The way I see it, this election both lib and con are promising similar things. Tax cuts, affordability shit, cost of living shit, so whose resume is more impressive?

Chilli Con Carney? Or Politickin Pierre?

Odd situation for a lot of ridings too, where you'd want the party but not the rep, vice versa.

I was on the fence but looking into the conservative dude in my area one of his key issues is fighting for places of worship and making sure they don't have to pay taxes and that's just not something I can get behind lol

Violent sex offender who had a public warning 1 day earlier now on a Canada wide warrant after breaching bail conditions

https://globalnews.ca/news/11139452/...e-warning/amp/

Violent sex offenses on 5+ strangers, sentenced to a minuscule sentence, released two years early on bail, extreme risk to the public, instantly reoffends.

I’m sorry, and excuse my language, but are we fucking retarded?

Read this article then defend it, please. Justify this in any logical way.

68style 04-18-2025 03:19 PM

No defence for it, need bail reform bigtime.

I think both candidates have plans for that from what I read. I would rather NOT go down the slippery slope of circumventing the Charter to do it though. Look where that's gotten the USA.

Something like that should be (at most) a last resort if nothing else is working. Not the first thing you do to try to change the justice system.

Like you mentioned in another comment Harper heads the IDU. You mentioned the Republicans are members, as are the Conservative Party of Canada, and the Likud party from Israel. Likud is the current ruling party that is lead by Benjamin Netanyahu.

Hard hitting important work from PP. Are you fucking kidding me? The fact these words are even wasted when people are talking about things that matter coming into an election shows how serious this fuckin weiner is. This is as retarded as all the republicans drinking big gulps to stick it to the left 10 years ago. Complete clown shit.

Populism politics. Can't win on a platform, so appeal to the most basic desires of the most basic voters. Make Canada Great Again, like it was in the 80's before we acknowledged how bad this stuff was.

It works!

westopher 04-18-2025 07:37 PM

Cons complain about libs virtue signalling but then do the exact same thing only for causes that objectively suck. Absolutely embarrassing.

VRYALT3R3D 04-18-2025 07:55 PM

We ban plastic straws but keep the plastic lids. Wow, really saving the environment here.

Badhobz 04-18-2025 08:02 PM

Yah and bring back my plastic bags. These paper bags are horseshit. I don’t care about the environment, I don’t even have kids. That’s like 100000x more green than recycling.

Yes. If everything isn't recyclable, nothing should be! If you can't get rid of plastic waste all the way, don't get rid of any. Such a fucking stupid argument.
I forgot to bring my thermos last walk I went on with my dog, so I should throw it out since I used a disposable cup yesterday and only use single use cups from now on. If you get excited about announcements like that, congrats, you're the lowest common denominator he's pandering to.

Word from chat groups and social media posts are all saying that locally -- within Metro Vancouver -- most advanced polling stations are a gong show. They all seem fairly understaffed. One advanced polling station near me (located at a smaller community center) has 1 person on staff doing the verification work. Another advanced polling station that is also near me, located at a bigger community center, has all of 3 staff doing the verification work. And somehow, it seems like the checking and voting process is slow and extra laborious this time around.

The end result of all this is -- I've only heard of people being able to get in and out in ~30 min at the quickest, and that happened first thing in the morning when the polling station opened. The majority of people seem to need anywhere between 1 - 2 hours.

For an election as important as this, the wait time is an absolute disaster.

Is it too late to request for a mail in ballot now? I gotta look into this very, very soon. I can't afford to wait 2 hours in line to do this.

No wait where I was, went at around 730PM. The workers were a bit slow but no gong show there. Looks like they're doing paper ballots and not using tabulators like they did during the provincial elections. Maybe they're afraid of Starlink... lol

jing 04-18-2025 08:40 PM

In and out in 10-15 mins for us during off peak hours. There was a long line most of the day but we went in the evening around dinner time and it was efficient enough.

whitev70r 04-18-2025 08:47 PM

Took 40 mins for me, it's OK, not terrible but not the most efficient. Only had 5 workers behind tables that can issue ballots ... but they had like 5 teenagers as runners, bringing you to the right poll stn number and making sure you line up in the A-L line vs. the M-Z line. :okay:

I suspect on the actual voting day, they will have the machines where you slide the ballot in. Rule is that they don't count advanced ballots till the actual day of voting Apr 28 (I think).

westopher 04-18-2025 09:09 PM

It was first day and I'm sure people were itching to get it done. It's probably the worst it will be.

Unfortunately PP already stated he plans to use the “not withstanding” clause to circumvent the Charter.

If it makes you feel better, I bought a 1000 pack of plastic straws.

Enjoy your soggy straws.

Cheers,

How do you plan to drink chilled liberal tears when there’s no ice left?

68style 04-19-2025 05:26 AM

Don’t argue with the “common sense” party bro… and tell your wife to get back in the kitchen too. Alpha males are back! Nobody tells us what to do. Fuck everyone I’m gonna sit with my legs spread as wide as I can because I’m a MAN and that’s what MEN do.
