

Looks like pp helped his wife's uncle cross illegally into Canada via Roxanne road.

In late July 2018, Pierre Poilievre took aim at “illegal border crossers.”

“How much will it cost to house the illegal border crossers in hotels in the coming year?” he repeatedly asked during a parliamentary committee hearing, criticizing the Liberal government for helping shelter thousands of asylum seekers who had entered the country through Roxham Road in Quebec.

“Who will pay for it?”

Two months later, the Conservative leader’s own uncle-in-law crossed Roxham Road on foot.

After failing to get his refugee claim approved, he appears to have lived undocumented in Canada with a deportation order in his name.

According to documents obtained by The Breach, Poilievre’s relative—the uncle of his wife, Anaida Poilievre—received help from her and an undisclosed MP’s office in 2021 in his efforts to get permanent residency.

He has since been seen attending Conservative events, as recently as 2023, according to photos examined by The Breach.

Poilievre has said a Conservative government would “have the resources” to “track down” such individuals and deport them.

“These are people who are not eligible to be here and we will find them and

Anaida Poilievre’s uncle, Venezuelan lawyer José Gerardo Galindo Prato, had previously entered Canada in 2004 and lived without documentation until 2007, when he was deported by Canadian border agents.

Back in Venezuela, Galindo Prato was convicted in 2017 of helping a drug trafficker escape from prison and served six months in prison, which he says was a trumped-up, false charge.

In the fall of 2018, he flew to Miami, then to Pittsburgh, and later crossed at Roxham Road.

Wokies on Reddit who were rabidly anti-convoy and pro-vaxx, are oddly silent in any criticism of the Palestine protests happening across the country for God-knows how long now...

The problem is -- a deep dive understanding into this is more complicated than taxpayers understanding how the carbon tax worked -- and most Canadians were receiving a carbox tax rebate, but still think the carbon tax was a failure that added to their daily cost of living. FailFish

Layman simple explanation:

https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/feat...-change-energy

What Liberals and Carney are proposing - cut consumer carbon tax but keep industry carbon tax. Open to building pipelines.

What Cons and PP are proposing - cut all carbon tax period including industries.

westopher 04-13-2025 08:55 PM

I mean, that is the simple explanation, and the reality but I've seen about 500 comments from people that say the "heard mark carney say he was bringing it back after the election"
Simplicity doesn't matter when truth doesn't even matter anymore.

Drunk driver ran over and killed a 6 year old girl and injured her siblings a few blocks away from my parents house yesterday as I was there for dinner.

Surely justice will be served this time.

heard about that, tragic. Having two young kids myself, its hard to read about this sort of stuff

unit 04-14-2025 12:26 PM

every time there is a crime i hear it from honda before i hear it from the news.

Hondaracer 04-14-2025 12:31 PM

Well I was like 2 blocks away and my buddy lives even closer. Everyone has complained about this stretch and intersection for decades and nothing has been done. Not like it would prevent some drunk sack of shit from running over a group of kids.

Reddit is saying city of Surrey came back with a conclusion that only 60% of people speed on this stretch therefore didn’t justify any traffic calming

Badhobz 04-14-2025 01:03 PM

Even if you setup barriers like they do around east van to calm the traffic

If Surrey had already done a study on it and still did nothing, doesn't the responsibility lie squarely on Surrey and Brenda Locke?

My impression of Brenda Locke has always been pretty poor. I guess there is still another 1.5 yrs to go before she gets replaced?

Hondaracer 04-14-2025 01:51 PM

It’s been 20 years of speeding and running that intersection. Anyone who lives in that area knows it’s a chronic issue that’s never been addressed

unit 04-14-2025 02:01 PM

yeah actually you're right. i used to live in glenwood and i remember every few years there would be a big accident there. back then it wasnt even a 4 way stop, 108 had no stop sign at all. they should have put a roundabout there a long time ago like they did on the intersections on the west side of 108
